Henry Nowak - just watched the video for the first time

I don’t understand how the officers could not tell he had been stabbed. He repeatedly says he can’t breathe and when he says he has been stabbed, they say, ‘I don’t think so mate.’ When he says it again they ask where and he says his face, they then roll him over so they can look at his face, and the video ends with the officer saying the handcuffed victim was likely going to be sick.

i completely understand the officers went there having been told a lie and you see the perpetrator on the video retelling the lie and claiming he’d been a victim of a racist assault, i just can’t understand how the officers didn’t recognise the guy on the floor was dying.

Please refer to the part where I called all Sikhs foreign?
My views are my own business, and since I believe all people should be considered equal in laws they're perfectly fine, thank you.

You do realise that the more you call people racist for calling out inequality the more bites the far right will accumulate? You obviously think that will never affect youx but believe me it will. And I say that as a lifelong Labour voter.

Silly sod.

You literally said “laughing at women being treated equal to foreign men” when another poster suggested women be able to carry knives just like the Sikhs. The implication being that you think all Sikhs men are foreigners. Racist.

If you don’t want to be called racist then don’t be racist. Sikhs are not foreigners.

Paperbackwrither · Yesterday 16:42

Sunglade · Yesterday 16:33

Actually made me laugh to suggest women would be given equal treatment to foreign men

Sikhs aren"t foreign men. They fought for this country in two wars.

I am ethnically Indian, though not Sikh. I did however have a number of Sikh friends growing up. Generally in my experience Sikhs are known for their kindness and balance. I have not come across another example of a murder or assault of this type. There are bad people in all groups and clearly this murderer was one. The kirpan is usually very small and not able to do any damage. Think the size of a small nail clipper. There is no religious reason why someone with a long blade should not be stopped and arrested for carrying an offensive weapon. If there is a lack of clarity on this, then further guidance can be issued. In many settings (schools for example, even here in the UK), there are detailed rules agreed with the Sikh community on Kirpans both on size and in some cases having them sewn into material so they simply could never be used.

We should all be quoting this post so it gets airtime.

Along with this quote from Henry's father:
“We want to use Henry’s heartbreaking story to make change for the better. We do not want his death to be used to create further division, hatred or tension. We want his story to help make our streets safer for everyone."

The rhetoric from folk like Farage, and some folk on here, is disgusting.

The police failed Henry, so so badly. It's heartbreaking. Even if he was racist, even if he was the aggressor - by refusing him medical help, they were opening the door to his defence getting him off. It's a gross dereliction of duty however you look at it, made all the worse by the fact he was completely innocent, and all officers involved deserve the harshest punishment.

Everything else is just fucking noise and point scoring over a beautiful dead boy.

Can we not? Can we not just behave like grown ups?

Cailleach1 · Yesterday 16:48

I don’t think we know if people can bring knives on planes under this religious exemption in the UK. It may be there is an exemption to the exemption. I’m not sure many people even knew about this religious exemption until now.

Nobody in my family has ever stabbed anyone either. Unlike VG. Would I good for an exemption too? I am curious if this convicted murder will still be able to carry his knives around under a religious exemption when he is released from prison. Are there any caveats at all?

Every group in society has decent people. Just like every group has rotten apples.

Goldenbear · Yesterday 16:48

It's really awful, so sad.

NameChangeMay2026 · Yesterday 16:49

So angry with the police over this. The guy is lying there dying of a stab would to the heart and the thick, hopeless PC Plods are trying to arrest him! It defies belief. I hope those officers lose their jobs and are never allowed to work as police again.

Here @sunglade. Another poster calling out your racist views.

It's actually quite racist of you to make the jump to that but even so...Do you think people following a certain religion should be able to carry offensive weapons in public? Because some currently are, foreign or not.

Also it's not actually a bad thing to be foreign, you can be from various countries and the fact still stands that some people are treated differently under law TODAY. Nevermind though, you keep on ushering in the far right by branding anyone who speaks up as racist, it's gonna be the straw that breaks the camel's back in this country and frankly I'm dreading it.

Women aren’t treated equally to foreign men.

They aren’t treated equally to any men.

But Sikhs aren’t foreign men. That poster, and this entire thread, is focussed around Sikhs carrying knives. Sikhs aren’t foreign men… so @Sunglade complaining about them as “foreign men” is racist. What about that don’t you understand?

This thread has zero do to with women’s equality. Zero.

Can you give us exact points we’re allowed to discuss, please?
Perhaps bullet points of your rules might be the swiftest way to ensure we all comply with your perception of what conversations can emerge.

Sikh women who are baptised wear a kirpan too (big on womens equality is sikhism if that helps) , I don’t think you know many sikhs or anything about sikhism tbh or sikhs as a collective group.

I completely understand why people want bladed kirpans to be banned but the idea that Sikhs as a group are some sort of threat to the people around them is ridiculous.

You are implying that all Sikhs are foreign. Everything else you’ve said is unrelated drivel.
You’re just trying to flood your post with word salad to cover up that you said something racist.

How many Sikh schoolboys have stabbed a classmate? I’ll wait while you get the number.

So? There are plenty of kids out there who haven’t stabbed somebody - it doesn’t mean they’re entitled to take a knife to school?

Allisnotlost1 · Yesterday 16:51

Call me racist you want, my job is literally working directly with refugees. It isn't racist to point out unequal treatment in law.

This thread has zero do to with women’s equality. Zero.

The point was which groups of people are deemed trustworthy enough to carry dangerous weapons and that it’s laughable to think women might be considered to be deserving.
You jumped on clumsy wording to try to shut down the point.

The knife digwa used wasn’t a kirpan and was already illegal and if had been found with it then it should have been removed and he should have been charged for carrying it. Most stabbings in the UK are with kitchen knives.

He would have had that knife whether he was a baptised sikh or not because he was a giant prick.

On the case you were posting about earlier.

I’ve mentioned and responded to others on several cases. I’m not sure why you’re being cryptic rather than clear about what you are referring to, but I’m starting to feel you’re posting in bad faith.

Of course not. Just scroll back, I’m just not repeating what I’ve already posted. It’s easy to follow if you read posts to you.

ETA ‘bad faith’ is nonsense. It’s called doing other stuff and asking you to just read.
