Thought it would be nice to have a thread just to post how he impacted our lives.

i really appreciated his 5:2 diet. Only thing that made a difference.

"Hello, I'm Michael Mothsley".
Lovely, gentle man.
It's taken me by surprise at how very sad I'm feeling.

I've just rewatched 'Eat, Fast and Live Longer' on BBC iplayer. It's fascinating and inspiring.

Quite a few years ago I used to use parts of his documentaries in my sessions when I used to teach Health and Social Care in an FE college. He always used such great ways of presenting scientific subjects in a fantastic way.

I have also resorted to the 5:2 diet in desperation at times with success.

I will miss his shows and his ideas. RIP Michael.

The special programme about Michael Mosley is on Friday at 8pm - not tonight. Sorry for the misinformation!

I’m a year younger than him. Is it inappropriate to say that in addition to his wonderful work I found him very fanciable?

This made me laugh! No, not inappropriate on this thread of appreciation and I'm sure he'd have been delighted to know that he still had it at 67!

I absolutely loved his just one thing podcasts. They were such a joy to listen to, so easy to understand and put in to practice. I really appreciate him trying to help us live healthier lives.

So glad this thread exists - I've just read the whole thing and it's really helped (although it did make me cry again!). I'm feeling so unusually gutted about someone I've never met - genuinely feels like I'm grieving for a friend. I just can't shake the sadness. He seemed so kind, the world needs more people like him. I'm also a doctor with very similar interests so I'm a huge fan of his work and use it a lot in my work and personal life. I fast every day which is largely because of him and I feel so much better for it. He was just so engaging and inspiring and made health information so accessible for so many. He seemed to genuinely want to help people and he did such a good job of it. This situation just feels so unbearable and unfair and I so wish it hadn't happened. What an immense loss for the whole world, I cannot begin to imagine what his family are going through if we feel like this having never met him.

What a lovely thread (for a change). I loved his programmes, he made science simple to understand and had a real warmth. My elderly mum still does her 10 squats a day that I told her about after one of his programmes. I love the 'Just one thing' book with it's central message of any little change is good, just dancing round the kitchen when a great song comes on the radio is a step in the right direction. So sad that he is gone, his poor family and friends.

I can't believe how much it's hit me as well. I know there was huge public outpouring s when princess Diana died, I thought, how sad, she was young,2 boys left behind. Let Michael Mosleys legacy be a salutary warning,40c heat don't go out walking, stay in the shade and drink plenty of water. My DH got heat exhaustion once. We were going on holiday the following day Madeira, got a call from his friend at work, basically he worked in a garage with a plastic roof,no air conditioning. Can't remember the month but we never went abroad in the height of summer. He collapsed, ended up in hospital on a drip.

What's not to like? He was smart, funny kind-hearted by all accounts and he had a real twinkle in his eye. All of those are attractive things in a man.

Loved his stuff! When I read the obits was pleased to know he'd produced earlier stuff I adored - such as the Human Face documentaries with John Cleese.

Like many here it is the first time I've ever felt teary on the death of someone I didn't know.

He did huge good at popularising medical research - summarising complicated research for bite able consumption. It's a real issue with research just not being accessible for folk.

Really hope his family can draw some comfort for the massive impact he's had in the world.
