Absolutely shocking. A 26 year old man named as Kyle Clifford, believed to be armed with a crossbow, is being sought by police.
The dead women are aged 61, 28 and 25.

Our Dad was served by Michael Ryan a few times at a shop in Marlborough where Ryan worked.

Dad said he seemed to be an ordinary lad- no one knows what is going on in people's heads...Dad certainly wouldn't have put Ryan down as a random spree killer/mass murderer.

Obviously not all men are like this, any more than all female nurses are like Lucy Letby.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 10/07/2024 15:17

I hope he’s caught very soon, but there’s no punishment sufficient for such horror.
Its terrifying and bewildering how some men behave.

CharlotteRumpling · 10/07/2024 15:18

This is not a good comparison, given the stats for male violence, as compared to female. .

LaLaLouella · 10/07/2024 14:28

Oh those poor women, what a waste of 3 beautiful lives.

And, what a surprise, the suspect is the ex boyfriend of one of the victims. When is something going to be done to protect women and girls against this overwhelming amount of misogynistic violence perpetrated by inadequate men?

Yep, it's not all men, but it's a staggering proportion of them....

I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority.

Erm it’s around 160 men a year vs two female nurses in 50 years, hardly a comparable statistic 🤯.

ruffler45 · 10/07/2024 15:19

I am sure the police marksmen will be on form when they find him.

You cannot possibly know that. I’m willing to bet there are plenty of currently “innocent” men who have the potential to commit such acts of violence if the circumstances line up the wrong way.

OrlandointheWilderness · 10/07/2024 15:20

You know what - I'm with @needtonamechangeforthis1 on this one. I'm not going to voice an opinion on this any which way because this thread is being absolutely taken over. I understand why, but the vast majority of posters here, both NAMALT and the opposing, are just using this to voice their view. It's unacceptable. I don't give a damn what view point you have on male on female violence, this isn't the place for it. This is a place to recognise three people have been horrifically killed leaving behind distraught families, not to use this for your own agenda - ANY of you. You want to (rightly) discuss man on female violence I suggest another thread is created that centers that, not uses a murder.
It's sickening. Stepping away now.

Boltonb · 10/07/2024 15:21

For all of the NAMALT posters.

Even if you feel confident that your DF/DP/DH/DS isn’t a violent murderous bastard.

Its fucking exhausting and infuriating that yet again, women have been murdered because a man can’t deal with something, or control his fucking actions.

It’s fucking infuriating that we all knew what the story would be when we heard that 3 women had been killed.

Not all men. But always fucking men. ALWAYS.

I hope these three women rest in peace, and thoughts are with them and their family. Just utterly heartbreaking. Again.

Hear hear! Although I doubt it will have an effect.

1 in 3 women globally experience violence, including sexual violence, at the hands of a man - obviously it's not your Nigel, but that's an awful lot of men.

But there are thousands of men who aren't violent or abusive.
Let's get some perspective here.

Brefugee · 10/07/2024 15:22

I don't think the instant angry bickering about people saying the 'wrong thing' is helpful.

I don't think a thread about yet another man killing an ex and some innocent bystanders should be plagued by the Handmaidens of NAMALT.

I very much doubt it's true that you've never met one who could do this.

And as I've got older, I've spotted more and more of the signs in the relationships of the women around me. Thank god, in most cases, nothing happens or at least, nothing as serious as this. But it's there. And I'd be completely shocked if you don't know at least a couple of women who are, consciously or unconsciously, regularly and consistently appeasing a man out of a fear of him getting violent.

There is a reason that so many of these terrible things happen around the time the women finally leaves, or tries to leave. Until then, the violence is at least partially kept under control by the man's overall control of the woman. As he loses that control.... things deteriorate. in some cases, very very badly.

Please don't tell people what views they can and cannot express. The OP simply stated the facts of what happened. We are all free to post our views on the thread.

I mean, in this sort of situation you could dig your heels in and continue to be a male apologist on a thread about yet another murder of women by a man, or you could choose to respect the huge outpouring of anger and sadness many women here feel that this keeps happening to women and girls over and over again at the hands of men.

I know how I’d respond, but you do you.

SnakesandKnives · 10/07/2024 15:23

those poor poor women :(. Fucking scumbag. Whilst i know he Should he should get punishment through the law personally I hope he kills himself or is killed. Prison isn’t enough of a punishment for me so might as well remove him completely.

why hasn’t a photo been released seeing as they’re happy to give his name? Or is he one of the few people in existence with no pics online or anything? Given I live quite close to Bushey and ride on my own I’d really like to know what he looks like

Fairyliz · 10/07/2024 15:23

So do we believe in capital punishment? This man deliberately went to kill his ex girlfriend and killed two other family members presumably just because they were there.
All those people who bleat on about possible miscarriages of justice isn’t this a clear cut case where the death penalty is required?

Up until the point at which I posted the first time, there were 4 comments expressing sympathy for John Hunt. 5 expressing general shock and outrage. 4 expressing sympathy for the women AND John/the family... and just 1 expressing sympathy for these women as the victims. I guess, arguably, expressing sympathy for both the women and the family is totally reasonable, but 4 posts that didn't even mention how awful this was for the women involved but actively commented on how awful it was for the survivor....

The survivor is the one currently suffering, so

Carol, Hannah and Louise.

My heart breaks 💔

Womens lives needlessly cut short just because they were women.

how do you know? they don't have it tattoed on their foreheads.

Something the NAMALT brigade conveniently forget.

"I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority."

Really? And how do you know that then? You know the background, temper and criminal history of every man you've ever met?

And 2 women a week in this country are murdered by men, that's a lot of men! How many have to be murdering bastards before we think it's not a very, very small minority?

Fluffyelephant · 10/07/2024 15:24

Roseyjane · 10/07/2024 14:27

Well they aren’t, do you know men who do this, I certainly don’t. Yes men kill as do women. Shit people are shit people. Irrelevant of gender. When we saw the recent case of women killing babies, little star to name one, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman charged with sexually abusing her pupils, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman abusing her partner and being sent to jail. Did we say fucking hell. Women are awful

no. Some men are awful as are some women.

You will know men who are capable of this, you just don't know it.

I had an ex-partner who hurt me and threatened all sorts of horrific violence if I were to leave and when I finally did. Luckily he didn't act it out but I sadly expect someday to read a news story just like this with him as the suspect.

He had so many friends - including female friends - who would say 'I bet you're such a wonderful partner' and none of the people he works with will have any idea of what he's capable of.

Particularly when the man is young - in his teens or 20s - as the man who killed these 3 women is. People find it hard to imagine that domestic abuse can really be that bad when it involves couples that young. But it is very often men of this age who are abusive and kill their partners.

In contrast the number of women who kill partners or ex partners, or anyone tbh, is so unbelievably small it's basically unheard of. You are listing the very few female exceptions in a sea of male violent offenders.

HungryLittleCrocodile · 10/07/2024 15:25

SoundTheSirens · 10/07/2024 14:32

Can we just stop with the fucking NAMALT on yet another day when multiple women have died needlessly at the hands of a man?

This. The NAMALT brigade don't even deserve a response. They are tedious.

R.I.P. to these 3 women. Awful news! Sad times we live in. As pps have said, one of the women very likely rejected him. This has Raoul Moat vibes. Awful!

exBIL was not violent overall. But the times he came closest, the times he threatened her with violence or used what I'd refer to as violence-adjacent behaviours were whenever she tried to put a boundary in place. That's when he broke down her bedroom door. When he poked at her. When he locked her in a room. When he told DH that she was lucky he (exBIL) hadn't knocked her head off.....

These women have been brutally murdered, and we can assume, tortured, by a man who intrinsically thought that his wants, needs and desires were more important than anyone else's. THAT is horrific.
