Thought it would be nice to have a thread just to post how he impacted our lives.

i really appreciated his 5:2 diet. Only thing that made a difference.

I read his fasting book and really enjoyed it - helped me into fasting and to understand more about blood sugar. And I think he also gave such reassurance as a human being - someone that always made you feel like problems could be solved and approached - such an inspiring and reassuring man to listen to. Very saddened but very grateful for all he did for everyone. Flowers

Green tea and flax seed 'Just one Thing' podcasts for me. May he rest in peace.

Cerialkiller · 09/06/2024 21:51

Demystified fasting for so many including me. Learned from that how our current systems of eating are so bad for us and we don't have to follow the standard.

He was always such a force for good, he helped so many and it never felt self serving.

OnehundredStars · 09/06/2024 21:53

He was such a warm and educated man. I am definitely going to buy his book to try and live a bit healthier (fasting)

dizzydizzydizzy · 09/06/2024 21:55

I have lowered my blood pressure thanks to Just One Thing. Gutted for his family.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 09/06/2024 21:55

I have listened to many of his podcasts and learned a lot. I don't feel as though I could manage to listen to one for a little while now, but in time, I plan to start listening again and to keep learning. He leaves a great legacy and I feel that continuing to learn from his work is a good way to honour his memory.

HarryPottersScar · 09/06/2024 21:56

I loved his way of being able to explain complicated medical / physiological things in a really accessible way without being patronising. I also liked his self-effacing nature and obvious sense of humour.

VotesForWomen · 09/06/2024 21:57

Beetroot for blood pressure from the Just One Thing podcast. I enjoyed all the episodes of it that I listened to.

Always found him an easy to listen to pleasant sounding chap. Somebody I'd happily have 2 beers with.

Moonshine5 · 09/06/2024 21:58

Warm engaging educating friendly person. Learned so much from him. Gutted

fedupandstuck · 09/06/2024 21:58

I have learnt about the Just One Thing podcasts and will give them a listen. I appreciated his informed approach to presenting medical information to the public.

menohnopausal · 09/06/2024 21:59

He had such a friendly voice, and was endearingly full of curiosity and enthusiasm. I loved his Just One Thing podcasts, and have adopted a number of the suggested habits.

Muthaofcats · 09/06/2024 22:02

Warm, energetic, engaging, open, always curious, always learning and sharing. The only comfort from this devastating loss is that he seemed to have lived a very happy life and I hope his focus on health and well-being is a lasting legacy for so many and that his family are incredibly proud of what a valuable contribution he made and how well he lived.

Crabble · 09/06/2024 22:02

His work on the 5:2 diet and intermittent fasting has had such an impact on me. Thank you Michael and RIP.

bombastix · 09/06/2024 22:02

He was a thoughtful man, and all our family listened to him on Radio 4. He did a lot for public health, and has changed many lives for the better. Someone who was a force for good.

Whosawake · 09/06/2024 22:04

This thread is a great idea. I really enjoyed his Just One Thing podcast. I wouldn't say I've ever grieved a celebrity dying before but I feel very sad today. The tributes being written about him are lovely though.

EasterlyDirection · 09/06/2024 22:05

He has made a tremendous difference to how I think about food and eating. I have adopted some of the just one thing habits. He explained things so well without being patronising and genuinely wanted to make a difference. RIP Michael.

Alltheyearround · 09/06/2024 22:08

Great thread. I'd thought the same earlier. No better tribute than to learn from his advice and try to live a little healthier.

I have one Deep Calm podcast left to listen to but I can't today. Too sad. But I will, in time, and I will remember him for the good he did. His kindness shone through.

Will genuinely miss him. Let's celebrate his life by being inspired to make some small changes. I'm in.

Abstractthinking · 09/06/2024 22:10

Just One Thing podcasts

BonifaceBonanza · 09/06/2024 22:11

I won’t be able to listen for a while. What a sad loss of such an inspirational and engaging speaker, I will miss his future work that we would have enjoyed.

RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue · 09/06/2024 22:11

Awwww what a sweet thread thank you @Stopsnowing

Lovely man, warm and engaging, great to listen to, intelligent, a bit of a maverick (was lambasted for the 5:2 diet but persevered!) and seemed to really grab peoples attention.

So very sad what has happened, and I am still processing it.

R.I.P. Michael Mosley! Flowers

Ponoka7 · 09/06/2024 22:11

I liked his non judgemental, but sciencey approach to better health. He did it without being patronising. Intermittent fasting has changed my life, not just my health. As has the fast 800, when I first started my weight loss goals. My GP was amazed how quickly my bloods were going towards normal, using his advice. He made biology interesting and easy to understand/read. Such a loss to the world.

Campestris · 09/06/2024 22:11

I started listening to his Just One Thing podcast after a recommendation from someone on Mumsnet. It really encouraged me to make changes to my daily routine, as well as just being very entertaining to listen to. I feel sad about his passing because he seemed like such a warm, curious, generous soul; the sort of intelligent man I can imagine having a really good chat with! I feel sad that he gave so much and I wish he had actually been a bit more appreciated in his lifetime, somehow. A massively underrated figure whose natural interest in living well has benefitted so many. RIP Michael Mosley.

Gorgonemilezola · 09/06/2024 22:12

His books on fasting, and Clare's recipe books. Really helpful in understanding what your body needs, not as extreme as low carb high fat, more a Mediterranean approach, a diet for life.

Just one thing - I stand on one leg when I'm brushing my teeth!

Rip Michael. Strength and love to his family.

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 09/06/2024 22:12

He came across as such a lovely man that genuinely enjoyed his work. I feel so sad for his wife and DC. It was obvious how much they loved each other. Such a sad ending to a good life

CitrineRaindropPhoenix · 09/06/2024 22:15

Fast 800. I think it probably saved my mums life in lockdown. She'd been obese for years and nothing stuck and she was diagnosed with diabetes just as the nhs closed.

She did fast 800 and lost huge amounts of weight. Even though it creeps up a little she can clear it fairly easily. It is a marvellous thing.
