Absolutely shocking. A 26 year old man named as Kyle Clifford, believed to be armed with a crossbow, is being sought by police.
The dead women are aged 61, 28 and 25.

I don’t post very often but I am truly sickened by some of the posts on here, This is a truly dreadful event but no good comes from class blame. By far the overwhelming majority of men are decent caring and considerate people. The only way we can ever root out those who are not is to accept this truth.

You are part of the problem.

LarkspurLane · 10/07/2024 21:07

Astrabees · 10/07/2024 21:04

I quite agree that there is a problem with male violence against women but it is simply wrong to blame the male sex in general. Imagine stereotyping on a racial basis. All this leaves me feeling quite sorry for the huge majority of perfectly lovely men.

It's a shame you didn't manage to express any sympathy for the women who have died in this attack.
But no, the poor men.

YellowAsteroid · 10/07/2024 21:07

MaidOfAle · 10/07/2024 21:02

All men, even the decent ones, benefit from male violence against women. Mechanism explained here.

Exactly, @MaidOfAle

I think what we're seeing here is a perfect illustration of Germaine Greer's observation that women can't afford to realise how much men hate them.

I can't dissociate this pointless murder of three women, Carol, Louise, and Hannah, from the spectre of male violence. Because that is what killed them.

It's just about always a man. How stupid are you?

This I'm afraid.

Once a person has deliberately inflicted death and suffering on this scale, they have forfeited their right to any sort of life of their own. He needs to be put away where he can never harm anyone again, and the rest of us can forget about him.

He will be put away for life yes after exercising his right not to appear for sentencing no doubt. When he's unwell he will get prompt NHS treatment. He will have access to therapy and counselling in an attempt to rehabilitate him. He will get three meals day and clothing and have a bed to sleep on whilst some children will continue to go to school hungry and go to bed in a cold, damp, mouldy bedroom some without a bed to sleep in and people with severe mental illness will continue to live in extremely difficult conditions often homeless.
Beyond belief

HoldingTheDoor · 10/07/2024 21:08

You know what happens when women “hate” men? Their feelings get hurt. What happens when men hate women? Women die.

rainbowbee · 10/07/2024 21:08

The perfectly lovely man who ran the local art shop had a laptop full of child abuse imagery. You can't tell, except that it's always a fucking man.

biscuitandcake · 10/07/2024 21:08

ExpectoPatronums · 10/07/2024 15:18

I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority.

You have definitely met men like that I'm afraid. No not all men (sigh) but statistically its almost impossible that you don't know men who would do that, at least not in your wider circle. You just don't know you know them

Teacherprebaby · 10/07/2024 21:09

Nomoremondays · 10/07/2024 20:47

That's a bit of a sweeping generalisation???

That's the point!!

brightyellowflower · 10/07/2024 21:12

Be careful who you date...

yesmen · 10/07/2024 21:13

I have no words.

Those articles make me want to cry.

The child sex abuse from men over 65 is mind blowing.

I really think viagra, porn and drugs need to be looked at again.

We are back to the bloody Victorian times - horrendous abuse of the vunerable - children, poor, young teens of both sexes, women etc by way too many men who are helped along by internet, drug companies and sustained cultural drives designed to shut up, shame and paint as hysterial or prudish the people concerned about it.

HoldingTheDoor · 10/07/2024 21:13

I was talking to my Mother the other day and discussed how many women we’d known(including both of us) who had been sexually abused or threatened by it. And how many men we had known who had committed it. It was a very lengthy list. All supposedly respectful men. There’s a lot more out there than people think.

YellowAsteroid · 10/07/2024 21:13

What strikes me, at the end of a long working day, interrupted by this awful news, is how bloody tiring it is being a woman, being always on the alert for this behaviour.

The strength of emotion for the loss of these three women - unknown to most/any of us - but who could be any of us; the strength of anger against a vile inhuman murderer.

It's exhausting.

Imagine a world without male violence against women ? What peace it would be for us.

So go well tonight, sisters, and I hope your good men cherish you, as you cherish them.

You don't need to feel sorry for the perfectly lovely men. There are no consequences for them. None.

There are lovely men in the world, I have three of them living in my house right now. When I rage at the violence of 'men' when we hear the never ending stories of killed women like this one, they don't get all hurt at my anger, because they agree. Men, as a sex, pose danger to women.

YellowDayToday · 10/07/2024 21:15

Those poor women, I’m heartbroken to read of another man murdering women.

Those saying that they don’t know of any man who would do this or any such bad crime….you have no idea!!! Seriously who do you think is accessing child pornography? Just weird men who live under bridges?

Do you think that those perpetrators of DV are just drunken football fans?

Do you think that men raping women are just dirty old men?

I hate to break it to you but it’s ‘just’ ‘normal’ men who go about their business while in secret harming women and children. You just DO NOT KNOW!

Noseybookworm · 10/07/2024 21:16

Roseyjane · 10/07/2024 14:27

Well they aren’t, do you know men who do this, I certainly don’t. Yes men kill as do women. Shit people are shit people. Irrelevant of gender. When we saw the recent case of women killing babies, little star to name one, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman charged with sexually abusing her pupils, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman abusing her partner and being sent to jail. Did we say fucking hell. Women are awful

no. Some men are awful as are some women.

90% of violent crime is committed by men. 98% of sexual crimes are committed by men. Males make up 96% of the prison population, women 4%. So not all men but a hell of a lot more men than women are violent criminals!

YellowDayToday · 10/07/2024 21:17

And this posters who suggest that today we need to feel sorry for the poor men whose feelings might be hurt….unbelievable.

WithACatLikeTread · 10/07/2024 21:17

"At least they were together".

That has to be one of the most stupidest comments I have ever read.

AnneElliott · 10/07/2024 21:19

Absolutely horrific that 3 women have been murdered by a pathetic man who couldn't have what he wanted.

I'm so angry that this still goes on - as pp have said 3 women a week! When will we do something about male violence?

The suffering and fear of those victims just doesn't bear thinking about. And while this has made the news, how many don't we hear about?

I used to work for police forensics and I can still recall the crime scene photos from a 'family annihilator' investigation. They come back to me in times like this when similar crimes take place. And that one has a fleeting reference in the news and then nothing.

RIP the victims

MaidOfAle · 10/07/2024 21:19

brightyellowflower · 10/07/2024 21:12

Be careful who you date...

Men are really good at hiding their violent entitled tendencies at first to reel you in. And some stalk female colleagues and other women who they've never dated.

Victim-blaming a murder victim is really inappropriate, and that's how your post comes across.

TheBerry · 10/07/2024 21:21

SpudleyLass · 10/07/2024 20:59

Strong disagree

We start to root out male violence by naming it what it is.

Clearly the statistics support that male violence against women is a serious problem in the UK.

Its fine to call men out on this.

The truly decent men recognise they're not personally being called out but that a problem is being named.

Then it’s more sensible to say “there is a pattern of male aggression towards female victims which should be addressed” or something like that, not “men are awful”, “I hate men”, etc. Or suggest an actual man tax as I saw suggested earlier 😭😭

I do agree with you- Most men ARE decent and considerate people.
I have been hit by men, one was the boyfriend of a friend when I challenged him.
He actually broke his hand hitting my head, and told the doctor he'd ''Hit a man''.

I too have been sexually abused by men as a child- BUT also have been saved by them, too.
Painting them all with the same brush is just simplistic thinking.

Of course not all men are bad.
Insert ''Muslim'' for ''Men''
or ''White' or any other label, and it would be considered abusive.
''All Muslims are bad!''...
''All Whites who go to Spain are thuggish drunks''

Life is far more nuanced than that.

There are some real man haters on here- but hate does not do anyone any good.

There are cruel women, the female SS guards in Nazi Germany were some of the most brutal according to survivors- but not ALL German woman were sadists.

elm26 · 10/07/2024 21:23

Horrific. My heart is heavy for John Hunt, may his wife and 2 daughters rest in peace. As for that piece of shit, I hope he rots in hell. I hope he's haunted every single day for the rest of his pathetic life. I fear for my DD growing up 😔

Given that all men benefit from male violence against women and the sexed pay gap is one example of men benefitting, I think a man tax to fund rape and DV services and prisons, which men are the majority of inmates of, would be perfectly reasonable.

Consider the true man tax to be us women calling them out for their aggression then.

With my history of past sexual assault - two by men I didn't even know at all - I really don't care about their feelings.
