As someone who had worked in bars and restaurants in Newcastle city centre (I'm sure it's the same everywhere though) I'd never step foot in a hooters.
I was sexually harassed enough wearing a short black skirt, black tights and a tight fitting black shirt. Some customers seemed to think that by wearing a short skirt they were welcome to shove their hands up there or grab my arse.
Plus, the pressure of trying to look 'fit' in order to earn tips. Loads of young women I worked with took speed to stay slim and bubbly for their shifts, or had eating disorders. Even managers or supervisors would comment on what you ate if you started putting some weight on, or suggest you wear a bit more makeup. We had self tanning kits in the staff room.
Maybe I'm being unfair based on my own experience and preconceived ideas about Hooters, but I really dont like the idea of it opening here. I worry that the men will see this as more of an invitation to be gropey, creepy bastards and the management will be nearly as bad...
