I’ve never been in one but from what I understand it’s a restaurant where the waitresses are all attractive young women? Can’t say I’d be wild about the idea of DH going to one but honestly I’m a bit meh about it. Hardly a strip club.

I knew what what the link contained, I read the article and said very clearly in my OP my understanding was it’s a restaurant which exclusively hires attractive young women, as confirmed by @Adamante.

But apparently that was disingenuous of me. 🤔

Also didn’t know twatty was offensive but on mumsnet apparently it is. Don’t think we need to be policed like children personally but apparently there are sensitive little ears on here that need protecting.

I don’t see how this is any different to Taylor Swift or Sabrina Carpenter wearing skimpy clothing on stage. And also agree with @bombastix about it being a self selecting crowd. Not something I can get excited about.

The Nottingham one was well known for pervs to stand outside at closing to expose themselves when staff left, it also wasn’t unusual for customers to wank off in the toilets and ask staff members for the ‘extras menu’. When I lived in Nottingham for a significant amount of time staff had to ge placed in taxis at closing as it was too dangerous due to the number of pervs hanging around.

I like Hooters in the US. It is brightly lit, loads of different sports on the screens, the staff are friendly and the food is nice. I took my colleague and he couldn't believe the difference compared to the one in Nottingham - in the UK the men are all creeps apparently.

Is the bright lighting to ensure that you can see the chicken wings after the self abuse that the patrons suffer from?

You’re not wrong, and the women are all perfectly decently dressed, they wear American tan “tights” with the thickness of leggings. They literally only have bare arms, if they want to, they can wear T-shirts and long sleeves. Because of where I used to work I knew a lot of the young women who worked at the Nottingham branch. There were many of them using their wages and often very generous tips to put themselves through uni or support a child/children/family, and even if they weren’t, so what? Let young women do what they want, it’s all pretty harmless tbh. If you don’t like the theming, don’t go 🤷🏼‍♀️

To be fair, the Nottingham one is ridiculous locationwise. It’s on a corner of a major road where no one would ever walk. Busy, but only cars passing at speed.

Can you elaborate on the good beer part? Because looking at the drinks menu, it's the most basic bastard selection of beers I've seen on any generic, chain bar menu. It's not exactly tough to find a pint of moretti, Coors or blue moon in the toon. What makes theirs "good"?

I have seen an internet meme more than once where a Hooters waitress is mocked for her lack of arse. Straight Men ARE 100% going to ogle the women.
SNL did a skit on this - they had Sydney Sweeney as a Hooters girl getting loads of tips because she has big boobs and bum like male Hooters customers want.

There’s 101 restaurants in the UK that serve great chicken wings and have a TV with a sports match playing.

Literally a few minutes walk from the soon to be Newcastle Hooters is Hen and Hops, serving a massive range of chicken wings and a decent range of beers

When I first saw this I was worried it was an opportunity for lecherous men to take pleasure in busty 18 year old girls in tight clothes making doe eyes at them for a couple of quid tips. In a world of Andrew Tate I was worried that this would only further encourage viewing young women as sex objects for male gratification.

It's not the youngsters that go there. It's stag parties or football fans who go there pre-match (at least in Nottingham).
