Why has she been on the show for so long?

PonyPlaiter · 01/10/2024 20:13

Brendan and James had to go when they got too old and unattractive. Let’s not pretend it was anything else.

I’m not pretending anything. Neither were too old or unattractive - both had ‘bad boy’ reputations on the show, got too big for their boots and were not asked back.

JenniferBooth · 01/10/2024 19:17

Yeah i have a feeling if he wasnt conventionally attractive there wouldnt be half as many women sticking up for him. Thinking with their clits!

Dear god. I don’t even know where to start with that crude comment.

FWIW I have no strong feelings about either, I liked Amanda in shows like Sherlock and thought she was very good on strictly for the time she was in it.

My responses are based on fact - Amanda made complaints about Giovanni being abusive. The BBC undertook a lengthy, and presumably in depth, investigation. NONE of her complaints alleging abusive and threatening behaviour were upheld.

if we are not to trust in the outcome of an investigation then what exactly is the purpose? Are we to simply believe all allegations? How would you feel if you were accused of abusive behaviour and, when cleared, had people continue to maintain your guilt?

I have no idea what went on on that training room. The people undertaking the investigation viewed hours of footage and spoke to everyone involved. And they have come to a conclusion based on this.

So if an organisation wronged you you would be happy with said organisation investigating themselves.

And come the fuck on If someone who looked the same as Roy Chubby Brown was accused of the same or similar people would have no trouble believing it

It’s standard. She was at work, she made a complaint about a colleague and the complaint was investigated by the company.

Ive worked in the public sector for years. If a complaint is made by a client about a member of staff it is investigated internally. Who else do you think is going to investigate? There are processes in place at every stage of the complaints process to go further if the complainant is unhappy with the outcome. …until inevitably yiu come to the ned of the line. I have no reason to believe the BBC is any different and I imagine that if Amanda was unhappy with the outcome at any stage she will have taken it to the end of the line.

the BBC were not investigating ‘themselves’ they were investigating complaints made about one of their employees.

I’m not sure why you are so hung up on his looks. I would have no trouble believing that somebody was abusive IF the evidence showed it to be true.

I worked for years with both perpetrators and victims of abuse and I can tell you with 100% certainty that looks have absolutely nothing to do with either.

The fact remains that an investigation has been completed which clears him of abusive behaviour.

I agree that looks have nothing to do with either but people do let that and celebrity culture cloud their judgement.

His looks have nothing to do with his behaviour but the hordes of middle aged women who have been all over social media calling AA all sorts don’t see it that way.

Oh gosh yeah the bbc have fully investigated themselves and found no wrong doing so we should definitely take that as gospel. The bbc have never covered up anything before have they? Never protected someone accused of abuse, or turned a blind eye.

They didn't find "no wrong doing".

Houseplanter · 02/10/2024 07:36

I wonder if in order to be seen as having done a fair job they upheld less serious ones, such as swearing.

They couldn't really have done right for doing wrong could they..

On the surface, he seems like he's a hard taskmaster and she was simply too senstive to cope with it. They should never have been paired together.

This ongoing investigation has done neither of them any favours and the honest truth is that no one still knows what happened.

This sums it up for me.

Why do you think they would protect somebody who is just a contracted dancer? Strictly does not rely on any of the dancers - a fact proven by the number of changes over the years.

there was another dancer, Graziano, who was sacked after being accused of abusive behaviour. Why was he sacked and not Giovanni?

The facts remain. An investigation was completed and he was found not to have been abusive or threatening.

I find it very odd that so many people are taking such a strong stance, on either side, in light of the outcome being published. So many experts who are certain of the guilt/innocence of one or other party - based on what? Their gender? Their appearance?

I was being sarcastic about those who think that because the BBC said "nothing to see here" that it doesn't actually mean nothing to see here.

The reason i believe her is:

She's a woman so she doesn't hold the power here
She's an older woman so has even less power than a younger woman
She's the non professional in the partnership - as above, dancing is very intimate and the nature of ballroom dancing places all the power in the man's hands - i believe as @PonyPlaiter said, there are non verbal ways to bully someone.
She's spoken up for herself when she wouldn't have risked her career like that if it wasnt true
The media have decided she's guilty of trying to wreck his career based on the nothing more than the fact that she's a woman and that she made a complaint - i trust the word of this woman more than i trust the media
I wouldn't trust the bbc as far as i could throw them to investigate allegations of abuse. I trust the word of this woman more than i trust the bbc.

You trust the bbc - good for you. I don't.

Its the hypocrisy that gets to me. Because you know the Strictly fans making excuses dont like it when the police investigate themselves!

Seems this one is going to run given her interview last night which I haven't seen but what I am finding odd is how the press are covering it.

Facebook ad "Giovanni pressed his erection against me" (The Mirror / The Sun) click to article and no mention of this so I don't know if she actually said that in the interview or if they are click baiting but not putting the defamatory items in print for legal reasons?

cavalier · 06/10/2024 18:12

This from Amanda and she has a point and also why does he not sue her if it’s not true ?👇
Quote from Amanda …. 👇
“It’s out there. There is evidence out there of what happened in that room and I’m not the one who’s blocking it. I’ve said anyone can watch it, but he [Giovanni] doesn’t want anyone to see it, which is quite telling if he’s got nothing to hide.”

One would presume the investigation team viewed it

She comes across as odd in that Newsnight interview. Is anyone else backing her as she heavily refers to others saying the same.
