What are your thoughts on replacing council tax with land value tax?

So what are the thoughts to scrap council tax and instead tax value land?

that is what Andy Burnham wants to do if he gets where he want

I think in principle, the idea of taxing all income, including benefits, is good, although administratively complicated no doubt. Everyone ought to contribute. This would also take the wind out of the sails of the ‘but I don’t use the NHS/state schools’ crew.

To me a land value tax is rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. Everyone who loses out will be pissed off, it will cost a fortune, and it won’t be fair because nothing possibly can be. The ‘tax the rich’ brigade won’t change their tune, there will be lots of expensive unintended consequences, and Labour will continue their mission to make themselves look both chippy and incompetent. Meanwhile nobody will want to move house, spend any money, save any money, start a business, or so much as make a cup of tea, in case the govt suddenly decides to introduce a milk tax or a spoon tax.

Labour are on their way out, some sort of Reform/Restore/Tory thing is going to be the next government.
