I'm forwarding it as alot of people feel strongly.

Your choice to read it or not as you feel.Nothing to do with me.

ClaireDeLoon · 13/11/2008 22:21

God the Sun is awful

LittleBella · 13/11/2008 22:22

It's the Sun FFS

Yurtgirl · 13/11/2008 22:25

But you didnt say what it was all about - why not link to a decent newspaper

See HERE - isnt exactly an explanation is it

I feel strongly about this but I need to read a reliable and intelligent article

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:31

This was forwarded to me via E Mail.I just forwarded it.I feel strongly about it,in lots of ways, both personally and professionally. If i made these sort of "mistakes" in my daily working life and didn't follow the guidelines and procedures that are in place to protect myself and the "people" I deal with my "neck would be on the block",and it would be a "witch hunt".As it should be IMO

I would be sacked and I wouldn't be allowed to do my job anymore, which seems right to me.

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:33

Feel free to comment or slate me,but I was just forwarding this.My opinions and feelings aren't important, and I haven't done this to discuss it here.

Carmenere · 13/11/2008 22:36

Oh FFS, if I wanted to read the Sun I would buy it. And if you want to change the system go into politics.

well why not call for gordon browns resignation.
at the end of the day he is the main man, and the buck stops there. maybe if the goverment gave ss more money they would be able to do their job properly(my sw once couldn't attend dd's AR due to no money for his petrol)
what good will a witch hunt do?? apart form to make you and people who sign feel better

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:38

Pass

As I said on the other thread:

I don't know enough about the details of this case to enable me, in all conscience, to sign a petition baying for the blood of named individuals.

The Sun is hardly a shining example of a moral guardian, is it?

It is naive to assume they are doing all this just because they care.

They are attempting to harness the shock and horror that we all feel about this dreadful case, and convert that into newspaper sales.

2shoes · 13/11/2008 22:41

pass?

nancy75 · 13/11/2008 22:41

in fact this kind of witch hunt does so much more harm than good. seeing how they are treated how many people who might have gone into social work and really made a difference will now decide to do something else instead? its a bloody tough job and yes terrible mistakes were made but the sun and its petition are not going to change that.

Carmenere · 13/11/2008 22:41

I cannot see, honestly, how some people cannot see someone has made a massive error along the way. And that has to be found out, not swept under the carpet. As I said before the other thread was deleted, a SW who lied in the VC case was on this one. I am not saying they did anything wrong here, but clearly someone did. And it is just not fair on thousands of children if this gets swept under the carpet. There is nothing we can do for baby Peter now, but we can help it happen again. It's not revenge, it's prevention.

Sawyer64 · 13/11/2008 22:46

Here Here Lady at last something I agree with.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 13/11/2008 22:47

Ah, the Sun, where I turn for all my tricky ethical decisions

what a ridiculous thing to post, and in such a ridiculous way - see here indeed.

get over yourself.

Saturn74 · 13/11/2008 22:47

Those responsible must be held accountable.
Lessons must be learnt.
Prevention is important.

A hysterical petition from The Sun will not achieve any of those things.

LadyOfRObamaffle · 13/11/2008 22:49

Makes me so upset to think 'bumsex' gets dragged out for a good giggle over and over but yet, amongst the 1000's of threads on a parenting site there is , what 5?, about this and there are cries of "not again" etc.

No one has to sign, but there may be a few who do. Just ignore if you don't. I don't do bulldozing around threads I don't want to participate in, I roll my eyes and keep scrolling.
