Sikh mum stabbed to death in her home and husband injured by stranger

I think this story deserves more press. A Sikh woman- a new mum- was murdered in her home as she was asleep with her baby, by a complete stranger with a knife. This report mentions another man was injured, which in other reports turned out to be her husband. It;s alarming and needs further investigation, I believe.

There is what looks like a doorbell photo of him, very clear, just holding a knife out by his side. Seems most likely he wasn't functioning rationally.

I find it more shocking that there are any comments on here. I really don't like the way when something awful happens so many people come on MN speculating about the crime, almost turning it into a soap opera for their entertainment. It's beyond crass, and I've never encountered it anywhere else.

Thank you for saying this. I think people think they can just spout whatever nonsense comes into their head on forums and social media. People have lost all decorum with regard to tragic events.

A shocking case. It's disgraceful that there hasn't been more coverage of it in the MSM. Sadly, it doesn't fit with the media/ political zeitgeist, which is probably why.

This looks like hate attack. Who else, other than Indians or South Asians, was the attacker going to find in Hayes, where every 2nd property resident is a Punjabi family. The strange bit here is how or why there was no confrontation with the husband. Was the husband too scared that he didn't intervene ? did the attacker spared the other parent considering the small baby ? A horrific crime though nonetheless, I wish no one becomes victim of such senseless violence, RIP to the departed soul. There should be tough crackdown on the hateful speeches and far right agendas.

Thats just fucking awful, they were all asleep, the husband probably just didn’t wake up in time to realise there was a deranged man about to try to stab his wife, the guy probably ran away when the husband woke up. What kind of mind sees a family including a baby sleeping peacefully together and decides to try to kill one of them.

It’s just so sad, can’t imagine the grief the husband is experiencing, to have your wife murdered while she was right next to you. It’s horrible.

@mishu484822, he lives less than a mile away in the same area. He hadn't gone looking for a particular demographic, he was already there. Obviously none of us know, but it's more likely he went out with his knife and no particular objective, other than to do something dramatic.

He'd have had no need to break into houses to find an Indian victim. At 8 o'clock in the morning, there'd have been plenty of targets in the area.

Utterly horrific and my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Kirandeep Kaur.

This is a tragic story. That poor young woman and her poor baby. Devastating for the wider family too.

We don't know enough yet about why this happened. I don't think the speculation helps anyone. Let's wait and see what the investigation finds.

Maybe also worth pointing out when men say that women need men to protect them from danger (ie danger from other men, though they don’t like saying that) - well in this case this poor young mother wasn’t protected even by being right beside her husband. So other men clearly aren’t all that much protection at all.

He can't help it he was asleep. I'm sure he didn't want that to happen to his wife.

That’s hardly relevant to the argument that men often use that women need men to protect them.
