From the Guardian today:

"The custard cream has been voted Britain's favourite biscuit. Respondents placed it above the bourbon and shortbread when asked to name their tea-time treat of choice. More than nine out of 10 people plumped for the custard cream - 93% of the overall vote. Next in line was the bourbon, with just over 2% of the popular vote, while the cookie and ginger biscuit garnered the support of just 1.5% and 1.19% of respondents. The digestive received less than 1% of the vote. More than 7,000 people took part in the online poll organised by the wheat and gluten-free product maker Trufree. "

I'm sorry but I just don't believe it.

They are the sort of thing that at 2am in a roadside cafe seem nostalgically appealing. Then you take that first rubbery bite and remember why you haven't eaten one for 20 years.

bought Party Rings for the first time last week as a treat for DS.

They certainly look much better than they taste. I hate them, even ds isn't bothered. I suspect they'll finish up in the bin.

What were banjo's like then - they ring a bell. You can still get those teacake things!

I like happy faces.

berolina · 28/08/2007 17:33

Have been befallen by a horrible craving for bourbons and chocolate digestives - in the middle of blimming Germany - after having only hours previously successfully overcome a craving for swiss roll. Thank you all very much indeed

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:33

There used to be a variant that had cream in them. Now they weren't bad.

cornsilk · 28/08/2007 17:33

Lots of finger prints on my PC screen. For a minute there I thought I'd typed happy faeces.

DANCESwithDumbledore · 28/08/2007 17:33

Best jammie dodgers are the ones you got in 'family circle' biscuit boxes where the jam was actually made of plastic and you could easily lose a tooth in.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:36

what about playbox - iced biscuits in the mode of party rings but square with things like drums on them in icing
Ds used to love cow biscuits

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/08/2007 17:37

gypsy creams - were they treacly ?

JeremyVile · 28/08/2007 17:38

Possibly - they were two oaty biscuits with some type of flavoured (could have been treacle flavour) cream in the middle.

clumsymum · 28/08/2007 17:38

oh cow biscuits, gorgeous dunked in hot chocolate

FingerInTheMash · 28/08/2007 17:39

Bourbons are just 'wrong'

clumsymum · 28/08/2007 17:39

No, gypsy creams surely had chocolate cream in the middle.

cornsilk · 28/08/2007 17:40

I remember gypsy creams, the biscuit was all crumbly and melty.
