Absolutely shocking. A 26 year old man named as Kyle Clifford, believed to be armed with a crossbow, is being sought by police.
The dead women are aged 61, 28 and 25.

Those poor women, how they must have suffered.

We have a long way to go if even on this day, on this one thread on a woman-centred forum, we still have to hear about the men.

May Carole, Hannah and Louise rest in peace.

saraclara · 10/07/2024 16:24

Can we please focus on the victims here? Those three women and their father (and another sister?)

Making this into a men thing is doing just what you're arguing about. Focusing on the men and not the victims.

We are focussing on men because these things don't happen in isolation. Violence against women and the attitudes that lead to it are systemic issues. How is that not obvious?

I have never ever met a man who would commit an offence like this. It is not a staggering proportion of them, its is a very very small minority.

Funny that, literally last week my DH had the shock of finding out someone he knew via a hobby and considered a decent guy, had been arrested on suspicion of murdering his wife.

It really threw him. He's the nicest man I've ever met my husband and it really shocked him someone in his circle could potentially be capable of a crime of this nature.

CalmZebra · 10/07/2024 16:32

MrsTerryPratchett · 10/07/2024 15:27

I believe it's almost three a week now.

And if you include women who take their own lives its a lot higher than that. According to Refuge it is estimated that around 3 women a week die by suicide as a result of domestic abuse.

Brefugee · 10/07/2024 16:07

There is a mental health angle, of course. Because you have to be deranged to react with multiple murders to a woman telling you she wants to end the relationship.

The "mental illness" you speak of is plain old male entitlement.

I live with mental illness and I don't murder people. The problem is a man thinking that women aren't allowed to say no to him, not mental illness.

It is harmful to mental patients to blame mental illness for a very typically male act rooted in very typically male attitudes about women.

CharlotteRumpling · 10/07/2024 16:34

I have said enough but :@MaidOfAle so very well put about how men as a sex benefit from male violence.

Elderflower14 · 10/07/2024 16:34

It's absolutely heartbreaking. Those poor women. How scared they must have been. Their poor husband/father.
The man who did this must be found before he takes the cowards way out and kills himself!!

TorturedPoetsDepartmentAnthology · 10/07/2024 16:34

Carol Hunt was 61 years old. I don’t know anything about her unfortunately. Hannah Hunt was 28 years and I believe she was either a beautician or involved in a beauty business. Louise Hunt was 25 and a talented dog groomer. She ran her own business which she set up a few years ago.

His brother beat a man to death {Murder} for damaging his ''ego boosting'' car.
NOT a sane and rational family.

Goodness knows how they were raised.
Badly, I assume.

Oxo01 · 10/07/2024 16:34

RIP lovely ladies.
Not sure if true but he may have been seen in enfield few hours ago. I live in enfield, this was put on neighbourhood notices.
From enfield Council.
You will be aware of the news of the suspect Kyle Clifford from the Enfield area, wanted in relation to a triple murder in Bushey.

We have been advised by the Police there is no perceived threat to the public so the guidance is to carry on as normal.

Local schools have been advised that end of day school procedures should continue as per normal.
There will be an enhanced police presence in the area and around some schools to provide reassurance to pupils and parents.

We would recommend following @metpoliceuk and @hertspolice on X / Twitter for further details and we will share information if appropriate.

YellowAsteroid · 10/07/2024 16:37

HoldingTheDoor · 10/07/2024 16:20

my point is: that view is deranged. That so many men have it, is deranged. It is not normal.

Male violence against women and girls is so common and has such a long indeed ancient history that I do think it’s normal. They’re not deranged. They’re angry, pathetic, bitter and weak individuals who do not accept women as equal beings but see them as the property of men. But society feeds this view at every turn. It doesn’t just happen in a vacuum.

Yes. I think we are so used to male violence it seems “normal.”

Women and girls adjust their lives to cope with or circumvent this violence.

That’s why all the NAMALT protests. Because many women just cannot afford to look at male violence directly. It’s dangerous knowledge.

Good to see something about them as people, not just victims of an angry man and relations of a minor celebrity.

Not necessarily. Male entitlement and rage doesn't equal poor mental health.

Thank you. We need more posts like this.

I hope the third sister will also be recognised as a person in her own right and not linked as another daughter to someone "famous", who actually isn't.

Clearly someone with mental health issues. Things would become clearer later but what a horror!

I don’t agree - it is the final ultimate act of control and will have followed a predictable 8 stages including coercive control and escalation . If you want to understand more I highly recommend Jane Monckton Smith’s excellent book

Every man who has a woman say "yes" when she wanted to say "no" because she feared that he would murder her has benefited from the lesson to all women that men like Kyle Clifford teach.

Every man who gets a job because a woman was too scared to even apply because she feared that she would not survive the walk home has benefited from the lesson to all women that men like Josef Puska and Wayne Couzins teach.

Every man who gets a job in construction or tech because a woman left the industry because of sexual harassment benefits from the actions of the harassers, even if he does not himself harass.

Men as a class benefit from male violence against women. Even the "good men".

Edited

This.

Knitgoodwoman · 10/07/2024 16:41

No it’s not ALL men, but it’s always A man.
yes as someone said earlier, women can be awful. But no where near as violent and extreme as men. How many men were murdered this year by a woman?

AzureAnt · 10/07/2024 16:41

No, someone with male entitlement issues. Mentally-ill women don't murder: I wonder why?

TorturedPoetsDepartmentAnthology · 10/07/2024 16:43

I’ve seen lots of comments about Louise Hunt on her business page saying she was lovely and hard working and they (and their dogs!) loved her. Seems like she established an excellent business and worked hard given she was only 25.

(I will name change but I am very local and did approach her once for a dog groom but she was not available. So, I knew of her and have seen her recommended and posting in local FB dog groups.)

EllenLRipley · 10/07/2024 16:44

Roseyjane · 10/07/2024 14:27

Well they aren’t, do you know men who do this, I certainly don’t. Yes men kill as do women. Shit people are shit people. Irrelevant of gender. When we saw the recent case of women killing babies, little star to name one, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman charged with sexually abusing her pupils, did we say all women are awful. When we saw the woman abusing her partner and being sent to jail. Did we say fucking hell. Women are awful

no. Some men are awful as are some women.

Get fucked with this bullshit
NAMALT but almost every person like that is a man and full well you know it.
If not you are delusional.

WalkingThroughTreacle · 10/07/2024 16:44

Absolutely agree with all those pushing back against the NAMALT excusers. Yes, not all men are violent towards women. Yes, some women are violent as well. We know this. What some people seem to be in denial about (hence the tedious NAMALT posts) is that we have a societal problem of male violence against women and girls and indeed male violence generally, not just in the UK but globally. And the 2 or 3 murders per week in England & Wales are just the extreme edge of a very big wedge. How many more are victims of assault, rape & sexual violence, intimidation & threatening behaviour, domestic abuse & violence all stemming from deeply entrenched views and beliefs held by men and boys generally?

Until we face up to that and accept the ugly truth we can't start to have serious and honest conversations in the hope of identifying the root causes and finding possible solutions. People playing the NAMALT card just gets in the way of those honest conversations.

Funny, you never hear about men "bickering". Only children and women bicker.

We're not bickering - what a ridiculous, infantalising word. We are absolutely furious, angry, heartbroken and destraught that yet again, women have been murdered by a man and yet so much of the commentary seems to be about the men - the survivor, the perpetrator (mental health issues? FFS). And that women all over the world are being murdered every single day in similar situations.

Anger is a perfectly legitimate and justified and reasonable emotion to be feeling right now.

I don't think it's appropriate to name the sister is it? She may choose to make some kind of statement in due course but given her current circumstances, she's probably not capable of it right now, or seeking public recognition.
