If you are against it - why are you?

We need more prison wardens like you. What was the name of that P.O on Bad Girls?

ruty · 26/06/2007 16:31

IcingOnTheCake · 26/06/2007 16:31

ruty · 26/06/2007 16:31

plummymummy · 26/06/2007 16:32

Yes that's the one! What a great programme that was.

ruty · 26/06/2007 16:33

bum doesn't work. if you type in
news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/5031088.stm
you will find that roll ups are more likely to give you lung cancer, apparently...

plummymummy · 26/06/2007 16:34

That surprises me because when I used to help run a well-being clinic at work, the smoking cessation coordinator told patients roll-ups were better.

ruty · 26/06/2007 16:34

I better start chewing lots of gum for my farting protest then...

ruty · 26/06/2007 16:34

Gah.

plummymummy · 26/06/2007 16:37

By great I meant mindless entertainment. I don't think those programmes stand up to scrutiny of plot

BrownSuga · 26/06/2007 16:38

For it. i've lived in canada and norway where they have it and business isn't affected, people go out into the snow for a smoke. going for a night out is so much more pleasant.

plummymummy · 26/06/2007 16:38

Oh just remembered her name - Sylvia!

Peachy · 26/06/2007 16:39

For it.

I live in wales anyhow so its already here and i am glad. The way I see it, a smoker can go have a meal and pop out for a smoke; if I go for a meal and a smoker was already there I end up with weeeping eyes and smelly clothes.

Besides the human rights thing doesnt stick up imo- unless the smokers can explain how it is their right to invade my airspace with their potentially poisonous fumes? AThe hman right to safe breathing ahs to come first.

TBH my smoker friends aren't aprticularly arsed by the ban- and pubs hree (annd this palce is famed for them) are justa s full as ever, just you can see poeple, there's no smoke haze

Peachy · 26/06/2007 16:39

willr ead thread now LOL

IcingOnTheCake · 26/06/2007 16:39

I didn't gain any weight when i quit, but then i didn't over eat to compensate because i just truly didn't want to smoke anymore so just stopped instantly. But then i have strong willpower.

Wisteria · 26/06/2007 16:40

ome research suggests roll-ups are more harmful.
You can always find research to support something if you look hard enough, not saying it's not true but I don't think it's been proven yet.
Most health professionals I know agree that it is less harmful - note I am not saying not harmful just less....

JoolsToo · 26/06/2007 16:40

as an aside, at Zurich airport on Saturday I was gobsmacked to see this glass room with about 20 people in there smoking - it was quite bizarre and a bit zoo like.

I'd have been embarrassed to be in there!

IcingOnTheCake · 26/06/2007 16:41

I bet it stunk in there!
