These threads are to discuss the disappearance of Nicola Bulley from St Michael's on Wyre.

No speculation without evidence please.

Here are some frequently asked questions, with answers:

1.Where do Nicola and her husband work?

They both work from home which is why he was at home on the day she went missing.

2.Where was the dog harness found / the phone?

Dog harness was found near the river edge not the bench, phone was on on/near the bench.

  1. Has the river been searched?

Yes by the police and volunteers from the Specialist Search team

  1. Had the dog been in the water, and maybe Ms Bulley went in after her?

Willow appeared distressed but ‘bone dry’, according to the woman who found her. There was no sign of her having gone in the river.

  1. Why would she leave her phone on the bench?

Nicola’s phone was found on the bench, still connected to a conference call. So whatever happened, there was no time to end the call or to alert others on the call.

  1. Why was she on mute with no video for her business meeting?

This was not unusual, She used to go on work meeting calls with video off and microphone

  1. Where was her partner while she was out walking their dog?

He was at home at the time.

  1. What about this abandoned house?

Its not abandoned. Its owned by a lovely family who have lived in the village for generations and would do anything they can to help in the search for Nikki.
It has been searched, inside and outside, from top to bottom by the police. This has been clarified with the family themselves and also with the police.
They have never refused entry to the police or told them they need a warrant to search.

  1. Did Nicola have a dog ball with her?

No she didn’t she used to but stopped taking a dog ball on walks.

  1. Was she swept out to sea?

The police Seargent has said it’s now a possibility Nicola’s body could have drifted out to sea.

  1. We’re CCTV cameras working in the area:

The CCTV camera which would have captured everything unfortunately wasn’t working. But the police are actively working to identify 700 motorists travelling in the Garstang Road area on the 27TH of January.

  1. Are there any other paths she could have gone down?

Apart from the river, there are only three exits, two of which are covered by CCTV. On her way in, she was seen by several people. No one saw her leave.

Oh I suppose the river would be ‘second party’. 3rd party would be abductor/ attacker.

ofwarren · 10/02/2023 17:52

It’s now 2 weeks since #NicolaBulley went missing & our search is continuing.

People may have seen less police activity around the river, but thats not because we have stepped down our searches, rather the focus of the search has moved further downstream & out towards the coast.

Specialist resources including underwater search teams, drones, mounted and the police helicopter were out today as we comb the River Wyre and down and out into the sea.

Throughout this investigation we have been keeping an open mind about what might have happened to Nicola.

We continue to look at all the potential scenarios to eliminate them. We are reviewing our decisions regularly.

Based on all the work we have done up to now, our belief remains that Nicola may have fallen into the river for some reason.

It remains the case that at the present time there is absolutely nothing in all the extensive enquiries we have made that suggests anything untoward has happened or that there is any third-party involvement in Nicola’s disappearance, but the investigation is ongoing.

We are aware of reports in the media about a red van being reported to us & we would like to stress that whilst we are making efforts to identify the owner at this time there is nothing to suggest this was anything other than one of many 100's of vehicles in the area that morning

The inquiry team are working through hundreds of pieces of information and reports such as this in the media can distract them from genuine enquiries.

Our priority throughout this investigation has been on finding Nicola and providing answers for her family.

I wondered that. Surely foul play would be second party involvement otherwise who would that be?

It suggests to me there's more than one and less than two.

No. The river would not be a second party.

What does 'third party involvement' mean?

Excellent question.

No. The river would not be a second party.

Third party I think means external to the family.

are they insane? Sounds to me like looking to wrap it up this weekend.

if I were the family I’d have gone nuclear if I’d seen that. Wtf are they thinking?

melonraspberry · 10/02/2023 17:56

The programme tonight will hopefully put so much pressure on the police they have to keep going and can’t wind it down.

I don’t understand why people don’t think it’s possible to give a calm interview in the midst of trauma. Obviously they’ve never been in the middle of a desperately traumatic situation.

But Paul just needs to keep the pressure on the police , his world has fallen apart I don’t think it matters what the twitter twats sat and I hope he realises that .

ITV Yorkshire
The disappearance of Nicola Bulley has brought back so many memories for Joan Lawrence, the mother of missing York chef Claudia, she wants to tell the family not to lose hope. She says it’s how she’s survived the last 14 years without her daughter.

Bless her 😥

Third party I think means external to the family.

How can it mean external to the family? Are they saying the believe something happened within the family?

A third party is an entity that is involved in some way in an interaction that is primarily between two other entities.

A person or group besides the two primarily involved in a situation, especially a dispute.

Who are the 2 other entities that were involved, Nicola and?

Very strange phrasing I say.

Just think it’s terrrible comms. Police feel like they are In full reputation management mode with the investigation secondary. Mounted police on the promenade? Wtaf

Crumpetdisappointment · 10/02/2023 18:02

i dont think the police need public pressure

Catstaps · 10/02/2023 18:02

What use is that..do they think she will be lying on the pavement

MySugarBabyLove · 10/02/2023 18:02

Just watched a preview of Paul's interview tonight. He doesn't believe for one moment that she is in the river and wants the police to step up the search to all houses and outbuildings etc so many of these expectations, while understandable, are not realistic.

The police cannot just start searching houses. they can make door-to-door enquiries, which they have done, but you have to have a warrant to search a property, and a warrant his issued based on evidence that something (or someone) is potentially inside that property.

Equally they cannot make this a criminal investigation because thre is no evidence that a crime has been committed.

Many of us believe that's exactly what they need.

Rubbish. Without pressure they will shut this down asap.

Crumpetdisappointment · 10/02/2023 18:04

they dont need public pressure
it is the family's concern, not joe public

DerangedViper · 10/02/2023 18:05

Catstaps · 10/02/2023 17:38

The police say nothing to suggest anything untoward has happened…it beggars bloody belief..are they stupid..she gone inexplicably missing.. their communication is atrocious

That was an incredibly poor choice of words!!

Unless they are saying they believed she has just walked off, has let them know she's safe but not returning, then of bloody course something untoward has happened!!

The family are clearly not aligned with the police. The family need public pressure otherwise the police will shut this down

The 'beach' there is not a proper beach. You can't really go on it very easily.

i disagree @confounded234
it is not up to strangers with their speculation and theories

melonraspberry · 10/02/2023 18:07

I don’t care what the legals are around opening a criminal enquiry. They have no evidence she went in the water, she clearly didn’t, and it sounds like no evidence at all that she may have killed herself or wished to disappear. So everything is pointing to abduction and that should be enough for them to start treating this as a suspected abduction.

Bluekerfuffle · 10/02/2023 18:08

pigsinoodies · 10/02/2023 17:39

I notice they're specifically saying 'may have fallen', rather than using 'entered'. Is that new?

No. They have said fallen a few times before.

MySugarBabyLove · 10/02/2023 18:08

These cases are never shut down. The Claudia Lawrence has never been shut down, but there has to come a point when a search is scaled back. It’s neither realistic or reasonable to expect this level of police involvement for an indeterminate amount of time.

They will always follow up leads, the case will remain a missing person’s enquiry, but at some point they have to call time on this level of searching with no evidence.
