I wouldn't goout dressed in my PJs

but is it really 'offensive' to other shoppers?

I give a little but it doesn't affect me in any way.

IU wonder if those velour lounge suits are classed as PJs?

If you cannot be bothered to get into something clean then you are a lazy slob.

If you choose to wear PJ's as some sort of style statememt then you are disturbed.

purpleturtle · 28/01/2010 12:54

Uggs, Getorf, usually.

I've only lived in Liverpool since the summer, so am still playing the 'spot the pyjamas' game in the school playground. At pick-up time as well as drop-off.

mazzystartled · 28/01/2010 12:56

GOML - fake uggs, or ridiculous slippers

it doesn't disgust me at all. In fact the girls in pjs are often better turned out than some of the rest of the clientele. It's every so slightly y'know - common - but like I said before I think its an empowerment thing.

cheesypopfan · 28/01/2010 13:02

we live in a student area and the local tescos is always full of students in PJ's and slippers - regardless of the time!!! Doesn't offend me, just find it a bit lazy and silly! DC's just laugh at them.

Anybody that shops in this country in their bare feet needs their head examining.

scanty · 28/01/2010 13:02

have to add that the PJ thing doesn't offend me. Might look and think 'oh' but that's it. Sometimes it's good to be able to break out of what everyone regards as the 'norm' and not give a stuff. It's pretty harmless in the big scheme of things unless it points to depression or MH issues etc.

stressheaderic · 28/01/2010 13:04

Overheard just before Christmas in the Liverpool secondary school where I work....

"My ma always gets me 3 pairs of new jarmies, one just for Christmas Eve, one for bed and a nice pair for going out in..."

belgo · 28/01/2010 13:44

Just seen this the DM article - do you reckon they set that women up? Get her changed into pj bottoms for the photo? Or did she just happen to be there conveniently for the photographer?

'I've worn my best ones today, just so I look tidy.'

She just doesn't get it does she

Bobbiewickham · 28/01/2010 13:50

"I won't be bothering with Tesco any more - I'm off to Aldi"

ROFL

PeedOffWithNits · 28/01/2010 14:12

I don't get why people think it is dirty to go out in things you have slept in, what bothers me is the prospect of them going back to bed in things they have been walking the dog etc in - I want nice clean PJs in bed, not ones that I have been out and about in picking up everyone elses dirt and germs

it is pure lazy - get a tracksuit or somehting, bleurgh!

expatinscotland · 28/01/2010 14:18

I don't get what is so hard about changingo ut of one's bedclothes.

I mean, if someone can't be arsed to even do that, you know they're not bothering to wash, brush their teeth, etc.

And going barefooted in this country . . . Sorry, but this is one of the filthiest places I've lived and the coldest.

Ripeberry · 28/01/2010 14:23

There used to be a couple who used to bring their child to the pre-school always wearing shorts and no shoes, EVEN in winter!
The pre-school leader banned them from actualy walking into the pre-school.
Amazed me really, as the car park is made up of gravel.
The little boy always had nice shoes or trainers on though

Chil1234 · 28/01/2010 14:27

Can't afford to be too hypocritical. I'm sure I have... in extremis... pulled on a fleece and my wellies over the PJ bottoms, and put out the wheelie bin hoping no-one saw me. But, according to people in the area, the St Mellons crowd are turning up in fluffy slippers and dressing gowns and spending all day in the Tesco Cafe.

Waynetta Slob lives... gross

belgo · 28/01/2010 14:29

why were they banned from walking into the school barefoot?

Some people go barefoot as a lifestyle choice, which might be understandable and even appealing if you live somewhere clean and warm.

Chil1234 · 28/01/2010 14:31

Barefoot is a lifestyle choice all right..... the 'I can't be arsed to put some shoes on' lifestyle

pagwatch · 28/01/2010 14:31

I only go to local delicatessen where they have an informal dress code. If you are not well dressed they look at you and refuse to sell you anything French.

Which is as it should be surely.

Bramshott · 28/01/2010 14:34

That woman on the picture definitely has a bra on though. Surely if you're going to go to the effort of taking your PJ top off to put underwear on, you might as well get dressed?!

mazzystartled · 28/01/2010 14:34

I think lots of you aren't getting it.

These aren't just bedtime pyjamas, they are best going out pyjamas. They won't be slept in. They'll be clean on and fully accessorised.

pagwatch · 28/01/2010 14:36

mazzy
I think they are getting it. I think they are just enjoying the magnificent 'look at me' twattery of it.

I don't think it has to do with empowerment. I think most of those doing it are doing it because their bestest mate who is dead cool does it

TwoIfBySea · 28/01/2010 14:37

I have sometimes taken dts to school wearing pjs but always with jeans and jumper pulled over the top. I've seen people wearing pjs in supermarkets - I couldn't face wearing grubby pjs let alone actually go out in them. Once I saw a woman, with her dh and ds walking around the local ASDA with holey winnie the pooh pj bottoms on.

pagwatch · 28/01/2010 14:39

if they had been holy you could at least have thought 'cult'

expatinscotland · 28/01/2010 14:42

Yes, belgo, but this place isn't clean and warm.

Anyhow, even in many beach areas, supermarket types shops require people to wear some type of footware, even flip flops, and a top.

LaurieFairyCake · 28/01/2010 14:44

I have only recently perfected loungewear and I'm wondering if I would get barred from Tesco for wearing my White Company roll down pants and my grey knitted Boden dressing gown (I removed the bows so it just looks like a long cardie)

pagwatch · 28/01/2010 14:45

well oddly I went to bed last night wearing my gloves and a pair of DHs socks.

Perhaps I could start the going to bed fully dressed styleee..

CaptainUnderpants · 28/01/2010 14:49

I think this lady forgot her PJ's

onlyjoinedforoffers · 28/01/2010 14:59

pjs wouldnt bother me though i havnt noticed anyone actually wearing them here but bare torsos in Summer in shops i hate
