Yes it's awful
Etc.
But we don't need a McCann-esque thread frenzy all saying the same thing.

If you feel personally insulted by comments, report them to MN or challenge the poster on the same thread. It's pathetic to run off and bitch about them on another thread.

I would be very sad if mumsnet became less diverse. I love mumsnet for it's diversity, that's half the fun.

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 14:32

twig, I find 'I suppose it is now bequeathed to you' an interesting turn of phrase. Did Cod and the friends you describe actually own mn so as to 'bequeath' it in their absence? Speaks volumes for their attitude.

Something I always remind myself when I get too big for my boots - no one is indispensable. I have seen this proven over and over again in the workplace.

IAmNotHere · 15/11/2008 14:40

blueshoes 'bequeath' doesn't solely pertain to property

combustiblelemon · 15/11/2008 14:44

Cod must be PHSL. She's gone and you still can't stop talking about her.

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 14:46

Iamnothere, could you clarify your point? 'Bequeath' is used in wills to denote the deceased's personal estate passing upon death. You cannot bequeath anything you don't own. Which is my point.

PtolemysMummy · 15/11/2008 14:50

Please step away from the thread
Go and read about what's happening in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

missyhissey · 15/11/2008 14:52

Exactly blueshoes. It comes back to the attitude that some posters think they can censor what is said and not said on mumsnet.
Which is where this thread started I think.

i think that's quite out of order blunt. she and the others who don't post anymore made mn what it was.

it's dull without them and boring alot of the time.

i certainly didn't think she was a bully either.

the beauty of mn was that it was self regulated but everyone more or less agreeed to the code of conduct, now it's just a free for all and not as clever or funny imho

IAmNotHere · 15/11/2008 14:57

OED - I've removed examples. will c&p entire definition on request.

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/11/2008 14:58

Bequeath can also refer to things other than property.

And can I state here that I am concerned that posters are still carping on about someone who cannot defend themselves on this forum.

Pretty beastly doncha think.

Urgh I can't believe that you have repeated that little gem.

See you are part of a little gang all of your own, no? Sticking up for each other I see.

Hmm

Twiglett · 15/11/2008 15:07

talking behind people's backs when they do not have the right or ability to reply is crass and dishonourable.

Blunt .. the word is 'moot' not 'mute'

blueshoes · 15/11/2008 15:07

thanks for that Iamnothere. 'Bequeath' is a term of art (I described) and the other meanings you listed which arise from or are related to it. The fact is, Twig used 'bequeath' in the broad sense of 'give'. And you cannot give something if you do not own or possess it. Again my point.
