Gordon - what's really going on?

So, the economy is buggering up (was always going to happen sooner or later). He fudged the early election decision, and the 10p tax band abolition.

But it seems there's something else that Westminster insiders are alluding to, but can't say outright. That he's losing it completely and hates the job.

Does anyone know what is really going on? Or would like to speculate wildly?

I think he's probably cheesed off about Doctor Who not being on this Saturday because of Eurovision. Must have really crowned his week, that.

LynetteScavo · 23/05/2008 09:37

I know what's really going on, but will let you all go ahead and speculate wildly.

DaDaDa · 23/05/2008 09:39

Oh, gwan-gwan-gwan-gwan-gwan!

there was an article in the times this week about getting what you want and it not being all it's cracked up to be aimed at him

SilentTerror · 23/05/2008 10:22

I think it is a case of 'be careful what you wish for'

sitdownpleasegeorge · 23/05/2008 10:28

Is Sarah pregnant again and he's not looking forward to disturbed sleep ?

DeeRiguer · 23/05/2008 10:32

silentterror
think that is true too

wildly speculates ... that he awakes one morn and realises he is not the man for the job...

Youcannotbeserious · 23/05/2008 10:33

Who cares?

He shouldn't be prime minister and he soon won't be (sooner rather than later, hopefully)

Let's just hope he doesn't stuff too much more up before he departs!

snowleopard · 23/05/2008 10:36

I certainly thought he would be so much better than he is. He was a great chancellor who always held his nerve and did the right thing. For to have gone so tits up there must be something seriously amiss. I alternate between being frustrated/annoyed and wondering if I should just feel sorry for him.

I was pondering it the other day and realised I can't really think of any PM/state leader who's cracked under the strain and had to withdraw. Which is odd because it must be a huge strain and people crack up under much less.

sitdownpleasegeorge · 23/05/2008 10:44

Personality wise he's always seemed a little odd to me.

Perhaps he could consider doing an Estelle Morris ?

Maybe he takes everything so seriously that its just not good for his health, he's probably longing for the summer recess to arrive to take the pressure off a bit.

I'd hate to see him carted off for the sake of his health.

beansprout · 23/05/2008 11:19

I read that he often does 20 hour days. He is still a control freak and unable to delegate which you really can't do if you are PM.

DeeRiguer · 23/05/2008 11:23

he would have done better to have election within labour party (challenge he wasnt challenged was he? ) cant remembr seems long ago now
or a general election
he is victims of events ! some his own making imho
he's not been elected personally and his probation aint going well
surprised to see how unpopular

why would you say he has cracked under strain? 10p tax thing? was that the tipping point do you think for people?
had my deep doubts long before sadly

fymandbean · 23/05/2008 11:27

Don't think he's cracking - just not the right man for the job.... he had a lot to live up to following Blair and is suffering as he's just not good enough (bit like John Major after Thatcher)

I also think you've hit the nail on the head with the "be careful what you wish for" comment...

mogwai · 23/05/2008 19:48

It's something about him being gay.

Am reliably informed.

beansprout · 23/05/2008 19:49

??!!!

TsarChasm · 23/05/2008 19:54

Gay Gordon?! No!!

FairyMum · 23/05/2008 19:56

I would not be suprised if he is cracking. I don't think GB makes a very good PM either, but I think the papers have been absolutely vile to him. The British press....well there really is nothing like it. He has been PM for 2 minutes and he is blamed for absolutely everything.

ahundredtimes · 23/05/2008 19:57

Why do we think something IS really going on?

Everyone is gunning for him aren't they?

Is there a secret? We MUST be told.

He needs a good spinner/control freak/Alistair Campbell for starters.

ivykaty44 · 23/05/2008 20:01

He has a bad case of fur balls

Bet Tony Blair is enjoying all this.

TwoIfBySea · 23/05/2008 21:35

Gordon isn't gay, he's too ugly! And badly dressed.

Bet he now wishes he hadn't sold the gold reserves or spent all the pension funds.

beansprout · 23/05/2008 21:36

Why? So he could go and get a decent suit?

Bubble99 · 23/05/2008 21:37

I've heard he hums show-tunes.

fymandbean · 24/05/2008 13:32

no he's not gay, well I don't think so....not stylish enough!

This is all about his poor economic policies imploding on him....he's got to go!
