Article here

I like Leo Hickman, and I loved this piece, (had to stifle a sob a couple of times!) but I'm amazed that despite having the transcript he still doesn't know the name of the woman who talked him through it!

The operator was great wasn't she? My eyes did prickle.

His wife was looking quite unreasonably pretty in the photos as well. I looked like death on toast after my labours. All the photographic evidence has been destroyed lost.

I loved this bit too:

(Their first 2 were girls )

damewashalot · 15/09/2007 22:28

Another wuss here tears streaming down my face reading that.

Want another one.

moondog · 15/09/2007 22:28

wipes

norkmaiden · 15/09/2007 22:30

Eek read that on the edge of my seat!

Good story to tell though! Much respect to home-birthing women

mrsdarcy · 15/09/2007 22:31

I cried whilst reading it

And I left the article out for DH to "find" - part of my mission to persuade him that another baby is a good idea

totaleclipse · 15/09/2007 22:31

Aww, thats lovely, but pmsl at this bit..........

Operator: With each contraction, place the palm of your hand against the vagina and apply firm but gentle pressure to keep the baby's head ...

Leo: To keep it in?

Operator: No, you do not want to keep it in.

moljam · 15/09/2007 22:34

aawwwwwwwwww!

berolina · 15/09/2007 22:43

Oh, that was lovely. But it didn't help my heightened hormonal state - I was blimming due blimming yesterday, and have been anticipating it for blimming weeks as ds arrived at 38 weeks.

moondog · 15/09/2007 22:45

Ooh Berolina,so soon!
How exciting!!!
Seems like last week when you had your last one.
How long ago was it? Two years?

berolina · 15/09/2007 22:47

2 years 4 months and 2 mcs

Last mc was a year ago this month. Would never have dreamed I'd be 40 weeks a year later.

moondog · 15/09/2007 22:49

Didn't realise youy had had two mcs.
Tjought it was only the one.
Post as soon as you have given birth or we will be very cross indeed y'hear?

WendyWeber · 15/09/2007 22:49

Ooooh, berolina! How do you feel? Any twinges? Here, come and sit in this comfy chair and put your feet up!

Good luck, love
