It's really bizarre to assume a woman would only allow a man into her hotel room in order to have sex. This is effectively the same as saying all men are rapists - women should keep men out of their rooms unless they want the men to get their dicks out!

I'm pretty sure the people who criticise women for inviting men to their rooms are the same ones who'd be outraged at any suggestion that you can't trust a man not to rape you. So which is it? You can't trust men, or you generally can?

I think the issue is that in a court of law won't the defence make this into an issue to show that you can't rule out invitation to consensual sex? It is awful to say but the defence will argue that inviting a man into a private hotel room where there other multiple rooms for social discourse will show that there was some tacit invitation to a possibility of a sexual encounter. The defence may try to show Brand has slept with many other women with consent in other situations so what makes this encounter different? To me there is a lot of scope for the defence to see doubt.

Are you for real?!?!?!
You think inviting someone in to wait for a taxi is SO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from someone chatting to a guy (who they thought was gay) about a project they could do, so invited him up to her room to discuss further?!?!?

A woman can do WHATEVER THE HELL SHE LIKES. If a guy isn't intent on raping her, she won't be raped.

Please, please tell me how I can get millions from someone by crying rape, without going through utter hell to even begin trying to prove it, while being slaughtered in the dock?
I can't think of more than one individual who earned millions from doing something similar - and she k**led herself anyway.

It is different. She took pictures of him as well which is weird.
*These women came forward to a tv channel, not the police.
*This is all coming out after Brand has decided to start right-leaning and speak against the media.
*Not one of these women decide to report the rape at the time?
*No you can’t get money without going to court, the type of woman that would falsely accuse someone simply doesn’t care what they look like
*Brand is obviously in to weird or extreme sex, do you not think it likely some of these women are more likely just ashamed after the fact of what they allowed him to do?
*Brand is not Jimmy Saville or Harvey Weinstein. At one point he literally had queues of women outside of his house waiting for him to get home, waiting to have sex with him. He’d choose the hottest women out of the queue and have sex with a different woman every day. That doesn’t mean he’s not a rapist, but none of these literally thousands of women had anything bad to report about him at the time?
Sure

Outrageous to say someone might not have been a rapist? Not really that outrageous is it. Calm down

The issue is whether you like it or not these arguments and others are going to be used by Brands presumably expensive lawyers to show that the crimes cannot be proved beyond reasonable doubt. The jury are going to be ultimately faced with the decision about destroying a man's life (and also his family's) and you would hope they would not make that decision without being 100% sure. In my personal opinion the defence has a lot of scope to sew doubt.

But for rapists rape isn’t about sex it’s about power.

Yes, it’s feeding in to one of the stereotypes isn’t it; ‘why would a man rape when he’s got women queuing up to have sex with him?’ It’s entry-level dimness not to see that it’s not about that.

Im not saying he’s guilty of everything he’s charged with, but some men do it because they can.

CrikeyNumpty · 16/10/2026 08:13

I wonder what his wife’s parents and wider family think of all this? Leaving aside the rape accusations, just the way he now presents as a messiah figure. I find him sinister.

Please do a smidge of research on the court case.

None of the complainants in the court case were involved with the documentary, it’s a different group of women.

There is no money, fame or adulation to be made for coming forward with this. None of the women in court are making any money!

Rape is rarely about sex it’s usually about power.

Complainant 1 describes vaginal rape, in missionary lasting about 5 minutes. He wasn’t famous or known then. What’s so depraved and sexually risky about that that 24 years later she’d go to the police to say she was raped?

Other comedians and industry people who worked with or alongside him knew he was dodgy, it was an open secret. All the defending you’re doing is why women don’t come forward.

For someone with such a strong opinion about this case you aren’t reading any of the actual reporting properly.

They are not the same women who came forward to the tv show, they are a different group of women who came forward (individually, separately to each other and not knowing each other) to the police. If you had actually read anything to do with the case you would know that.

Perhaps read around it properly before coming back again? Otherwise you sound silly and uninformed.

I don’t believe for one second that Russell Brand is innocent but having been the victim in a rape trial myself I know how it works, I don’t think he’ll be found guilty.
I really really hope I’m wrong.
I felt a bit sorry for his wife at the beginning of the week but after reading the victims stories I know longer do, she’s an idiot for marrying him in the first place but to let him raise your daughters.. beyond stupid of her.

You make an unsupported assertion that their lives are ruined? They are not the ones whose names are blazoned all over the press and media with spiteful comments from vindictive keyboard warriors.
We don’t yet know what the truth is.

Absolutely.
Can you admit it seems a bit strange that not one of them reported him at the time?

I suggest that you Google "why don't women and girls report sexual violence?" You will find that the reasons are myriad. When i was 15 i was assaulted by a male doctor, i was so shocked, upset and confused that i never told a soul.He was an authority figure, I was a school child, I didn't think anyone would believe me and the chances were they wouldn't have . Many years later i did tell a friend and it transpired that he had done the same thing to her, she too had been 15 and like me just did her best to forget about it. This story is a microcosm of female experience; try and learn from it.

Given that men commit most violent crimes against women and other men, most women have been victims of some kind of sexual intimidation from disgusting comments to rape, plus the interrogations women have to go trough to even have their case considered, I don’t believe many women make false accusations. I do believe that a high number of men sexually assault women as research has shown.

Don't bother with this menz troll. He's getting off on the attention. Sad(do).

Is it your belief they will get money out of Russell Brand from a criminal court?

Yes because he's a man who hates women and thinks we are all whores.

That's exactly where he's going.

That despite the statistics any woman who says she was raped is a money hungry liar desperate to ruin some poor man's reputation for cash.

Fuck him and anyone who rode in on him.

Misogynist cunt.

You just unlocked an unplesant memory. When i was 19 i went to the doctor with terrible tonsilitis, i could barely talk and felt so weak as i hadn't eaten in 3 days. I had put on a t-shirt with no bra and jogging bottoms as it was all i could do that morning before dad drive me to the surgery. The young doctor examined me, but i noticed he kept looking at my chest (i was only a 34A back then). After prescribing my antibiotics he started asking me if i checked my breasts and said i should be doing that and he could show me how. I was shocked but i could hardly talk, i just got out of there asap. I was so ill i ended up in hospital later, i couldn't deal with the incident, and i had no idea what to fo about it anyway. I didn't want to tell my dad, i didn't want to upset him and the words just wouldn't come.

I'm so sorry to hear you got assaulted, i was very lucky that day that i got away before he touched me. Im my case the doctor in question actually got sacked from the practice for having an affair with a receptionist a couple of years later.
