Have people seen the horrible news?

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15161103/Marcus-Fakana-dies-teenager-jailed-Dubai-sex-17-girl-killed-car-crash.html

The boy jailed for having sex with a 17 yo girl in Dubai has been killed in a car crash whilst being pursued by police (he was a passenger).

To think if he'd probably still be alive today if he hadn't been granted the royal pardon. Sad

Marcus Fakana: Boy jailed in Dubai for sex with teen killed in crash

Marcus Fakana, 19, died in a fatal collision in Tottenham, north London , at around 1am on Friday after a car he was passenger in failed to stop when being blue-lighted by the Metropolitan Police.

What a waste of a young life, and how awful for his family. Sad

SummerEve · 04/10/2025 08:43

What a sad story.

UpperBleph · 04/10/2025 08:44

His poor parents

BlueberryLatte · 04/10/2025 08:45

That is just horrible. His poor family

it’s really sad, a loss of life. But to say that he would have been better off in a Dubai prison doesn’t sit right with me.

There are a lot of questions still unanswered here - why was he in a car pursued by police and why were they running away? It doesn’t mean he was involved in anything unsavoury here, but it’s a very strange story indeed.

Well he would have been alive and due for release soon - so it's a bitter irony.

As for the manner of this young man's death - what needs to be answered right now? He was a passenger in a car and is now dead.

I'm more interested in the motives of the mother of the girl he had sex with. If this Mail story is correct the girl was a month off being 18, and the sex was consensual, but the mother reported him to the Dubai police.

All very sad for his family.

AhBiscuits · 04/10/2025 09:20

His poor, poor mother. She has been through hell.

London22 · 04/10/2025 09:39

I saw this earlier today and it's left me in shock. His poor mother, how heartbreaking.

BlueandPinkSwan · 04/10/2025 09:41

What was the issue with a police chase who was he with when the crash happened? Most people drive around and do not end up being chased by the police without good reason.
His poor family and the girls mother should be totally ashamed of herself, it's like manslaughter by default on her part.

I think the motives were that the couple intended to continue their new relationship back in the UK and the girls mother didn't approve and wanted to put a stop to it.

How very sad. His poor mother.

And she waited until she (and her daughter) were back in the UK before reporting, knowing full well only he would be arrested.
Strongly suspect a racial element to her actions.
Poor Marcus, I hope his family find peace.

Mysterian · 04/10/2025 09:49

He was a passenger. He didn't drive off.

His poor Mum.

RIP

Absolutely. She should live with guilt for sending him to prison in the UAE for ever. A horrible nasty person.

And now this. His poor poor mum 😔

Motnight · 04/10/2025 09:50

His poor family 😞

Summertoautumnovernight · 04/10/2025 09:52

His poor parents - life is just so incredibly cruel sometimes - I can’t imagine how I would cope with what they have been and are going through

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 04/10/2025 09:54

Dear Lord, life seems very unfair at times. How tragic.

flapjackfairy · 04/10/2025 09:56

well whatever you think of the girls mother she is in no way to blame for the lads death

He'd only be "better off" in the sense that he'd still be alive. It's more of a comment on the irony than thinking he should have been compelled to serve out his sentence.

I feel so sorry for his poor parents, who fought so hard to bring back him.

She should, but I doubt she WILL. If anything, recent events may even make her feel vindicated in her actions. Sad

Probably my overactive imagination
But I hope there wasn't anything untoward going on with the chase

Toddlerteaplease · 04/10/2025 10:07

@BlueandPinkSwanhow is the girls mother to blame for his death. I also wonder about her motives in reporting him. But this is a separate incident.

It's absolutely nothing to with her.

What it does do is bring up the questions around teens driving and taking pasengers with them.

The big question is why didn't they stop.
