Have people seen the horrible news?

The boy jailed for having sex with a 17 yo girl in Dubai has been killed in a car crash whilst being pursued by police (he was a passenger).

To think if he'd probably still be alive today if he hadn't been granted the royal pardon. Sad

This is very sad. I could not understand why David Lammy did not help this lad, he will have had a terrible time in a Dubai jail.

His death was due to the actions of the driver, no one else. Only they now why they didnt stop.

Only the mother knows why she reported him. Maybe vindictive, maybe trying to protect her child... who knows.

And yes, very terrible for his family.

The mother was definitely vindictive, nobody should be giving her the benefit of the doubt. Protecting a 17yo from a consensual relationship. Dreadful and cowardly to wait until she left the country.

She’s not responsible for his death, but still awful.

Absentosaur · 04/10/2025 09:49

Absolutely. She should live with guilt for sending him to prison in the UAE for ever. A horrible nasty person.

And now this. His poor poor mum 😔

Sadly she’s probably just relieved she won’t have to worry about her daughter being involved with him ever again.

Horrible and sad story. His family must be rocked with all this grief and misfortune that has been played out so publically.

TheDeftSwan · 04/10/2025 16:03

Tragic final year of a very young life

Almostwelsh · 04/10/2025 16:34

The driver has been charged with driving without a licence or insurance, as well as causing death by dangerous driving. Ofc we don't know if Marcus was aware that the driver had no licence, but it suggests that tougher limits on new drivers, as suggested up thread wouldn't have helped here

I'm more interested in the motives of the mother of the girl he had sex with. If this Mail story is correct the girl was a month off being 18, and the sex was consensual, but the mother reported him to the Dubai police.

All very sad for his family.

See, I don't like comments I am seeing about the girl's mum having blood on her hands. The girl was under the legal age of consent in Dubai. His death was not the girls mother's fault, it was just a sad turn of fate.

Dmsandfloatydress · 04/10/2025 17:07

His poor poor mother. How utterly devastating for her and the rest of his family. I don't know how she will recover.

The car he was in didn’t stop and was being chased by police. They also crashed into another car who could have been driven by, and carrying, people completely uninvolved and innocent.

Both times the boy was caught out doing foolishness. His parents failed to protect him from his idiotic behaviour in Dubai and again back home by hanging out with people mostly likely known to police.

Such a waste. I hope other young people will take valuable lessons from this.

Skybluepinky · 04/10/2025 17:13

Sad but sounds like he was involved in other things to be involved in a police car chase.

Oh and I hope other parents also take the lessons there are to learn too…. Especially those of us raising black boys.

Both times the boy was caught out doing foolishness.

Doing foolishness??

First time, he had consensual sex with a girl one month away from her 18th birthday.

Second time, he was a passenger in a car - who knows why the driver didn't stop!

Stop it.

His parents and he knew full well that the girl was concealing the “situationship” from her parents. They would all have been aware of the dangers of the boy doing this shit with a girl of that particular ethnicity, especially being black.

Likwise, his parents and he would have known full well who he was hanging out with back home. The driver didn’t stop because the driver had something to hide. Are you really that naive?

Unless you understand the nuances involved, you wouldn’t understand.

She wasn't old enough to consent under the law of the country he was in.

Maybe not directly but being in a Dubai prison quite possibly led to decisions that got him in that car

Don't you agree that mentally he must have been hugely aftected by imprisonment?

Please. The parents would have and should have known. Just like they did in Dubai and did nothing to protect their son.

Do you understand the nuances involved here?

Prehaps you could explain the nuances so we all understand them

ThePoshUns · 04/10/2025 18:37

This is so sad. To think his last few years of his life were spent in prison for a spiteful report . Thoughts with his family and friends.

marshmallowmix · 04/10/2025 18:42

The mother was spiteful to do what she did as they were so close in age and seems off/odd to do what she did and the consequences for him.

According to other social media forums the girl was Indian.

The crash, wrong company as why not stop if police are chasing you…the driver survived.

Wrong place and bad decision, sad for him.

The boy is black and the girl is Asian - sex, whether consensual or not, carried cultural risks. Because of prejudice, family honor and strict expectations. His parents knew this, and did nothing to stop it. They failed to protect him.

Raising a young black man in London means knowing the risks at every turn and always being aware of who he’s with and where he’s going. You understand how dangerous a stop-and-search by the Met can be, and you’re not naive enough to believe that a failure to stop would ever end well. You teach your son this.

Sounds like a dilemma 😂

CharlieKirkRIP · 04/10/2025 18:46

’I think the motives were that the couple intended to continue their new relationship back in the UK and the girls mother didn't approve and wanted to put a stop to it.’

Really? I heard completely different and that he had pressured the girl into sleeping with him and she told her mother when they got home and the mother was told she couldn’t press for a rape charge but could report him for having sex with an underage girl!

He’s now died in a crash in a vehicle being chased by police in the early hours of the night!

I know which version I’m more inclined to believe and it isn’t yours!
