Just on Spanish news (again) about this and they said that the parents have been interviewed by police today in regards to 'inconsistencies'. Also said that their emails and phone cals are being studied.

Bizarre, bizarre, bizarre.

Surprised that the interview thing has not been on UK news.

ScaryHairy · 08/08/2007 21:19

Sky says that the meeting was informal to keep up with developments. I've read elsewhere that they meet pretty regularly. It could just be that a lot is being read into this meeting without reason.
I too don't think the parents are involved, and I'll eat my shoes if turns out they are.

JeremyVile · 08/08/2007 21:20

Me too.

Not my fave ones though, just some flop-flips or something.....

Wolfgirl · 08/08/2007 21:47

oh gosh, this thread has picked up.

Yes, there is just so much media reportage going on, it makes your head spin. And now we are being told that the McCanns and their friends have had their emails and telephone calls intercepted. The results being that they have evidence to prove that they were involved and that little Madeleine is indeed dead.

And in the next breath we hear about this bloke who commited suicide in Switzerland, about a bloke he shot in the chest to silence him as he may bleat about pedo activities. We've had repeated sightings, but no one brave enough to call out her name or make physical contact. We've also heard a month back about some Private I, who had evidence about a French man; we've had Psychics from all over the globe have their tuppence worth! Poor Robert Murat has been violated without hard evidence -

the list goes on!

And dont you wonder why then, that the Portugese police make every effort to keep their investigations to themselves!

None of us have an idea of the entire depth of investigations that the PJ have been involved with. I guess it must be true to say that there have been some laspe judgements made by them, but by heck (as me old gran would say) they've certainly got this right.

And where does all this speculation leave not only the McCanns, but us - the public. Because we are involved just as much imo. We have been drawn in by this mystery, by this very sad and awful event. It leaves the McCanns gutted and lacking faith no doubt in humanity - at a time when they need support the most, 'the tide is turning' the media tells us! but why, its all speculation. And us the public! Frustrated, tired and desperately wanting results, wanting little Madeleine found.

We all need closure on this, but with all this speculation, it cant be doing anyone any good. Surely!

kookaburra · 09/08/2007 08:08

But it is the McCanns who have kept it in the public eye, so they can hardly complain if the speculation is not palatable.

Hannie55 · 09/08/2007 08:24

"....And where does all this speculation leave not only the McCanns, but us - the public. Because we are involved just as much imo...."

I dont think so somehow.

kookaburra · 09/08/2007 08:24

There is a very interesting forum on this and related topics here

LucyJones · 09/08/2007 08:27

wolfgirl - how can you possibly say ou are involved just as much as the McCanns.... their daughter is missing ffs, you are just reading news reports.. you are quite obviously bonkers

pagwatch · 09/08/2007 08:47

"beacuse we are involved just as much"

If any of us actually are involved just as much then I think 'we' need serious, serious quality mental health support.
I have never commented on the previous debates about whether the attention about this case is voyeristic ot genuine concern. But a comment like that just beggars belief. How can anyone actually believe that watching this unfold through the media is actually equitable to having the child you gave birth to go missing. Seriously!

exactement

Peachy · 09/08/2007 10:49

Agree.

personally dont think the aprents as a unit are involved- for a start it wuldnt be in their interests to keep the case as visible, and probably they'd have come home, better to be arrested on british soil i would think (though dont know) than to be arrested abroad.

Wolfgirl · 09/08/2007 10:57

oh here we go. Bitches with claws out. Nutter alert, bonkers. Great, just great.

And yes, we are all involved. Just look at the amount of people commenting on this thread, and other threads. Look at the thousands reading the news. That is what I mean by involvement. Unless you are heartless bitches, everyone reading about Madeleines disappearance will be affected in someway.

LucyJones and icod, you continuously throw out insults.

Pagwatch, what beggers belief? that I say the public are involved. So what should we do? not read the papers, watch the news, comment on forums?

Dont slate me in this fashion, thank you very much. I dont do it to you or other participants on these forums, and would appreciate that you dont do it to me. Disagree by all means, but insults? Oh yes of course, you lot are the Mumsnet police and feel its your duty to slate and insult. Well leave me out of it please!

I actually read that the DNA found was that of a man and so that they are not ruling at the possibility that it was Madeleine. I am not sure which report is correct. Personally, I would hold on to hope for as long as I could.

LIZS · 09/08/2007 11:02

I guess they can't rule it out conclusively -wonder if the man's dna/fingerprints match any database ? - until they have a cast iron alternative.

You surely have to realise WG that by making those kind of comments you are inviting criticism.

Maybe it didn't come out how you meant (though it seemed quite clear), so for your own sake at least, think before you post.

Good post. This is the first time I have commented on one of these creepy threads and I have just one question - do you not think your time would be better used elsewhere? There are plenty of children in this country who really could use your help and support.

In the US we have alot of programs that concentrate on getting a childs image out into the public. It has proven vital to helping find missing children.

We have an AMBER ALERT that immediately broadcast the childs picture and any suspected vehicle all over. This information is sent to cell phones, email address, across highway signs, and on the news.

Have a look here,
Amber Alert

This little girl was missing a signficant amount of time. Somebody recognized her from a missing billboard and called the police.

Elizabeth Smart

Here she is with Oprah

aloha · 09/08/2007 11:17

Not exactly. They recognised her abductor because the family suddenly remembered the bloke was a wierdo who'd done work for the family and Elizabeth's sister (iirc) remembered his voice from when she was in the room with Elizabeth when she was kidnapped.
I can see the case would give the McCanns hope, but it is slightly different.

expatinscotland · 09/08/2007 11:18

Elizabeth Smart was significantly older, for one. 14 as opposed to 4.

aloha · 09/08/2007 11:19

Yes, it would be very, very hard work to keep a four year old, as opposed to a 14 year old
Ach, mustn't talk like this. too upsetting.

Leati · 09/08/2007 11:26

I am just trying to show that spreading a missing childs photo and any other known information around can be vital. And that until you child is found (dead or alive) as a parent, you never give up hope.

www.life-prints.com/ChildAbductionPrevention.html

As of 2002, 322 children safely recoverd via the Amber Alert.
