The photos of Jade on the cover of todays papers make me feel quite sad, time for the press to step back

She looks very poorly in them.
I hope the press will now leave her alone with her children as from the photos I think her time is slipping away quite fast now.
I think she has achieved what she wanted now, awareness of this terrible illness and a secure financial future for her sons.

Made me think how lucky I am and how fragile life is.

I hope she gets what she needs now.

in this story i dont think its a case of hoping the press leave her alone, i think that the publicity is still being courted, although i do agree its time somebody (max clifford) put a stop to it.

nailpolish · 12/03/2009 10:17

i wish they would leave her alone

mm22bys · 12/03/2009 10:17

I read last week he wants to step away from it all....

I guess there is still enough of an appetite from enough people for it to keep going, but I do agree with OP.

Buda · 12/03/2009 10:20

I think now that she is at home surely there won't be the photo opportunities - all the recent photos have been of her being transferred in and out of ambulances.

I hope she now feels that it is enough and enjoys her boys as much as she can.

Lizzylou · 12/03/2009 10:22

It is very sad, hope she can just spend time with her family now.
Definitely time to stop the photos/updates

lizziemun · 12/03/2009 10:24

I think it her way controlling the press so she can have peace when she is with her family.

I hope she uses what time she has left to be with her family and friends.

Kimi · 12/03/2009 10:25

I read in the sun on Monday (it was left on the train I was on btw) that she gave £100,000 to the street children in India, I think she has done some good with her life all be it a short one.
As a mother I feel so sad for her sons, as a woman I feel so sad for her.
I know she is like marmite you either love her or hate her, but looking past the celeb factor she is a real person going through the most horrific illness and the the outcome is heart breaking to think about.

I know it matters not a jot to her what I think or wish for her, but I wish her a pain free time surrounded by the ones she loves and a peaceful end when that time comes.

I think someone now has to say enough and the press all go home.

Do you think it is possible that she feels that this is something she needs. Someone put on here a while ago that because she has been in the limelight for so long, she is going to feel very small, frightened and lonely, if that is withdrawn, I think this may be true, and is incredibly sad, that she needs this kind of validation.

I think it has also been said that as she couldn't be filmed dying, that maybe the cameras constant presence gives har some kind of security and to her, protection.

ChopsTheDuck · 12/03/2009 10:32

The constant camera presence has generated money for her sons! She wanted that.

I guess when it comes to the point where she has had enough then the blinds will come down. I very much doubt the press are there without her wanting them to be.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 12/03/2009 10:37

Some of it has, ie selling of the rights to the wedding and the christening, she doesn't get paid to get papped everytime she moves, though I do totally agree that she wants them there.

cestlavie · 12/03/2009 10:52

Maybe I'm different but if she, and her family, are happy with it I actually think it's incredibly healthy for the press to be covering something with such determination which is a terribly reality for thousands and thousands of families across the country.

Although they're just doing it to shift rags, they're actually covering something real for a change, not some celeb falling out of a club at 3am, or a footballer getting off with a model behind his girlfriends back. All too often in this country we try to cover up and hide the reality of death ("oh look how pale and thin she looks, please take it off the front covers and put back on another Ashley Cole story") - I'd far rather they were covering this than their usual tripe.

mayorquimby · 12/03/2009 10:55

"she doesn't get paid to get papped everytime she moves, though I do totally agree that she wants them there. "

but being someone who is papped all the time makes the events she sells more expensive, if she was never papped her wedding photoshoots etc would be worth f-all because she is only famous for being papped.but i agree with you,she still wants them there
as others have said, you can hardly say it's time for the press to step back when she is actively courting them.

tiredsville · 12/03/2009 11:13

She hasn't announced she wants the press to step back, so one can only assume she is happy with this set up.

Kimi · 12/03/2009 11:16

I guess she must want the press about, but there has to come a time when they know for the sake of dignity that photos are not appropriate, I for one would not want to see photos of her sons being told mummy has died.

I do hope her sons will be left alone when the time comes, if the adults want to court the press fair play but these children should be left to be children and deal with mummy being ill and the time when mummy is not there.

Did catch a cover of OK this morning too, Jade the boys their dad and her husband, I hope the dad and her husband can work together for those boys

tiredsville · 12/03/2009 11:29

Well again, is Jade going to be responsible and make a statement saying she doesn't want the boys hounded? I don't think so. Perhaps she is happy with this, I certainly wouldn't if they were my kids.

Blottedcopybook · 16/03/2009 15:54

I am so bloody sick of reading about Jade bloody Goody. I've recently lost a very young colleague to a brain tumour, he had a family younger than Jade's and his last few months were horrific but dignified. I don't want to read any more front page headlines saying that she's had her last rites, or that she's told her kid the angels are calling her - that should be some private stuff, right there.

Max Clifford should be absolutely disgusted with himself. He shamelessly and ruthlessly exploits these pitiful celebs like Jade Goody and Kerry Katona to keep him in the lifestyle he is accustomed to.

BatmansWilly · 16/03/2009 21:08

I agree with Blottedcopybook. Every detail of her dying days is being spread over the tabloids like its bloody entertainment.

"The angels are calling mummy"
"Jade in her last hours"

I heard the funeral is going to be shown on TV ffs.

Its a circus and IMO its making a mockery of what is actually happening here.

Our family have lost 3 people to cancer in the past 2 years, its NOT fucking entertainment.

Longtalljosie · 16/03/2009 21:12

The boys won't be hounded, they are minors and they are not celebrities. The problem with trying to predict the coverage after her death, is that so much of it at the moment is tied up with deals where she has sold the pictures herself (so in those cases, for example, the boys' faces are not pixellated as would usually be the case).

I wouldn't dream of judging Jade. Or Max Clifford come to that. He has already advised her to knock it on the head. But I think her self-esteem is so irrevocably tied up with her press coverage that she would actually find it more painful if the headlines stopped, like she had died already.

EdwardBear · 16/03/2009 21:12

If I was dying and had the choice to do it quietly or to do it in the press and in doing so ensure my children had the future I always dreamed of for them, I know what I'd do.
I'd do anything to make sure my children were taken care of if I had to leave them.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 16/03/2009 21:17

I've not read any of the stories (even since this all began) but I must admit the headlines made me feel a bit uncomfortable this morning.
I do believe the media should step back now. The headlines now are what I would class as private, and should not be splashed on the front pages.

5inthebed · 16/03/2009 21:52

Last week, there was a lot of "Jade's final interview" I think she gave about 3 of them!

I think that what started as Jadde trying to secure a future for her boys has blown up in her face, and now the press/paps are relishing in this. I thought the last magazine article (Hello! or OK) of her getting christened with her boys was very tacky and in bad taste. She was in her hospital gown clearly looking very tired and drawn. Why would anybody want to make a 12 page spread on all of that?

I have never been a fan of Jade Goody, but it does seem sad that every last minute of her life is going to be tabloided. She is trying to protect her boys from seeing her dying, but what are they going to think in years to come when they can freely access all the stories on the internet?

Oh my money's on a 'miracle recovery' and the hospital having mixed up her records or something. Because it's just getting loopier and more tasteless by the minute. Crazed hammer-wielding intruders? Deathbed christenings? Countdowns to her final moment?(Must be fun being the sub-editor with the responsibility for calculating that one...)
