Sounds like the friend Tilly-Anne who claimed the empty property hadn't been searched was wrong, the police have searched it from top to bottom

The harness was part way between the bench and the water. Not actually “near” the water as such.

That is why I said “nearer” and not “near”.

I disagree. I believe that she would not have voluntarily entered that particular stretch of water if she had intended to take her own life if she had thought it through (which is not a guarantee) . She knew it extremely well and she would have known the likelihood of it being too shallow.

People who end their lives by drowning mostly choose foolproof locations like the father of a family member who drove his car off the edge of a cliff into the sea in Essex and then all those cases around Beachy Head in Sussex.

I bet there are stats that show the most common methods for each sex. I can't imagine drowning is very common in women either.

We don't know for sure how the phone/harness/lead were left. Because they could have been on the bench, and the dog could have knocked them off

MaggieFS · 09/02/2023 12:11

@Mirabai

Yes exactly. And he's obviously willing to stake his reputation on it by what he's said.

Did he conduct searches below the weir or was that solely the police divers?

Probably because a) it most likely was made up (I've not heard about it) b) police will have checked up on that.

StickyWickets · 09/02/2023 12:13

I too think it would be unlikely an attacker would strike someone in the middle of an active call/teams meeting that presumably was on loud speaker. As mentioned, there would be no way of knowing that she was on mute or camera was off so you wouldn't take the chance.

I think the phone left on loud speaker and harness on/by the bench was left to keep the dog from leaving the spot while an exit was made via the gate. This was why the dog was running between the gate and bench. It wanted to follow her via the gate but was conflicted by having been instructed to 'wait' at the bench.

If she entered the water, I also think it wasn't near the bench at all.

I actually forgot about this
I wonder how common it was for her to have an evening meeting?

And something about not replying to her sister's text, which was deemed very unusual?

melonraspberry · 09/02/2023 12:14

She obviously loved that area and loved water if she was a strong swimmer. I think there could be something in @Bitteplease theory sadly . Phone left near dog to make sure the dog was found.

although against it, the fact she’s not been found, and her partner and friends clearly don’t think this .

It wasn’t really nearer the water though it was nearer the bench, hence my comment.

Can't believe people are naming witnesses on twitter ! Shocking behaviour !

It doesn't seem usual for a mortgage advisor, does it? Don't know if the poster is insinuating that she was having an affair but the police would have all the communications in any case and not necessarily suspicious in itself.

Gymnopedie · 09/02/2023 12:16

And now we have the vigilantes

If it actually happened. I've not seen in mentioned anywhere. and even if it did, I can't see much suspicious in it.

SoTedious · 09/02/2023 12:16

*it really so impossible to have got her out of sight in fifteen minutes?

They didn't need 15 minutes. They had all the time in the world, police weren't called till 10.50*

They would have had to get her out of sight of the person who found the phone at 0935 though. The time window for her to have been attacked is very short given that she was seen in the field at 0910.

All her belongings were quite scattered weren't they? If her Fitbit was in the water (not confirmed?) then all that says is that the item is in the water, not the wearer.

It appears that a handful of her items have almost been chucked.

Phone on the floor, harness elsewhere on the floor, Fitbit (possibly) in the river.

If she was last seen in the field there's nothing to say she's gone anywhere near this bench herself.

If her Fitbit was in the water (not confirmed?) then all that says is that the item is in the water, not the wearer.

I think this crucial. But then where is the Fitbit now? Surely two teams of divers would have found it by now?

Or she could have had earphones in which would also mean she wouldn't have heard anyone approaching.

I was thinking more about her frame of mind if anything.
Like you say though, the police have all this info

Where on earth are you getting the idea her belongings were all scattered? None of her belongings have been found and no-one has ever said that.

RingRingRingGoesTheTelephone · 09/02/2023 12:21

I think the fact she did the same walk more or less everyday and also shared her route on strava which wasn't made private (I heard someone else mention) may have given someone the chance to plan something around her predictable movements. I really hope not, but being in the same place at the same time daily with windows of no one else in sight, it makes me wonder?

I hope nothing of the sort has happened and there's a happy outcome, especially for those 2 little girls, her family continue to be in my thoughts. Awful to think they have no further information 2 weeks on.

Oh, I see. Perhaps her boss shared something with her about her job which would never have come up at the Teams Meeting the next day? Then again, your boss wouldn't usually arrange an evening dinner if he was going to break bad news to you. The dinner could have been corporate ents involving several people, not just the two of them.

He searched downstream of the weir too. It’s apparently quite shallow there in parts - in fact too shallow for the dinghy and they had to take it out at one point - and there were areas a body could easily get snagged in the meanders and reeds.
