The Restore Britain March seems to have gone pretty well today from what I can glean online.

It could be a faulty algorithm, but the trouble the PM seemed to think would happen doesn’t seem to have materialised. I’ve seen clips from the march where a diverse mix of people have marched, not just football hooligan types.

Mr Monkey works in retail in central London. Yesterday was not a nice family day out, it was, as he put it "wall to wall cunts". It was not a fun day for working class Londoners (of any colour) just trying to do their jobs.

He is a football fan, and has been since the 80s and remembers football violence well. In his view these are pissed up football hooligans

The hatred is horrendous, my friend and I were in London yesterday and we were making our way through Charing Cross, she is of Sri Lankan descent and a doctor.

The thugs we walked past were emboldened enough to shout paki at her multiple times and spit on her - this was at 11am in the morning. Just lovely.

I can't understand why anyone thinks this is acceptable in this day and age.

That’s what these people think is a “family day out”. Op thinks that’s “no bother”.

I’m sorry your friend experienced this, Shame her career doesn’t allow her to only treat those worthy.

I’m sure there is a right-wing faction just as there is an extremist element within the pro-Palestine marches, but he is trying to paint a broad brush across all the people who attended.

It was organised by Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. He co-founded the EDL, and is widely accepted as being far right. I suspect that might be your answer as to why the march was considered a right wing march.

No no, all centralists, only concerned in mass immigration, the loss of English culture and values.

All the 'right have is hatred & division, its what they thrive on, driven by social media and algorithms that drive this.

Northernrunnerwife · 17/05/2026 07:43

Nice family day out? If you’re as thick as mince and more than a bit racist, possibly. However, I’m yet to meet anyone with more than two brain cells who’d be seen dead at one of these things.

Where did I say it was ‘no bother?’

I agreed there would be a right wing faction, but stated from the videos I’ve seen there were also a diverse collection of people celebrating their country.

There is a huge housing crisis, big waiting lists for medical treatment, difficulties getting a GP appointment. Shortage of school places for SEND children, helpfully exacerbated by the spiteful policy of imposing VAT on private schools, forcing many to close.
Thats before we even start on the out of control immigration issue

And who is responsible for these problems?

What will Reform or any of the other right wing parties do to solve these problems?

Yes it appears to have been a peaceful, family oriented day from what I can see on X.

Certainly not ‘far right thugs’ as Starmer talked about.

Yeah, just a bog standard, wholesome, family oriented far right march.

God help us 😆

So much contempt on this thread for human beings that are white and British and therefore a safe target. Nobody here would dare to speak so contemptuously of black groups of men or immigrant groups of men.
They safe position of feeling comfy bullying white people is contributing to the demise of the two party system.
safe liberal guilt - ridden doormatism is ending its reign in a sea of snobbish dismay that non naice people are finally objecting to be trodden on.

💯. agree.

It was a far right march. Organised by far right people.

When you say a "right wing faction", do you mean standard Tories ? As in, to the left of the organisers ?

Right wing faction, as in moderate right wingers ?

Northernrunnerwife · 17/05/2026 07:51

It’s funny how the facists love to complain about others but will be the first to complain when anyone calls them out! 😂

Wishing14 · 17/05/2026 07:52

@EvangelicalAboutButteredToastI am not sure they understand the meaning of facism…

Reform will do absolutely fuck all to improve the country. They’ve already lost one of their elected councillors for being a porn star on the quiet 🙈. I’m hoping that by getting into local councils their ineptitude will ensure they won’t get elected into government.

I wonder why the English in particular have been encouraged to feel ashamed of themselves? Certainly my Irish family don't. My DH is Italian and can't understand it. In Italy they boast about their culture and food. They don't dwell on past crimes.

Agreed!

unfortunately, that sort gravitate to MN 😞

Northernrunnerwife · 17/05/2026 07:56

I don’t know anyone who is ashamed of being British (or English, but most people I know what see them self as British, given that’s our nationality). I am ashamed to share a country with the idiots who march in support of far-right thugs like SYL but that’s not the same of being ashamed of my country or nationality.

Perfect28 · 17/05/2026 07:56

How do you think it feels for minorities to see a crowd of thousands of drunk white men waving England flags and crosses?

Bluepiano · 17/05/2026 07:59

Lemonfrost · 16/05/2026 21:19

I don't want you to help me, thank very much.

By the way, I'm not left wing, so that rather deflates your argument.

I agree! The fact that people think that those who don’t support reform are left wing just shows how far the Overton window has shifted to the right. It’s shocking

Bloozie · 17/05/2026 07:59

EmeraldRoulette · 16/05/2026 21:01

@Lonelycrab what do you mean "as bad as last time"?

Last time the police said there were approximately 100,000 in attendance

23 arrests
One of whom was a counterprotester

Apparently, pro Palestine protests average about 400 arrests at the moment

Notting Hill carnival was about 500 last time and that passed off peacefully, in official terms.

I know posters are getting Reform and Restore in a muddle and the protest has nothing to do with them anyway!

They’re arresting elderly people at pro-Palestine events, as they have proscribed them terrorist activity. Therefore the biggest demographic on our domestic terror watchlists right now are vegan yoga practitioners and retired librarians.

This thread explains why I’m ashamed to be British, you’ve posted about a “family day out” like the behaviour of these racists is acceptable or beneficial in any way!

its embarrassing!
