Absolutely shocking. A 26 year old man named as Kyle Clifford, believed to be armed with a crossbow, is being sought by police.
The dead women are aged 61, 28 and 25.

I don't think it's appropriate to name the sister is it? She may choose to make some kind of statement in due course but given her current circumstances, she's probably not capable of it right now, or seeking public recognition.

What i meant was that she shouldn't be forever mentioned as a man's daughter. She is someone in her own right. Just as these three women should be. None are possessions but they always seem to be reported as someone's (a man's) wife, daughter, mother, grandmother. Let them stand as they are.

I imagine if your sibling murders someone it will do a turn on your mental health yes.

But we don't know what the case is here

What? I can't imagine anything turning me into a murderer (killing someone to protect myself and others is different but that's not what happened here).

My money is on the likelihood that poor upbringing is at least partially responsible - a sense of entitlement, poor boundary setting and a lack of emotional regulation both from one or both of the parents and in helping the child to regulate their own emotions.

Apparently a load of armed police have rushed into a cemetery ? It may not mean anything … I just hope they find him

I know the area well (oddly, I know all the areas well for various reasons). There’s a lot of woodlands in that area. I think we can all guess why he’s there.
from some of the footage earlier I think I saw his car parked up by the cemetery.

I hope he’s not killed himself and there’s some justice, not just yet another inquest.

Both very very angry men.

those poor poor women :(. Fucking scumbag. Whilst i know he Should he should get punishment through the law personally I hope he kills himself or is killed. Prison isn’t enough of a punishment for me so might as well remove him completely.

why hasn’t a photo been released seeing as they’re happy to give his name? Or is he one of the few people in existence with no pics online or anything? Given I live quite close to Bushey and ride on my own I’d really like to know what he looks like

His photo has been up on BBC News 24 channel since i first saw the story, which was about 11am. I imagine it's been widely circulated by now, but if you haven't seen it yet do check the Beeb

Breaking news that the police are rushing to the cemetery in North London.

I real hope this disgusting evil man is not found dead. He needs to serve time.

And for the record. Most of us know it's not all men like this. Obviously. Otherwise you wouldn't be married and wouldn't have sons..

halava · 10/07/2024 17:16

Murder
GBH
Paedophilia
Rape
Sexual assault
Domestic abuse
Coercive control
Financial control
Stabbing
Brawling

You can add to the list of male violence, most of it targeted at women.

They walk among us.

binkybinkybinkbink · 10/07/2024 17:18

Allegedly he's been shot dead in the cemetery. If this is true, then a comparatively peaceful death compared to his victims...

Horrific. The man being searched for is the ex boyfriend of one of the daughters, it seems.

Nearly always is, isn't it.

When I saw the headline, I first thought, "Father". Then looking at the ages and surnames, I though "boyfriend/ex boyfriend".

There will be plenty of work for Jess Phillips to do.

Swollenandgrouchy · 10/07/2024 17:19

Shot dead. Too fucking good for him. I hope this isn’t true.

God, this is awful.

The bbc coverage is all "wife of john hunt..." - so even in death, these women have to be defined by a man. One update says, "the women have been named as Carol Hunt, wife of John Hunt, and their daughters".

This subtle, constant, referencing to women only in the context of a man is part of the problem

Three women were killed today by a man. The three women are related to a man who is slightly famous.

Those poor women. I can't even imagine what they must have gone through.

It would’ve been the same in reverse had she been the ‘famous’ person, it would’ve been ‘husband of X’. That part isn’t misogyny it’s just human interest.

Totally devastating, imagine devoting your life to raising children to adults and nurturing your family only to have them ripped away in such a shocking way. My heart sinks whenever I read these stories as no matter what happens now, they’re gone, they’re not coming back, no punishment will make their last moments better. It’s so final and makes life feel so cheap.

And yes men are far more likely than women to do something like this, in fact I can’t think of a time a woman has done anything comparable to this?

There’s no rushing around by the police is there

ZoeCM · 10/07/2024 17:21

It's unbearable to think about. Imagine having to watch someone murder your mother, or sister, or daughter. And being powerless to save them. And knowing that you're next. I'm against the death penalty, but that opposition does get tested at times.

Newgirls · 10/07/2024 17:21

If he’s dead then good we don’t have to pay for him to be in prison etc

BirthdayRainbow · 10/07/2024 17:22

ExpectoPatronums · 10/07/2024 15:18

I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority.

No consolation when you're burying your loved one

BirthdayRainbow · 10/07/2024 17:23

oakleaffy · 10/07/2024 15:22

But there are thousands of men who aren't violent or abusive.
Let's get some perspective here.

No.

WalkingThroughTreacle · 10/07/2024 16:44

Absolutely agree with all those pushing back against the NAMALT excusers. Yes, not all men are violent towards women. Yes, some women are violent as well. We know this. What some people seem to be in denial about (hence the tedious NAMALT posts) is that we have a societal problem of male violence against women and girls and indeed male violence generally, not just in the UK but globally. And the 2 or 3 murders per week in England & Wales are just the extreme edge of a very big wedge. How many more are victims of assault, rape & sexual violence, intimidation & threatening behaviour, domestic abuse & violence all stemming from deeply entrenched views and beliefs held by men and boys generally?

Until we face up to that and accept the ugly truth we can't start to have serious and honest conversations in the hope of identifying the root causes and finding possible solutions. People playing the NAMALT card just gets in the way of those honest conversations.

Absolutely agree.

Feel devastated for these women and their family and friends. RIP.

@SoMauveMonty thanks. Weirdly it wasn’t appearing at all in the main bbc updates page. I didn’t realise they had also added a separate story with his photo on as was just checking there (tho it has appeared now)

He's ex forces too according to reports. So will have been formally trained in how to kill.

Exactly this.
The first murdering brother used a car to be his ego boost, and when it was damaged, instead of going to police and claiming on insurance, he beat to death a male pillion passenger on a moped.

This murderer - Probably had one of the victims say ''no'' to him, and he flew inti a demented rage.

Mothers of sons {and daughters} really owe a responsibility to society as a whole to parent their child/ren adequately, so they don't turn into hot headed killers out for revenge.

Christopher Watts, USA - he had a very unhealthy relationship with his mother and a weak father.

We need to look at how children are reared, surely.

It is possible to bring up decent human beings who can take a ''no'' without turning into a monster.

Not with a crossbow I’m guessing, and ‘forces’ could mean anything. Not necessarily a combat role.

And fathers?

Not on here it isn’t.

The number of posts about teenage boys excused for their rudeness, entitlement and aggression because of their ‘mental health’, suspicions about neurodiversity and ‘because everything is solved with love and support, not punishment’ is absolutely wild.

So male violence is still a woman's fault then?

dapsnotplimsolls · 10/07/2024 17:33

Those poor women.

Fucking male ego.
