Sikh mum stabbed to death in her home and husband injured by stranger

I think this story deserves more press. A Sikh woman- a new mum- was murdered in her home as she was asleep with her baby, by a complete stranger with a knife. This report mentions another man was injured, which in other reports turned out to be her husband. It;s alarming and needs further investigation, I believe.

The article you linked to says her husband was asleep beside her. And that the attacker had injured another man in the street outside.

There’s definitely a lot of information missing there. Why would a man break into the house of people he didn’t know and murder the woman asleep in bed beside her husband, but not attack the husband??

Or was it the husband who was outside in the street? In which case why go inside and murder the wife whom he apparently didn’t know?

All very unclear. TBH (and obviously I could be completely wrong) I’m getting vibes of the South African honeymoon murder where it was the husband who paid for his wife to be killed by a randomer. But maybe easier to find in SA than in west London.

The perp's motive is definitely unclear, and so is the identity of the other victim.

Obviously knife crime is not exactly new, but to enter a house and stab a stranger- a new mum next to her baby- seems incredibly brutal.

I agree and thought the very same last night. Where is the outrage for this poor woman ?

I believe the police are investigating motive. Could be mental illness. The Sikh community thinks its a hate crime.

I only heard about it today on the lunchtime news, because the family had released a photo.

It happened on Sunday and the suspect (who has since appeared in court) was arrested shortly after. I think that's why there wasn't more publicity - there's usually a lot of publicity when the suspect isn't known or is on the loose.

There was ‘breaking news’ on Sky News that a police incident had occurred and a man arrested, but it does seem to slipped under the radar. Home invasions like this are rare in this country, but we appear to have had two days apart. Very sad.

The suspect was seen earlier that day, in park dressed all in black carrying a knife.

It has been reported though, in the Telegraph and on the BBC for example. It’s so strange and unusual a case that I expect that reporters are afraid to speculate beyond the few facts that are known, in case they get it totally wrong (no matter what they say) and then look really stupid when more details come out.

The reports saying that the man in the street was the husband are wrong. That is not what was said in court. The prosecution stated that the husband, wife and child were all asleep in their bed when the attacker broke in.

According to the prosecution, footage from doorbell cameras shows the accused approaching three different properties, then coming up behind a young man and stabbing him in the back. The prosecution say that he then kicked in the door of Kirandeep Kaur's home where she was asleep in bed with her husband and baby, went to the bedroom, stabbed her in the chest then jumped out of a window, breaking his ankles.

It is not clear at this stage whether the attacks were racially motivated or if they were completely random.

So he attacked a man outside and then a young woman in bed but not her husband who was beside her?
That sounds targeted.

Assuming the prosecution is correct that he tried three houses and attacked a random man in the street before breaking in to the victim's house, either it wasn't targeted or he has gone to some lengths to disguise the fact it was.

So what is relevant information is missing and what bits are people picking out to meet whatever agenda they have?

How scary for everyone, and tragic for the mum and baby- and the husband assuming he played no part. We won’t know for a while yet, these things are messy. I’m glad they have him in custody.

I've been following this news since it happened because it's just so shocking. Such an horrendous thing to happen, a young mum stabbed to death in bed with her little baby in the same room. My thoughts are with her family and friends and of course her little baby who will now be growing up without a mum.

Absolutely nuts that you think it's ok to speculate in this way about a widower who has lost his wife and mother to his newborn child. It's immoral.
