Don't need to click the link. I think in our case the third child was definitely the result of 'irresponsibility'. And wine.

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 20:14

oh marvellous, something else to feel guilty about

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 20:15

he's not advocating a compulsory limit

well thats good of him

FAQinglovely · 18/02/2009 20:16

haha Lancelottie - I can beat you there, DS2 was a "well nothing is happening in that department so I'd missed one or two of the pill" and then a "omg we've had too much wine and actually done it - nah sure I can't have got pg".............2 weeks later "oops I am"

DS3 was once again a "nothing much happening that department" - too much wine and whisky, an "oh shit" after the deed, MAP in the morning, of FARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRK 2 weeks later

21 months later I'm tearing my hair out with him but he's still adorable

(btw also haven't read the link)

Divineintervention · 18/02/2009 20:16

I'm sure dc4 is going to cure cancer and invent a new fuel from thin air... so I'm justified!

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 20:16

I LOVE the second comment from that girl Kirstine

Chatkins · 18/02/2009 20:18

My dad has the same opinions as this man !

Are there any educated answers I can fire back at him with ?

I thought, for instance, that the population is getting older, and there is a worry there will not be enough young people to work and care for the eldery, in years to come ?

Chatkins · 18/02/2009 20:19

hello dizzy, by the way !

lol me too Dizzy - very good comment - much better than the "I've got too much time on my hands and am a proper lentil weaving, home baking mummy" first comment

Flumpybumpy · 18/02/2009 20:20

LL, our third was wine and a bubble bath totally irresponsible but we did share the bath so saved water so my conscious is clear

we recycled the wine bottles after both DS2 and 3's "deeds".........................

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 20:22

and we haven't washed the sheets since conceiving DD1

somehow ladies I don't think we're taking this seriously lol

gigglewitch · 18/02/2009 20:23

happy to be irresponsible.
Thank you.

bUt that plan is funadamentally flawed.

Cos if we were all restricted to 2 offspring the worldwide population would actually shrink.

Cos every couple needs to produce 2 offspring that gets to adulthood and is fertile to produce another 2 offspring etc.....just to maintain the population as it is.

Sadly not all of us actually select a "mate" in adulthood....so someone needs to have their children
Even more sadly some of us will reach adulthood without being fertile....so some of us need to have more children to maintain a stable population
And Even more sadly not all children will survive to adulthood.

So as a biologist....with an understanding of population dynamics I feel justified in having 3 children

gigglewitch · 18/02/2009 20:27

anyway, we're really green we used the same pram, cot and toys (i could go on) for all of them. Now how good recycling is that?
Am totally justified. of course.

SlightlyMadScotland · 18/02/2009 20:28

Chatkins - check out my post for you dad!

ScorpiowithabigS · 18/02/2009 20:28

couples remain childless, or just have one or two??

I could not just have 1 or 2, no no no. I don't feel irresponsible at all!

LoveBuckets · 18/02/2009 20:28

PMSL at everyone. God I love MN. (Also got 2 out of 3 alcohol-induced babies here.)

I do think perhaps changing attitudes to contraception (and access to it) in places where people are actually starving might be a less controversial direction for FOE.

FAQinglovely · 18/02/2009 20:29

well DS3 was today wearing a top that was given to me by my cousin, her DS1 and 2 wore it, my DS1 and 2 wore it too.

His trousers were ones passed onto me by another friend

ScorpiowithabigS · 18/02/2009 20:29

also it feels as if you cannot win - people saying you shouldnt rely on state benefits for child rearing (and dont have more dc whilst in receipt of them). Now don't have more than 2 for the environment?? Whatever next??
