Yes it's awful
Etc.
But we don't need a McCann-esque thread frenzy all saying the same thing.

OP posts:
Aitch · 15/11/2008 10:35

HOW is it bullying, fgs? ye gods, you people...

Aitch · 15/11/2008 10:42

do you know what, VS, that has royally pissed me off. YOU are the one rabble-rousing on YOUR thread with YOUR cronies and talking about putting your 'knuckle dusters' on before coming over here. people speaking on the affirmative here are a disparate group of people who happen to agree with each other, your lot are at it, and gleefully coming over here for, as i said before 'a fight that isn't being fought'.

slim22 · 15/11/2008 11:03

Shabster I said before so sorry for your loss but you are taking this very personally.
Concur with what littlelapin already said.

Oh, Aitch, don't get all worked up. Time to let this die out no? come on, let's go enjoy this saturday afternoon.

missyhissey · 15/11/2008 11:07

she's not rabble rousing. (there you go again with your emotive language)
This thread is distressing for some people (particularly on the bereavment threads) and they are understandably reacting to it. You can't say the sort of stuff that's been said on here and expect people just to meekly accept it.

2shoes · 15/11/2008 11:31

why do people insist on makeing everything all about them?

slim22 · 15/11/2008 11:39

because they are hurting very much inside maybe?

brightongirldownunder · 15/11/2008 11:52

Can i just add here that if you buy newspapers of any description there will be stories like Baby P's repeated day after day. If I find it too much, I turn over the page.
I don't understand why people are getting so heated about the repetition on here. Its bonkers. You're all going to get seriously high blood pressure.
Cor lumme. Calm down.
Have a babysham and watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or something.
SGB - you seem to enjoy using the term "buckethead" - did you start stirring on the "driving without seatbelts" thread around the same time as this? You have issues, dear.

Shame, let it be noted I right ROYALLY pissed Aitch off...... te he he

MsPalin · 15/11/2008 13:11

Why would you be proud of that though VS?

Why would anyone be PROUD of annoying someone else? I don't get it.

I'm proud of all sorts of things but riling other people doesn't make me (or most decent people) proud.

MsPalin · 15/11/2008 13:13

And I think, Shabster, that you may have misunderstood entirely the concept of 'karma' - let me find you a link.

MsPalin · 15/11/2008 13:16

Karma

pagwatch · 15/11/2008 13:25

I posted yesterday asking if it were possible to have a rational discussion aboutthis.

the answer is clearly no. I posted a fairly rational comment (unusual eh ) saying that i thought that the two 'sides' of arguement that have evolved here are mostly misinterpreting each other and - as someone who can actually see that there are very valid arguements on both side ()- there was a moderate discussion to be had.
The only person who responded to me at all diliberately ignored everything rational I had said and chose to misinterpret instead

So many hours later I am at the level of shit being thrown by both groups. And the absoloute determination to twist and distort others comments for quite nasty purposes - which IMO is just as unpleasant as saying nasty things yourself.

Whilst discussing competive grieving perhaps I should throw the discussion on to a thread called competetive misinterpreting or competetive distortion.

Who's up for it?

zippitippitoes · 15/11/2008 13:31

i suggested mn delete this thread

"what about deleting this thread

it is just a very unedifying slanging match and doing no one any good"

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 13:37

I personally prefer this thread and other Baby P threads to be left. It allows people to form their own judgment about the IMO bullying tactics of some posters.

zippitippitoes · 15/11/2008 13:44

well imo mn is going downhill

if threads like these stay

i am shocked at the stuff people are posting on this site

i want nothing more to do with it

good luck to you all

Shabster - the post you made Sat 15-Nov-08 00:55:27 in particular

You are stating your inferences as fact. imo this constitutes a personal attack. I don't recognise cod at all from your description.

A question: why does cod matter so much to you? Can't you just let it go?

Twiglett · 15/11/2008 14:00

Cod is a kind, witty, acerbic and forthright friend who pops the bubbles of up-their-own-arse, poncetastic and self-righteous posters with a HUGE needle.

This place has been weaker, sadder and more netmums since she, and others, have stopped posting as much.

I suppose it is now bequeathed to you. I hope you treat it well because really at the moment the USP of witty, intelligent parents is totally lost in the quagmire of dull indignation.

I'd love to return to MN as was one day .. that is why I keep a check on the board. So far it's continuing to spiral downwards with occasional glimmers.

I have been surfing Mumsnet for a couple of years now and it has been like this since I have 'involved' myself. You've just got to be careful which thread you go on, stay away from sensationalist style headings if you want a 'reasonable' chat.

izyboy · 15/11/2008 14:09

...but by all means climb on board and be the 'voice of reason' - all welcome!

IAmNotHere · 15/11/2008 14:10

Did she dittany? Are you two close?

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 14:19

I am sorry that Cod and family got threatened. Personally I don't miss Cod or even notice her absence. I have detected any loss of inteliigence on mn. But perhaps I have not annointed myself as mn police with acres of time so could not possibly see or much less judge the justification of a thread to exist on this board. If a topic does not catch my interest or is on a subject I don't care to participate in however many times it appears in one form or another on active convos, I don't click into it.

Problem solved. I would urge others to try it. Also keeps my skin unlined and grey out of my hair.

southeastastra · 15/11/2008 14:21

agree with twig! where you been twig?

what has this thread got to do with cod anyway?
