"Don't get me wrong, parents of disabled DC need far more help and support as do the families of disabled adults. "

Agreed herbietea. Have you seen labours new plan to 'get' people off disabled benefits?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1260012/Prove-work-people-sickness-benefits-sent-fitness-test.html

My son went for one of these 'medicals' after spending 18 months learning to walk again, was still in screaming agony and had very low mobility and was passed as fit to work and thrown off DLA (lowest rate mobility).

It's not getting better under labour, it's gotten much worse and with the biggest peace time debt by this government it will only get worse for the disabled as well as everyone else as Labour cut real peoples money and services in order to preserve and ring fence their 'special' projects.

"labour introduced CTC. That has benefited carers who cannot work a huge amount. "

I thought the CTC element for non workers was just taken straight from the income support child element that used paid all in one and given over to the tax office where you had to claim seperately.

The only people who benefit from CTC are the ones who work.

" I am hoping they will listen to my GP, a spinal surgeon and pelvic surgeon in my case. "

I hope they do herbietea, but my son's also had a spinal surgeon, GP, OT and physio on his side and they still denied him benefit.

No one would say what 'work' he was expected to do however and he couldn't claim JSA because he was 'unfit' to work according to their rules. He got no benefit at all.

"I SAY AGAIN.

Separate the personal from the political.

FGS!

There is absolutely no evidence that the Tories are going to cut front line services for people with disabled children. Indeed, I am willing to bet that DC will make sure that does not happen give his personal experiences."

I love the irony of that statement

"I know they are both thinking about not giving us the care component, but giving it straight to SS which I think is shocking. "

How many people are helped by ss compared to how many people are helped by family and friends? Politians really don't have a clue do they.

"Indeed, I am willing to bet that DC will make sure that does not happen give his personal experiences.""

He really Can not do any worse than Gordon Brown has considering Brown himself has a SN child and steals money from ordinary families who, unlike Brown, can not afford the loss.

By contacting them and getting their reply which was, it certainly is soemthing we aqre considering I did them due respect and did not jump to conclusions based on my political persuasion.

So FGs your fgs, this is from them not from the Sun.

Atlantis- no, it also helps those of who cannot earn but are married to someone who does.

I had to fight for years to get ds3 his SNU place and still am for ds1, but the onoe we have for ds1 is a wonder and here at least the LEA is relatively good (and it is a Labour council). It's rated one of the best in our country indeed (not England)- shame about the appalling SSD!

atlantis · 23/03/2010 16:24

But you are putting it out here as though the conservatives are the only ones thinking of such things, when we all know that Labour are and have been cutting disability payments, criteria and support for years and as per reports in the papers will continue to do so.

So why are the conservatives the bad guys when Labour have been systematically butchering these services for years?

atlantis · 23/03/2010 16:26

"It's rated one of the best in our country indeed (not England)- "

are you in Scotland clarissimo? Things seem so much better up there.

Clarissimo · 23/03/2010 16:29

Atlantis I wrote to every party and I have transcribed their replies on here before. Will do so agin.

Lib Dems were against the move and sent me some really good information about their plans, it took a while but when it came it was worth it.

Greens likewise, had a set of e-mails from them.

labour were absolutely useless yes, agin I have stated that before. They sent me a message telling me to contact a different party.

the Tories replies as before.

HAd I not contacted the tories to get an answer I would understand the general offence but I contacted them all and transcribed them all here.

Why am I so worried about services? BEcause ds1's asd is at a level where if we don't get help he could become severely ill (he is awiating CAMHs re Anorexia, at ten). His aggression is at a level where I may have to hand my darling firstborn over to resi care but we don't qualify for SSD input.

And I don't vote labour btw, or tory. I know everyone assumes here.

I don't udnerstand why you think that labour have been "systematically butchering" services for disabled people

Can you give examples of Tory systems for disabled people that Labour has butchered?

"Atlantis I wrote to every party..."

I don't mean to be rude to 'other' parties but they have no chance of forming a government and therefore can promise to always have the sun shining and everyone to get fifty weeks holiday a year whilst earning a livable wage.

Labours track record speaks for itself after 13 years and the conservatives have yet to be tested but if they are only 'thinking' about it and not actively doing it like labour are then i'm more likely to trust the conservatives.

"if you compare disability services now to disablity services under the last Tory Govt there's no comparision.
They barely existed, the DDA didn't exist, there were no accessible venues/buses/toilets. No laws about discrimination. Barley any includion in mainstream schools and universities."

But that was 13 years ago Riven, look around the world and see how times have changed if the conservatives had been in government for the last 13 years they would have changed with the times too.

Clarissimo · 23/03/2010 16:48

Atlantis, regardless I wrote to everyone becuase I felt that was fair and unbiased.

Fio we would strugge tbh, my friends son has gdd, asd, chromosomal deletion and is blind and was just refused funding, however our hopes are pinned on a specialist unit for AS and we are awiting LEA; reports are that they are running scared (currently school is divided into two halves so they can keep ds1 away from kids he hate3s- how stupid is that?) so we may have a chance. The ED / CAMHs aspect may be a clincher if it lingers though I hope to God we dont need it, I wasnt him here

the other aspect is child protection of course, could easi;y make a case wrt to siblings and ssd know this
