So who's going to be asking him questions, and what are they like?
I haven't watched it before, and although I don't want to watch this one (inflated ratings might end up inflating their egos), part of me feels I should in order to better know what I'm instinctively recoiling from.

So is he in for a grilling or will he (as we have both wondered) somehow come out of this more popular?
I'm very impressed by the fact that you have been on the show, did they ask one of your questions?

Nanc123 · 20/10/2009 09:31

abra I was brought up Catholic too but no one is telling me to leave my country or that I don't belong here - - Riven Peter Singer sounds scarey and I agree that others do discriminate, but Question Time - its respected and he should not be given the platform

Twit · 20/10/2009 09:38

but by not allowing him on, just like any other political party would, in effect be as bad as he would attempt to be should he get into power. This is the flip side of democracy.

I know, it's a hard one, where to draw the line. Perhaps it is because they are not [as far as I know [which isn't much]] publicly calling for violence [yet].
Is it illegal to be a Nazi in this country? Or is that something I have imagined?

Nanc123 · 20/10/2009 09:50

I agree Riven - how far do you take it the very fact that they have had to change their rules to let people from ethnic minorities join just shows how illegal their party should be they want to repatriate 2nd generation immigrants - he wont say that on the telly but the BNP stand for that and have said it numerous times....this is how facists take control hilter didnt come straight out with I believe all Jews should be killed the boundaries get chipped away bit by bit - - I think you should be worried about the big picture instead of the rights of the BNP

abra1d · 20/10/2009 09:50

I missed that one, secondcoming--HAR!

LauraIngallsWilder · 20/10/2009 09:52

I am appalled by this but....
I can also see that silencing the idiots may increase their popularity so maybe giving them air time is better

Then people might realise how awful the BNP really are

BadgersPaws · 20/10/2009 09:58

The BNP also need to keep a low international profile in case other countries get wind of their "repatriating the foreigners will fix all of our problems" plans.

About 1:10 people are meant to have been born overseas in the UK, many of who are of the "right" skin colour so won't be affected, so the BNP will hope to kick out at most about 6 million people.

However what if the Aborigines set up and Australian National Party and kick the British immigrants out. About 70% of Australia's population is of British descent, so we could be facing an influx of 14 million Australians coming back.

So Britain has 8 million more people than before the BNP tackled overcrowding.

The irony of a country that's been a bigger exporter than importer of people having a repulsive repatriation drive party like the BNP is seemingly lost on Nick Griffin.

I've also kind of got my fingers crossed that we'll see a Celtic and Romano British National Party rise up and try to kick the Anglo-Saxons out.

some people would argue the SNP are racist.

My first reaction to "Beaker People Party" was to think that it was some kind of Tupperware bash.

D'oh!

daftpunk · 20/10/2009 10:06

the BNP have gained support because of lefties who scream "racist" every time a white person dares say anything about immigration......this country needs parties like the BNP...good for democracy.

Twit · 20/10/2009 10:08

Hopefully we can use what we have learnt from history (WW2) in order to recognise the danger early on so we can stop them getting into power by voting for anyone but them. Talking about it on places like this thread are opening more eyes. I have learnt more here on Mumsnet about politics than anywhere else.
[Which I suppose I should be ashamed of]

You don't need to be racist to know that a small country can only support so many people, that is an obvious fact. What makes it racist is when you start saying 'not them' because of what they look like or where they are coming from as opposed to saying, look, sorry, we have no more room this year regardless.
I would be interested in seeing how many people left the country as well as came in.

BadgersPaws · 20/10/2009 10:14

The BNP have gained support because they play the same "blame the minority" and "we're the victim" cards about our problems as the Nazis played in Germany in the 20's and 30's.

In troubled times support for such parties typically rises as people clutch on to easy solutions to very complicated problems.

True enough though the BNP are good for democracy. They should be an example to people that if they don't get out and vote then the BNP are one of our possible futures.
