Absolutely shocking. A 26 year old man named as Kyle Clifford, believed to be armed with a crossbow, is being sought by police.
The dead women are aged 61, 28 and 25.

It's horrendous. In first reports it wasn't clear what the circumstances were but from latest reports it seems very likely the man is the recently ex boyfriend of one of the daughters.

This happens far too frequently. That poor father losing his whole family like this.

Small comfort, there is another daughter

That poor family Flowers

ChunkyChips76 · 10/07/2024 15:42

I just cannot even imagine. Poor John, poor Carol, Hannah and Louise. Absolutely heartbreaking

His neighbours had met him, they said he seemed a nice normal bloke. So I don't think that meeting someone is enough to state that they wouldn't commit an offence.

A lot of men seem normal until.someone says or does something they don't like.

It's just like the old 'he was quiet and kept himself to himself '

RJnomore1 · 10/07/2024 15:37

Not all men ARE like that. However far too bloody many are. And it needs addressed.

But could we perhaps stop to think about the person who happens to be a man, but has done no wrong, who came home to find his entire family obliterated LAST NIGHT and who is another, different, victim of male violence too? I don’t think it’s at all necessary to shout people out for pointing that out and to claim you care about the three women who were killed at the same time. It’s possible to understand a woman is a person in their own right and also part of a family, a network and a community who also are impacted by male violence you know.

I agree that there are multiple victims here but every news report has had a male focus when it comes to this case. Carol, Hannah and Louise have been reduced to a wife and daughters of a man. He wasn't a household name for most people, there is no reason to not let them be the focus of this case. He may be a victim too but he hasn't been murdered like Carol, Louise and Hannah were. It's a part of a much wider problem of making women seem invisible and unimportant.

No. Murder is murder, whether committed by an individual or sanctioned by the state. I want justice for Carol, Hannah and Louise, not revenge.

How exactly is this murderer being sent to prison for say 20 years and being let out after 10 justice?
He will still be a young man and those young women have lost their whole life’s.

HoldingTheDoor · 10/07/2024 15:45

His neighbours had met him, they said he seemed a nice normal bloke. So I don't think that meeting someone is enough to state that they wouldn't commit an offence.

Or even being a family member. We recently had a family member of the paramedic who murdered his 22 year old partner claim that her Brother was a sweet guy who wouldn’t hurt a fly. So I don’t put much faith in the opinions of family, friends and neighbours yet it’s amazing how many claim that there were such nice guys when clearly they were about as far from nice as it gets. If murdering a woman isn’t enough to warrant you no longer being called a nice guy I don’t know what does.

@FatmanandKnobbin it isn't my main concern, don't speak for me. My main concern is the poor man who has lost his loved ones and their friends and family. And of course the victims, that goes without saying. But I'm not angry towards all men. I'm angry at him.

Every three days, a woman is killed by a man in the UK and one in four women experience domestic violence.

It's an epidemic.
Anyone who recognises this doesn't feel the need to say NAMALT.
Not saying NAMALT does not implicate the good men, the men that on our side. In fact, those men won't say NAMALT either because they know that doing so distracts from the real issue of addressing the epidemic.

Theremedy · 10/07/2024 15:46

BBC are reporting he was in the Army and left in 2022.

I initially thought he would disappear and kill himself. But I suspect he fancies his “survival” chances, wouldn’t be surprised if he’s prepared to try and go down fighting. Reminds me of Raul Moat.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/07/2024 15:47

A quote from an article that I’ve just read has really stood out me. I may be paraphrasing her as I can’t remember word for word.
”We have been advised by the Police that there is no threat to anyones safety so the advice is to carry on as normal.”

There’s a lunatic on loose with damn cross bow of course there’s a potential risk to peoples safety. Has this Kyle Clifford turned to a Saint who would harm a fly all of a sudden. 😡

Prawncow · 10/07/2024 15:49

ExpectoPatronums · 10/07/2024 15:18

I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority.

You’ve met rapists, you’ve met paedophiles, you’ve met men who beat their wives. You may well have met men who will go on to murder. These people don’t walk around with warning signs flashing over their heads. You wouldn’t pick them out of a crowd. They’re your neighbour, your co-worker, the teacher at your child’s school, the GP you’re trying to get an appointment to see.

CreationNat1on · 10/07/2024 15:49

The daughter that wasn't there, is equally as deserving of recognition and sympathy as the remaining male family member. Yes, the reporting style really puts the emphasis in the husband/father and all the females are just pawns in a male world.

AzureAnt · 10/07/2024 15:50

Fairyliz · 10/07/2024 15:23

So do we believe in capital punishment? This man deliberately went to kill his ex girlfriend and killed two other family members presumably just because they were there.
All those people who bleat on about possible miscarriages of justice isn’t this a clear cut case where the death penalty is required?

Totally agree
The bastard should hang

No. They mean he isn't likely to kill immediately again as he deliberately murdered the poor woman who decided she didn't want to be in a relationship with him anymore, along with her mother and sister. He isn't killing at random. I

Thank you for the respectful response. My point wasn’t so much about the media slant as the posters on here being nothing other than vicious about other posters saying this is perhaps not an appropriate place for some of the comments about men as a generalisation. There are some truly horrible bitchy vitriol laden comments TO OTHER WOMEN remember.

I don't believe that's why. They're reporting it like that because he's the minor celebrity. Would be the same if he was female.

Anyway, it's really not the point is it.

A husband and daughter/sister have lost most of their family because of a jealous prick.

dottiehens · 10/07/2024 15:52

Clearly someone with mental health issues. Things would become clearer later but what a horror!

God I was thinking that too

I take that point, but I’m still not comfortable with some one waltzing round with a cross bow.

The man they are looking for is allegedly the brother of Bradley Clifford who was convicted of murder in 2018

It's a bit Pollyannaish to assume only someone who was mentally ill can commit atrocities. People can be completely sane and choose to murder someone.

bramblesbig · 10/07/2024 15:53

Can you imagine how scared they must have been. So so awful.
And for the father finding them all dead or dying. How do you ever recover from something like that?

I doubt it. Just a murderous bastard who didn't like being rejected, I imagine. A surfeit of ego.

Doesn't mean he won't claim it if he is caught alive.

Are you serious? You sound like an apologist for male violence
