Jimmy Saville was a proven child molester…Hardly the same as Russell Brand.

Jimmy Savile (please note spelling: the man, not the city) was not proved to have been a molester of children (and woman: according to Hunt's apology for not having caught him, Savile had sexually assaulted victims aged between 5 and 75 in NHS hospitals) until after his death. He died in 2011, and the facts started to be published in 2012. His predation was a very open secret in some sections of society, such as the nurses at the various hospitals he frequented, and sixteen-year-old girls in London in the early 1970s, but was covered up by people in authority. And his crimes were either not reported at the time, or minimised and never pursued.

Brand has admitted to sexual abuse of women; in fact he has boasted of it, and is being tried for it in a court of law.

So indeed, not the same as each other.

I met my husband in 2007 and told him an account of my friend who was a support worker that Savile had keys to the morgue at stoke mandeville hospital and got up to things…he replied don’t be so ridiculous and what a load of rubbish

chilling eh - it was that common knowledge - plenty of people knew

people find it really hard to accept some things.

He wasn’t a celebrity when they all were raped.

Did you forget the me too movement? Powerful men get away with this because they are untouchable and they know women are afraid to speak out & people like you won’t believe them

A relative trained at Stoke Mandeville Hospital where Saville visited; even back in the early 80s he was known to be dodgy and my relative (young trainee nurse) remembers being told not to be alone with him or to leave him alone with kids. Open secret

‘ I second guessed myself because it was so normal’
Wonder how many people think that when they’re being raped.
Any stats ?

Can't you look it up yourself or find another way to get your kicks? You seem very very keen to

  1. Defend Russel Brand
  2. Ask women to do research/provide anecdotes on rape for you

"Just asking questions" though hmmmm

I can understand that actually. He kissed her, he left her his email address, he made out like it was ok. He wasn’t a bogey man who jumped out from behind a bush. The thing of thinking did I say no loud enough, maybe i should have screamed. Believe me those thoughts are normal.

i was raped by a man I worked with as a 16yo virgin. My parents were away and he said let’s go on a date, my first date with him. He got me blind drunk. He was sober and driving and took me home. I thought he’d leave but he insisted on coming in. We watched a film. He then said i should give him a tour of the house and I said no but he took my hand and pulled me up the stairs. Into my room and onto the bed. I said no, i didn’t want to do it. I said I’d never done it before. He had sex with me anyway.

It took me some time to realise that was rape. Even though I’d said no. Even though I was so drunk I was struggling to stand. Even though I knew i didn’t want it and had repeatedly told him that. I didn’t scream, i didn’t punch him. He stayed the night and cuddled me. I mean rapists don’t do that do they?

I never reported him. My mum would have been mad and would have said it was my fault. I knew people wouldn’t believe me. They’d say he’d dumped me or something and I was trying to cover up being a slag.

As far as I know the allegations against Brand have only been fairly recent.
As I said Saville had his accusers as early as the 50s.
But Brand veered away from the establishment line years ago, someone like Saville was protected way more than Brand.
And again Saville was a child molester

Yes with my friend she told me in about 1993

It’s horrific isn’t it - people are missing the context of all this

I have had several women of over 60
confess to me while walking the dogs about being raped - it was me that had to keep saying that was rape and they were struggling to see it so clearly - one of them was by a male friend who was sleeping on her sofa - she was confused about it because she seemed to think men were entitled to sex (different era) - she described just going limp and then both saying nothing about it afterwards but when she was telling me she was clearly traumatised

You only have to read some of the threads on here to see that women can sometimes find it hard to actually accept/realise they have been raped. For obvious reasons.

Your posts are a bit concerning IMHO.

Eta: cross posted with @Tinydanceer who has given an example of what I mean.

Or they saw it and the shame they felt disappeared and anger and a need for justice came forth as they realised he’s prolific and it’s not just a one off.

Prottttt · 15/10/2026 18:55

How would they know the percentage of unreported rapes if they aren’t reported? Not being facetious, I am genuinely interested in the statistics around this. For example, the % of false accusations statistic is woefully incorrect - it only accounts for the false allegations that are proven and prosecuted, not allegations that are probably false and lead to NFA.

There is no completely 100%way statistically of getting this figure... But we KNOW from all the evidence of different agencies and also personal testimonies... That rape is one of the the most under reported crimes out of the total array of contact offences...

On your other post - I think it’s completely feasible to think someone is gay - gay men often pair up with women - he was unusual in his style and flamboyant too - of course you’d invite someone like that back to your hotel room just like a girlfriend

anyway - all that needs to be established is consent

You said no. So it is rape. Unless you’re a child like Savilles victims, what is there to second guess.
The report I read there was no mention of the woman saying no against Brand.
But someone said in another report one of them did say that.
So, I don’t know.
But Brand is hardly a protected celebrity anymore like Saville was, he’s been quite outspoken about going against the establishment with what he talks about. It seems like a hatchet job to me but I guess we’ll see or maybe not.

I do think there’s an argument for retrospective reinterpretation. Obviously this is not the case in all accusations of rape, but it is something that the police and CPS test for obvious reasons. Particularly if there has been a relationship that has ended acrimoniously, allegations of abuse that were never reported or mentioned previously, often get brought up during Family Court cases, for example.

The very fact there are so many women making similar allegations against RB does not bode well.

The gay thing doesn’t really matter like you said it’s about consent but why even feel the need to mention it?

Egghead
yes she was a ‘proper’ victim, what happened was she went on a date with somebody, and they had walked back to her house, he asked if he can come in to wait for a taxi and she said yes. They were sat on her sofa and he kissed her and she pushed him away and said it was too soon , he then grabbed her and pushed her down on the sofa and raped her while she said no and was crying…
Is that what constitutes a proper rape to you?
Russell brand might have raped someone or most likely since none of these seven women came forward (bullshit), he was just in to doing weird sex with them which they went along because he is famous and then they’ve seen this documentary. It’s really not the same at all is it, unless they did say no, but apart from Brand being a weirdo, I don’t think anyone has claimed that yet?
So it’s really very different isn’t it?

You still haven’t told us how a woman can easily get money from a man without going to court and successfully accusing him of something..
But you know everything so, come on, let’s hear it

You don’t do irony do you. Proper victims and proper rapes is the sort of attitude you’ve shown, it’s not what I think.

I said there are easier ways to get money than pretending to be raped. No way am i answering your demands to list them. Surely pretty much anything would be easier. You didn’t engage with the rest of my post so I don’t feel any need to answer your silly questions.

very few men on trial for rape or sexual assault plead guilty, my attacker pleaded "not guilty" despite there being overewhelming evidence includng loads of CCTV of him following me whle masturbating, me crossing the road over and over again trying to shake him off and the attack being witnessed. , There was no CCTV in the area where he actually grabbed me, My support worker told me that the "not guilty" plea means that the victim will have to give evidence and be cross-examined, and many understandably cannot face this. So it is a tactic used by the defendant as well as the fact that the majority of then don't think they have done anything wrong, It's a long hard road from the intial report to the court case and I like many others had times of feeling that i could not take any more stress. The night before my case was heard I phoned the police and told them I could not face it and in fact could not go on, They came round and did a welfare check and really boosted me up so that I did end up going to court. He got done in the end, but it was a draining and difficult process

God above I did just try reading his tribute to Amy winehouse but it’s terribly written! Crimes against punctuation.
No I’m very much not perfect - I’m far, far better at spotting a decent writer than I am at writing.

i was at a festival (greenbelt, it’s an arts/religion one) where he was speaking once. I don’t really like him but he was the main act on the Saturday evening at about 7 so I thought I’d watch. He was helicoptered in, left everyone waiting in 35 degree heat for an hour and a half then was so terrible I lasted about ten minutes! He does a very good job of disguising his average intelligence with a LOT of big words in the hope that people won’t spot he is speaking utter crap.

Plus he does look smelly. 😂

Fireants · 15/10/2026 21:18

For a while, in the 90s, he came into our office. He still looked pretty normal, no eye makeup and no back-combed hair. I got into so much trouble because he downloaded porn on my computer.
