What would your sentence be for these three?
Sentencing tomorrow.

OP posts:
CustardySergeant · 17/12/2024 12:37

Judge said a whole life order would not be appropriate? WTF?

billionsofpresents · 17/12/2024 12:40

Why are people replying with options like ‘death sentence’ and torture and things? Do you think it makes you look good, that you are a ‘better’ person somehow because you are angrier and more self righteous and indignant than those who are against these things?

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/12/2024 12:41

No - people are very angry that nothing was done to stop these monsters

Birdscratch · 17/12/2024 12:42

The judge can’t just give them the sentence he thinks they deserve. He has to work within the sentencing guidelines.

Personally, I’d want whole life sentences.

TokyoSushi · 17/12/2024 12:42

I wonder if even if it doesn't fall within the parameters of a whole life term (what exactly do you need to do?!) the sentence can be 'upgraded' to a whole life term? Surely nobody would agree that would be overly harsh?

VWT5 · 17/12/2024 12:42

In this case I would want the option for us to pay and outsource to a country of our choosing - for a full life term - but where the regime would have them live each day in absolute terror - until a sudden quick demise…

And reintroducing torture is going to help with that how precisely?

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/12/2024 12:44

I didn't say torture them. I have never believed in the death penalty.

Katiesaidthat · 17/12/2024 12:44

Life sentences that mean life.

Not at all. I think the DP should be reserved for the lost heinous of crimes. This being one of be n in favour of it for.

ABunchOfBadBitches · 17/12/2024 12:45

For those watching the sentencing, will you get to see their reaction when receiving the sentence? Or do the cameras focus solely on the judge the whole time?

No, it's solely on the judge, you never see them, the stream finishes very quickly once the sentence is passed.

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/12/2024 12:46

It's totally focused on the judge, but sky (online) are saying dad is crying.

billionsofpresents · 17/12/2024 12:46

It’s disturbing and distasteful how many are enjoying this. I know they will claim they aren’t, how outrageous, how dare you, poor little girl. It’s all nonsense. All this thread is is a replacement of public hanging.

Almostwelsh · 17/12/2024 12:47

I think whole life terms are reserved for serial killers, but both the father and stepmother will get life.

Viviennemary · 17/12/2024 12:48

Death penalty. Nothing else is appropriate for these two.

Really? I’ve never watched a live sentencing but I’m surprised that they don’t show their reaction. I thought they would for some reason. Thanks for responding.

Anyway OP, I hope they get as long as possible. None of this, ‘20 years but really 15 years with good behaviour’ bullshit

Reductions for good behaviour don't apply to life sentences. So the minimum term will be just that, and even then they may not get parole. So the dad could well get de facto a whole life tariff.

ProvincialLady24 · 17/12/2024 12:55

Being bitten and burnt every day for the rest of their lives.

They definitely won't get 20 years. Given that they have been convicted of murder, they must be given life sentences. The only question for the judge is the minimum term they must serve in prison. Given the nature of the offences, the starting point, as the judge has said, is 30 years. I suspect the aggravating factors will mean that both get significantly more than that.

Oh, suddenly he’s got human emotions eh? I’m so glad not to have been on that jury.

Westfacing · 17/12/2024 12:58

I haven't followed the case in great detail - just couldn't face the grimness of it all but if I recollect they co-operated/agreed to return from Pakistan without too much of a fight. Nothing redeeming about that though as the cowards knew for certain that they would be hanged there for this crime.

The persistent terrible treatment of this young child deserves a whole life tariff as a punishment, and as a deterrent for future cruel fuckers.

I expect they'll get 30 years.

Birdscratch · 17/12/2024 12:59

I don’t think I’m a nicer person for not wanting the death penalty. I do object to the death penalty on principle but I also think that death would allow them to escape punishment. Knowing that they’ll never leave prison alive is the death of hope. I want them to live with that.

Quite. The answer to people who do sick and twisted things cannot be to do even more sick and twisted things.

Riapia · 17/12/2024 13:00

Whole life sentence. A picture of that poor little girl projected onto all walls of their cell.
