Hi,

I know there has been lots of chat around this and I have to avoid the news because it sends my anxiety over the edge, does anyone have a overwhelming feat that nuclear war is about to kick off 🫣

OP posts:
Justcallmebebes · 29/09/2024 09:24

No, i dont fear nuclear war. And I am a news junkie

Horsesontheloose · 29/09/2024 09:28

It is very unsettled at the moment certainly. However, there is always war and fighting since time began. Stay away from the news for a while and certainly don't watch the news late at night.

ThisTimeNextWeekDavid · 29/09/2024 09:30

No. And if it does, we’ll all be dead so it won’t matter.

LittleGreenDragons · 29/09/2024 09:30

No. There is absolutely nothing I can do to change what will happen so I ignore it. There is no point worrying about it as all it will do is make me ill and unable to function.

usernother · 29/09/2024 09:31

No. The world has been in loads of situations like this many times so it doesn't worry me.

Igotjelly · 29/09/2024 09:48

In terms of an epoch defining conflict I think Ukraine-Russia is absolutely that (Timothy Snyder recently did an interesting piece of analysis on that question). The Middle East has the potential too to be pretty nasty but no not worried about nuclear war.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 29/09/2024 09:49

No l never think about it.

This is the way I look at it too😅

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/09/2024 09:53

Nope. War and death is an integral part of human existence, just as disease is - worrying about it isn't going to change a single thing, other than make you unhappy and scared.

FaiIureToLunch · 29/09/2024 09:55

World war 3 will be cyber and we’ll starve to death in our beds because technology will be targeted. IMO! 🤣

Miley1967 · 29/09/2024 09:55

I do keep thinking about being unhappy in my job and that if life is going to turn very bad shortly I should just jack it in and ditch the diet ! Was just having this conversation with dh yesterday !

There's no point in worrying. I know it's easier said than done but there really isn't.

Either it will never happen, on which case life carries on as normal.

Or it happens and we all die quickly.

Instead of worrying send time telling the people who mean a lot to you how much they mean and spend time with people who make you happy.

tryingagaintoday · 29/09/2024 10:00

No. I think the Russia/ukraine conflict has shown that nuclear weapons don’t stop conventional warfare after all. Conventional warfare will just carry on.

Gettingbysomehow · 29/09/2024 10:07

I don't worry about anything before it actually happens. Life is too short.

I understand you OP xx

thewitchesyouwerenotabletoburn · 29/09/2024 10:13

It’s a worrying time, certainly. I wouldn’t say I was terrified, but definitely concerned.

Emmanuelll · 29/09/2024 10:15

No, the 80s were more dangerous imo. Putin makes threats all the time.

If you watch the news all the time though it will make you anxious because there is a lot of unrest the world over.

cantlosebabyweight · 29/09/2024 10:20

I just don't watch the news anymore. Since the gp reduced my antidepressants dose, I just can't.

MeMyCatsAndI · 29/09/2024 10:21

Nope, because if it's nuclear we won't even know we'll just die instantly.
A bit bleak but it's true.

Comedycook · 29/09/2024 10:23

No. I don't worry about it at all.

zeitweilig · 29/09/2024 10:25

Worrying won't change it.

Hopefully, though some folk might die a more long and drawn out death depending on where the hit site is and how powerful it is. Worrying won't change it though.....

MissSkegness1951 · 29/09/2024 10:26

No. It won't happen.

MrsArcher23 · 29/09/2024 10:27

As a teenager in the 1980s, I worried all the time about nuclear war. I'm not spending my fifties doing the same , despite my news junkie status. What will be, will be. I won't be digging a bunker to survive the first wave.

unsync · 29/09/2024 10:28

No, there's no point as it makes not one iota of difference.

Anyway, if you think it's coming, you should be living life to the max, not cowering in fear.
