The big news story of the day "In tests, 9 out of 10 Brits prefer custard creams"

From the Guardian today:

"The custard cream has been voted Britain's favourite biscuit. Respondents placed it above the bourbon and shortbread when asked to name their tea-time treat of choice. More than nine out of 10 people plumped for the custard cream - 93% of the overall vote. Next in line was the bourbon, with just over 2% of the popular vote, while the cookie and ginger biscuit garnered the support of just 1.5% and 1.19% of respondents. The digestive received less than 1% of the vote. More than 7,000 people took part in the online poll organised by the wheat and gluten-free product maker Trufree. "

I'm sorry but I just don't believe it.

2 triple packs eh? So that's an afternoon sorted then...

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:19

Has anyone had the M&S viennese selection box.....FAB! every last one, no duds whatsoever.

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:20

Mmmm, M & S chocolate selection at Christmas - getting WaaaAAAy too into this thread..

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:21

There is no biscuit in a Jaffa as there is no bread in short bread.

unknownrebelbang · 28/08/2007 17:21

Erm, why argue about whether jaffa cakes are cakes or biscuits? They're yummy, that's all you need to know.

Although, i do remember some debate some years ago, re VAT, lol.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:22

don't usually care for chocolate biscuit selections as a rule (we get given them at CVhristmas and I'd much prefer a big tin of chocolates).
Jaffa cakes are cakes i my mind, but to be eaten as a biscuit

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:23

British Gov classifies it as cake....for time being!

filthymindedvixen · 28/08/2007 17:23

custard creams are vile

But I can polish off a packet of jaffA cakes once a month with no problems.
My other huge vice is party rings...

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:23

jaffa cake porn

cornsilk · 28/08/2007 17:23

Philistines

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:24

Slightly that this is the only thread to have really piqued my interest and i've been loitering on here for 2 hours!

Even more as I should really be on the 10/10 thread

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:24

For FMV

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:24

Ok, wagon wheels now - have they got smaller ?

cornsilk · 28/08/2007 17:25

Party rings! Love 'em.

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:25

Bleurgh!!

Wagon wheels are shite. Theyy taste of polystyrene.

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:26

JV - agreed but will still eat them if nothing else in house

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:26

Me too

cornsilk · 28/08/2007 17:27

But why would anyone actually buy wagon wheels?

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:28

Good point, well made cornsilk.

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:28

I agree, wagon wheels are Horse food.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:28

I'd buy them because they remind me of tea at my friend's house and they seemed really big then

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:29

I dont buy them but when I was still at home my mum bought them for packed lunches - hated them but still snaffled them if there was nothing else 'biscuity'!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:30

they just make me feel nostalgic, never mind the taste.
I used to love those foil covered teacake things too

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:30

Whatever happened to Banjo chocolate bars

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:31

You know what else I find putrid (and I do buy these as DP likes them)?

Jammy friggin Dodgers.

Nasty, tasteless, sorry excuse for a biscuit.
