It's getting more serious now. Just as Donald Trump praises Putin as a humanitarian.

OP posts:

And we're supposed to do what exactly in response to this?

LindaJonesJustCantLiveMYLifeNSoul · 22/10/2026 22:16

The cyber attacks are not new but they're a very real threat the over reliance on all things digital is going to bite us on the arse.
Time for UK to disengage with Trump he's a Russian asset that cannot be trusted.

DorsetKnobBiscuit · 22/10/2026 22:23

There's always something.

SpottyAlpaca · 22/10/2026 22:27

Politicians need to understand that nobody believes a word of their fearmongering lies any more, and that trying to weaponise fear as a method of controlling the population will not work a second time.

Folol me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

They've literally been telling us for the last month. 3 days worth of food ,water and medication and keep devices and power banks charged.

Willowskyblue · 22/10/2026 22:28

That’s why we keep some cash at home. It happened in my home country when a large earthquake struck - the digital payment system went down for a good few days and people were stuffed if they had no cash.

ShowOfHands · 22/10/2026 22:30

Our local school has closed tomorrow because of a cyber security attack. They can't even email parents and are relying on word of mouth.

Local FB page has a lot to say about it.

Bikenutz · 22/10/2026 22:30

Yes - that was my first thought on reading this. Surely the logical thing is to carry cash. And get in the habit of using food shops with short supply chains.

Where've you been - keep a supply of food and essential medicines in.

I work in cyber security, its not if, its when.

I'm not sure how many shops in my area would be able to take cash but it'll be good at the pub to drown our sorrows! 😃

I have a feeling something big is very imminent.

70yrolddriver · 22/10/2026 22:35

He is on Question Time tonight. Should be interesting.

RaggedRocks · 22/10/2026 22:38

About time, we had a proper war.

LastTrainsEast · 22/10/2026 22:44

Just tell Putin that if we are attacked in any way we will increase the quantity and power of the weapons we send to Ukraine.

Perhaps we have something they can use to reach his house.

IndieRocknRoll · 22/10/2026 22:44

Is there a preppers thread? What sort of food supplies are people keeping?

LastTrainsEast · 22/10/2026 22:46

This will likely drag on for years with nothing much happening, but I recommend gradually increasing stores of toilet roll and other useful stuff because we might get people panic buying and that's the kind of thing they will empty the shelves off.

Just an extra few a week, a few tins of something you will use up in time and so on.

RaggedRocks · 22/10/2026 22:49

So if the leccy goes off, my freezer goes off. I can't cook my stored potatoes or rice. My bread maker doesn't work without leccy, so what am I supposed to stock up on?

Canned food.

Small local independent shops will. Nobody else will.

There are things you can get to cook on in an emergency.

We're still in a bit of a transition stage where I live. Some shops only accept cards and others only accept cash. I try to pay in cash to keep it going, in case of this kind of scenario. I suggest others do the same.
