I wouldn't goout dressed in my PJs

but is it really 'offensive' to other shoppers?

I give a little but it doesn't affect me in any way.

IU wonder if those velour lounge suits are classed as PJs?

I miss hats as well. I love all the old films where men wear trilbies and the like.
The thing is, pjs aren't exactly flattering on most people are they? A bit like sportswear on the majority of people who slob about in it (am thinking of beer-gutty next-door neighbour ugh!). And those awful knitted boots that make people shuffle along, there'll be enough time for that when I'm in my nursing home!

domesticslattern · 29/01/2010 00:27

I have never ever ever seen this in London.

Like OhYouBadBadKitten, I'm convinced you're all making it up!

cheesesarnie · 29/01/2010 00:35

There are always mums at my sons nursery who show up in pj bottoms. They think by wearning a long coat you wont notice. It just screams out I can't be ar$%d. What else don't they bother with? Getting a shower? Cleaning their teeth? I don't how they can't take 1 minute extra to pop on a pair of jeans. Plain lazy if you ask me.

CillySunt · 29/01/2010 07:34

Why do people care?

foxytocin · 29/01/2010 07:50

If you want to wear pjs to the shops can I suggest getting one of these to throw over the top?

define pajamas? cause if you're not sleeping in them but putting them on to go out, aren't they just clothes? loungewear, baggy stupid clothes possibly, but not PJs.

I'm not sure how one draws the line.

But then I would never wear anything with Winnie the Pooh or bears or penguins on them ever, in public or not.

mii · 29/01/2010 07:57

I hardly ever wear shoes in the summer and have been to tesco loads of times without them on

I really really don't get what is 'disgusting' about it

Obviously I wouldn't go into public loos or walk anywhere muddy but in the middle of summer on a warm dry pavement I don't get the problem

And it is v good for your feet bones/posture so nah nah nah nah nah

mii · 29/01/2010 07:58

yy much more offended by a grown woman in winnie the pooh coat than somebody barefoot

Bonsoir · 29/01/2010 10:13

Agree with Aitch - it is astonishing that people are so lazy as to leave their homes in pyjamas!

I feel slightly embarrassed if ever the gardienne rings on my door to deliver the post and I am still in my dressing gown.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 29/01/2010 10:57

je t'adore, anna.

Mybox · 29/01/2010 11:10

Found it surprising that people can't throw some clothes on in the morning and also that they wear such alot to go to sleep. Perhaps they should sleep in their clothes if they can't get dressed in the morning!

NicknameTaken · 29/01/2010 11:31

I wouldn't mind seeing someone out and about in their pjs. I so rarely get to feel better groomed than anyone else.

Alas, I have permanent bed-head.

scanty · 29/01/2010 11:45

well I find it a bit strange when women can't answer the door in PJ's, without make up etc especially when they are kissing and snuggling up to their baby in lipstick, foundation etc. Many women can't leave the house without make-up, have never been seen without it etc. When I see a mum on a muddy, country walk with high heels etc or a mum taking young kids to the park in heels. Leave the jimjammy wearers alone!!

StretchAndBitsOfTinsel · 29/01/2010 11:58

God, when I was a student, we used to go to the local spar for fags in pjs and our duvets!!

belgo · 29/01/2010 12:06

I had to laugh today, I saw a mother dressed in pjs - hot pink, midriff on show, teamed with pale pink crocs - dropping her daughter off at school! In the pouring rain!

Earplugs · 29/01/2010 12:10

Maybe the bare feet thing in Tesco is also about health and safety. They probably don't want to be sued for someone treading on glass from a broken jar or having dropped a box of Persil on their toe.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone bare foot or in PJ's in our local one but then am probably too busy trying to get out as quickly as possible to notice.

2old4thislark · 29/01/2010 12:12

Just plain slobby! At least throw on yesterdays clothes! Just yet another sign of slipping standards in the country. Can you imagine what our grandparents would have thought of it?

poshwellies · 29/01/2010 12:26

It's a sad state of affairs if you can't get your arse out of bed 5 minutes earlier and get some sodding clothes on,it literally takes minutes to get dressed.
The only 'fashion' statement these people are making are that they are lazy skanks, and no I don't want to be stood behind them in a queue after they slept/shagged/sweated in their grimy pj's.

wasabipeanut · 29/01/2010 12:39

It's sheer bloody idleness or attention seeking twattery most of the time I would wager.

Surely the point of changing into PJ's is that you are marking the transition from the working "public" day to being in your home which is private.

I had DD on Sunday morning, spent Monday in my jammies (I went home in them with a coat over the top as I forgot to pack myself some going home clothes) and have managed to shower and dress every day since. Ten minutes really isn't that difficult.

DuelingFanjo · 29/01/2010 13:30

Oh no! did anyone just hear the interview on Jeremy Vine! OMG! Why - why - why!?

deaddei · 29/01/2010 14:06

Well, we don't have this problem in Waitrose - it would be all silky negligees and feathery mules.

DuelingFanjo · 29/01/2010 15:03

We don't all sound like this honest!
