OK I took it upon myself in my arrogance. Nah, just enjoyed all the views whether we agreed or not, it has been very interesting.

So carry on folks. Link below to the original thread.

Look up Norway's interraction with the EU. It works fine for them.

But they do have freedom of movement also. Sticking point for Brexiteers I think.

it would be great if Arlene Foster were to become PM of UK - she is far better than spinless sell-out May - in fact Arlene is the true defender of Brexit and the unity of the UK

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:37

cathy:

FOM, of course that is a sticking point and is the reason why we have Brexit in the first place, UK must have control of its borders otherwise its not sovereign

Nope the grant would be in addition: an ongoing payment going forwards for (essentially SM market membership), the divorce bill (£50billion) is to cover ongoing liabilities (and for which UK may receive little/no direct benefit)

So it will be a hell of a long time before we’d break even, and even longer no doubt before the NHS will see a penny.

Are you happy with that outcome?

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:40

now might be a good time for May to consider resignation - let an adult take over!

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:42

Craic:

not at all, no it's an utterly absurd proposition - the 50 bill is ridiculous enough , but to add to it?? come now, no way that would get through Pariliament or the people

far better just to revert to WTO without a deal

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/12/2017 20:45

far better just to revert to WTO without a deal

You do realise that we aren't currently part of the WTO as an individual country, and we will need to negotiate with them too...

CraicMammy · 04/12/2017 20:45

UK must have control of its borders otherwise its not sovereign

That’s not what sovereignty is. sovereignty, in the context of our relationship with the EU is to have the unfettered ability for Parliament to make the laws it wants to, and for the Courts to interpret the laws absolutely.

cathyclown · 04/12/2017 20:47

Give it until Friday, will all be sorted. Along the lines of today. The postponement is choreographed. I think!

If it isn't there will be no movement to Phase 2. Hard Border, Mayhem and trouble ahead.....

And it is all over really.

You asked for objections to your Norway style solution, I merely pointed out a consequence of your suggestion. You didn’t think it through.

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:48

WTO rules are way better than signing up to a suicide EU 'deal'.

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:50

Norway deal could work if EU signed up to it - otherwise likely to be a border in NI, but could be managed ok, no the doom and gloom that the Remainers want

a good idea would be for ROI to leave EU as well

cathyclown · 04/12/2017 20:50

Norway style deal requires free movement of people too.

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 04/12/2017 20:50

Martina, the UK has always had control of its borders. Why do you keep on saying it doesn't?

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 20:51

FOM would have to end, hence, Norway-'style' deal

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 04/12/2017 20:53

A Norway style deal is not an option, either you sign up to the four freedoms, or none.

cathyclown · 04/12/2017 20:54

ROI will leave the EU when hell freezes over.

But I think you are trolling. I don't mind that at all, off you go. If you had made one sensible point I would be ok, but off you go.

My antenna is up though.

Littlegreyauditor · 04/12/2017 20:55

The ROI doesn’t want to leave the EU, so no, it’s not a good idea, it’s yet another example of the ill thought out ramblings of pent up little Britain-ers, desperate to believe they still have a say in the world. Hmm

'a good idea would be for ROI to leave EU as well'

A good idea for who exactly?

Martina888 · 04/12/2017 21:05

so you keep saying, let's wait and see, the 4 pillars of divine right could become 3 or 3 and a half

LineysRunner · 04/12/2017 21:07

"You can't stop them coming in"

Crikey

hardly, but just like most countries we want to be soverein, not dictated to by Brussels

Littlegreyauditor · 04/12/2017 21:12

Who is “we” exactly? You don’t speak for me, you roaring numpty, with your thinly veiled racism and your frantic repetition of alleged “facts” and simple solutions to problems which don’t affect you in the slightest.

Bore away off and learn to spell.
