It is possible it's a woman being held captive so no one has even seen her 😰

And she might have other children as well. We don't know.

BlusteryLake · 04/06/2024 13:31

What's so disturbing is that there is a woman who has been living in the same area for quite a number of years, who has had at least three full term pregnancies with no child subsequently in her care, and yet nobody seems to have noticed this.

Snugglemonkey · 04/06/2024 13:31

Theweepywillow · 04/06/2024 09:49

Why would you assume it’s the father?

I would, purely because of the fact that Elsa was less than an hour old when found. Not a lot of time to deliver the baby, placenta etc. Clean yourself up, get ready to go out, wrap up the baby, travel to the spot etc. It was done very quickly.

That would make me fear that the father took the baby. Of course, we cannot know.

Bbq1 · 04/06/2024 13:33

It's horrifying that 3 babies who are full siblings.have been abandoned. Really shocking that they are to the same parents. Tga parents will never come forward, they never do.

PrinceAmongMen · 04/06/2024 13:36

@TheBloatedMiddle You can get 3 months worth of pills for the the equivalent of £3 per month (£10 a pack) online. So, I don't think cost or immigration status is the reason she's (or anyone) not getting it anyway

I don't think this is an 'I want contraception but somehow can't access it' case whatsoever

TheBloatedMiddle · 04/06/2024 13:43

Okay- so off the top of my head;

  • doesn't have access to the internet. if this woman is abused, or trafficked the last thing her abuser trafficker would want is for her to have access to the internet
  • Doesn't have a bank card or debit card (which you need ID for and proof you can stay in the UK- I have to show my immigration status every time I open up a new account)
  • may not have an address they can have things sent to
  • may not be able to speak or read English
  • May not have access to any money of any sort at all.

You know? It's not necessarily that easy.

I can't imagine it would be difficult to track down relatives in this age of DNA testing.

There's no general DNA database. Should anyone come forward they will be able to ascertain whether they are actually a parent of these children.

'It is possible it's a woman being held captive so no one has even seen her 😰'

If it was a woman held captive the newborn baby could be chopped up or burnt or even simply buried to dispose of the body but leaving the infant in public leaves it open for forensic investigation.

They will put far more resources into tracking down a baby murderer than tracking down an abandoned baby's mum, although now they have gone public with this who knows what will happen in the next couple of years.

The person could even be using abandoning the babies rather than murdering them as some sort of blackmail against her.

beergiggles · 04/06/2024 13:57

Could the parents be 'Constance Martin and Mark Gordon' types?

photosdilemma · 04/06/2024 09:40

There was a similar case documented on Long lost families once - turned out nothing to do with abuse and everything to do with the two adults involved having an affair which spanned decades

In this day and age of availability of contraception there really is no excuse

Wouldn't the affair be more obvious if you were pregnant for 9 months?

FriNightBlues · 04/06/2024 14:00

If the babies were abandoned in 2017, 2019 and 2024, isn’t it possible there was at least one other child? Possibly born during lockdown.

justquestions · 04/06/2024 14:02

Thank goodness she was found quickly. Her poor mother must be in a terrible state.

Definitely, but could be more along the lines of late miscarriages, still birth.. rather than a child actively being kept and raised by this ‘family’.

It’s difficult to come up with the ‘why’ of why someone would draw attention by abandoning 3 babies rather than just kill them & hide their bodies, as a previous poster mentioned. Abandoning an hour old baby is beyond cruel and twisted, but I suppose some people will rationalise ‘well I didn’t murder the child’, even though they could clearly die from exposure and lack of medical care. In my opinion, it probably boils down to a mix of religious beliefs and lack of education.

The person holding her in captivity might not be that psychotic to want to kill a child. It might be a step too far even for them

beergiggles · 04/06/2024 13:57

I would say the opposite. Gordon and Martin wanted to keep all their babies because they considered themselves to be good parents.

In most of those horrific captivity cases we know of, the men did not murder the babies. Jaycee Lee Duggard, Elisabeth Fritzl, Amanda Berry, etc... all gave birth and were left to raise their children in the dungeon or, in Elisabeth's case, left to raise some while the others were "abandoned" by her captor.

In fact I don't know of any such cases where the baby was deliberately killed.

icallitasplodge · 04/06/2024 14:27

On gedmatch you can see if your parents were related via dna so there is definitely a test for this.

My feeling is that it’s an abusive situation. Family members will have noticed three concealed pregnancies. Perhaps not one, but THREE. They are appealing for those that know, to speak out.

KreedKafer · 04/06/2024 14:28

JaneJeffer · 04/06/2024 08:49

The mother is probably trapped in an abusive situation Sad

This is by far the most likely explanation.

EmmaPeele · 04/06/2024 14:31

@trekking1 My husband suffers from a mental illness called Psychosis and has frequent psychotic episodes. He is receiving treatment from the Early Intervention Team for Psychosis. Not once has he chopped anyone up or ever had the desire to hurt anyone. He hears voices and his imagination runs away with him. The only person he ever wants to hurt is himself, to escape his anxious thoughts. I think (I hope) you are mixing up being Psychotic with being a Psychopath, two very different things.

haveatye · 04/06/2024 14:31

It's fair to say anyone who would do that must be in a bleak situation of some sort.

This is particularly awful because the babies might not be safe. However there are lots of women who have kids taken into care one by one, but keep having them. They're just trapped in a horrible cycle, usually involving drink/drugs/violence.

Just all bleak

There isn’t but….

Just through ancestry, gedmatch, gro index (there’ll be consent and GDPR issues with using this for police purposes, I’m sure) it’s easy enough to know pretty well some of the family members. I’m sure they know roughly, and the police just need someone to come forward.

i have been a search angel for adopted people, and you can usually trace though matches and free resources.

Yellowpingu · 04/06/2024 14:36

SoupDragon · 04/06/2024 09:33

What happened to the "baby boxes"? I thought they'd introduced them along the lines of the ones Germany (is it Germany?) has.

We have them in Scotland (originated in Finland) but I don’t know about the rest of the UK. Besides, you only get them if you have a registered pregnancy. I can’t see this pregnancy being registered with a GP or midwife

icallitasplodge · 04/06/2024 14:39

In fact now there are three full sibling babies, there will be three sets of dna matches, which will both widen and help narrow down the search (as some siblings get closer dna relationships with some family members than others due to the split)

Id suspect this announcement is for evidence and corroboration purposes

OK. So I didn't receive that message on our info systems... You know best!

If you do have information about this case that you're privy to because of your job, you frankly ought to be sacked for spreading it around on a public forum.
