Don't lnow if anyone has already posted (have checked can't see anything) .

I am shocked that she even thought using the term was acceptable .

Silly silly ignorant woman.

oh blimey. At fdirst i thought she had mentioned the word golliwog as in talking of the dolls or the robinson jam logo , BUT to use it at a person, unbelievable.

Disappointed really, as I like her.

ComeWhineWithMe · 03/02/2009 18:19

I quite liked her too didnt think she was such an idiot .

Reminds me of when I was training to be a beauty therapist. I really can't remember why she said it, but one of my tutors referred to black people as gollywogs. She said, bearing in mind one of the ladies in the class partner was black, 'they're called gollywogs aren't they? well, no they're not....' and then a horrible uncomfortable silence. She was bonkers though.

SheikYerbouti · 03/02/2009 18:27

sorry for hijack

ChiefMangosuthuButhelezi · 03/02/2009 18:30

Hey hey!!!!!! [all excited now]

Sheiky, sorry I have deregistered for a while, I'll probably come back tommorrow though. The one that deregistered and then re registered is angering me and so is her sister, and I am on the verge of saying something, especially as she has deleted me and kept dh. She can't have him if she has deleted me.

Bit juvenile of me, probably

pointydog · 03/02/2009 18:31

She has always looked like an idiot

Quattrocento · 03/02/2009 18:36

Such a surprise, when she had such enlightened humanists for parents ...

SheikYerbouti · 03/02/2009 18:37

Tell DH to delete her (sorry comewhinewithme)

ChiefMangosuthuButhelezi · 03/02/2009 18:41

Don't really want to rock the boat because her sister is on my friends list and chances are I will have to see her every day when Ds starts school (if he gets a place that is) and because of social niceness and etiquette I will have to be all pleasant and friendly. Damn social niceness.

southeastastra · 03/02/2009 19:04

omg that's terrible! must have been acceptable in the thatcher household then

pointydog · 03/02/2009 19:18

She'll be no loss to telly. She has little talent.

spokette · 03/02/2009 19:25

I was recently called a golliwog whilst I was walking by some repugnant coward driving a car.

The fact that she so easily used the term speaks volumes about the type of person that she really is.

Glad the BBC have not tried to defend her position.

wheresthehamster · 03/02/2009 19:30

I'm disappointed because I liked her on I'm a Celeb.

NoBiggy · 03/02/2009 19:31

Do we know what she actually said?

GrimmaTheNome · 03/02/2009 19:35

even for someone of an age to have grown up collecting the badges, thats indefensible.

Anyone else seen, in the nursery of an NT or suchlike house, the most un-PC children's book ever - The Golliwogs go hunting.

Thank goodness times change.

domesticslattern · 03/02/2009 19:36

Such a lovely family, all of them.

policywonk · 03/02/2009 19:38

I heard her interviewed on the radio a couple of months ago. She sounded really, really thick.

pointydog · 03/02/2009 19:41

she always does, wonk

NoBiggy · 03/02/2009 19:42

Her brother's a twit too.

Funny how things turn out.

Kevlarhead · 03/02/2009 19:55

Well, you've got to look at the form here...

mm22bys · 04/02/2009 08:23

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that it was a private conversation. Some people say that it shows what she is really like for her even to have used the word, but this was a first "offence" wasn't it?

Why is JR basically excused for offending an old man on air, and CT sacked?

It really shows that the worst thing you can be is "racist", even in a private setting....

nickschick · 04/02/2009 08:32

Nepotism is the only reason shes on tv anyway - she looks like a bloke in drag imo.

edam · 04/02/2009 08:39

I'm agree with the Beeb on this one but FFS, 'looks like a bloke in drag'? How can you criticise someone for making a racist remark by making a sexist one yourself?

nickschick · 04/02/2009 09:08

because shes not aesthetically(sp) pleasing is she?

Most of the women who get to go on these programmes are selected for intelligence, looks or personality she falls short - so one can only summise its the old 'jobs for the boys' thing again....

Litchick · 04/02/2009 11:07

She described Andy Murray's hair as 'like a gollywog' during an off air conversation.
I'm not sure she should be sacked for that.
