Strike that -- they're all married to city executives and know people who suffer from mental illnesses.

tiredemma · 07/06/2007 22:26

PMSL.

I am not a city exec, get that right will you. If you think that I am finding sympathy because this man is a high flyer you are very wrong, I expressed concern at the bollocks that you was talking.

Get real Boobysmum. If you read the posts- you will see that most people are replying to your 'facts'

Bobbysmum- I am a (poor) student nurse ( but mental health nurse by the way) who lives with someone who works for a car hire company.

strike that.

divastrop · 07/06/2007 22:30

i was just saying that i personally cant feel sympathy to sombody who has killed his own child, whether there is a reason behind it or not.and i would feel the same if it were a woman.

not that it matters because either way hes going to be locked up for a very long time.

unknownrebelbang · 07/06/2007 22:34

Most murderers plead Not Guilty.

I pass no comment on the case, i don't know enough about it. I just hope that my boys, as the sons of a 28 years' service police officer, grow up to be with more enlightened attitudes than displayed here.

I feel lots of concern for the whole family and in particular those with mental illness which people seem usually to want to hide and yet is so common in its various forms.

Some people seem to believe you are always bad and never mad and that people are always responsible for their actions. They often aren't. The difficulty which is even an issue when we have our own little children is in deciding what is "not their fault" because they're tired etc and what is deliberate naughty behaviour.

unknownrebelbang · 07/06/2007 22:59

thank you hatrick.

I do know a little bit about mental health issues and offenders too, but wouldn't dream of being so judgemental on such little information.

DH, who sometimes exhibits "stereotypical" copper traits, would be horrified to read some of the comments on here.

bobbysmum07 · 07/06/2007 23:10

There's no way you would be giving this bloke the benefit of the doubt if he was an unemployable nineteen year old chain smoking yob.

bobbysmum07 - you really haven't got a clue what you are talking about and if you're from a 'police family', it makes me very worried about the state of policing in this country. I assume you also don't know much about London with your very limited and off centre view of 'City' executives. Are you just trying to cause trouble?

unknownrebelbang · 07/06/2007 23:44

Ahem, please don't think all police families hold views like this.

KristinaM · 07/06/2007 23:49

bobbysmum - you are right, we all DO knwo someone sufering from a mental illess. becasue it is so common.I cant believe you live in London and no one you knwo has ever had mental health problems! You must only knwo 3 people

zookeeper · 08/06/2007 00:12

if this typical of a police family then god help us.

bobbysmum07 · 08/06/2007 00:15

I know lots of people, but none with any mental health issues that I'm aware of. Except on these message boards, of course. Which probably says a lot about Mumsnet.

And who says I live in London? There is a world outside it, you know.

zookeeper · 08/06/2007 00:21

well then you're not terribly aware are you Bobbysmum?

unknownrebelbang · 08/06/2007 00:23

Well it's not typical of this police family.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/06/2007 00:46

This has probably been said already, but imagine if this poor lady was posting on mumnet, recounting this story in a much less sensationalist way. The man clearly had a serious mental breakdown, and I'm sure he's not sitting on a ward somehwhere right now thinking how great that he gets of lightly. seriously, just imagine yourself in this position.

It is a sad fact that the media will pick up on their lifestyle and use that to put an 'edge ' o nthe story, but it's all crap.
They are just a family, as all of us. Comments like this

God if I hit my kids every time I was stressed they would be dead or in care by now.
Still it must be hell to have so much money that you live in a million pound house.

If he is stressed with work give up the job and get one you can do.
What a piece of shit, hope he rots.

are seriously nasty and ignorant.

zookeeper · 08/06/2007 00:58

haven't you flounced DWP?

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 08/06/2007 01:07

The lady's not for flouncing

zookeeper · 08/06/2007 01:12

good. You should stay.
