Diana documentary - do you want Charles and Camilla as king and queen?

I have always been a monarchist :) but the behaviour of Charles and Camilla towards Diana was a disgrace and I really think if he gets the top job, he will make Camilla a Queen. Now there are reports of the Queen retiring and William and Harry's staff being fired so Charles can spin/take over. Do they never learn? Charles will make a lot of people become republicans, skip him and the monarchy is safe.
What do you think?

Diana was no shrinking violet . She knew what she was getting into . I don't but her victim act . Camilla should have been able to marry Charles from the start . Charles all but told Dianna he did not love her when they first got engaged but Diana still chose to marry him ( I expect the money and the lifestyle she thought she would have clouded her judgement) . She made those tapes and documented everything knowing one day she would screw the family over . She wasn't very calculating and clever . I like camilla and Charles and they will make a great king and queen

Nobody comes out of it looking great but Diana was gaslighted and had her head well and truly messed with, imo. I don't think anyone would do well in that situation. I'd probably have delighted in putting the boot in, to be honest Grin

SomethingOnce · 09/08/2017 17:56

And no, if we have to keep them on, I don't want that cad Charles to be the king.

BoneyBackJefferson · 09/08/2017 18:45

the problem that the story has been twisted and spun in so many directions that no -one really know what went on, all we really know is that they both cheated and she was better at manipulating the press and people.

I always felt sorry for Andrew and Fergie as IMO they were used as a test to see how a divorce would be accepted by the public.

Jux · 14/08/2017 18:28

I had little time for Diana; I too think she was manipulative and vengeful and shed no tears for her.

Yes, I'd be perfectly happy for C and C to be our King and Queen. I think Camilla's rather fun, and Charles quite interesting.

seekingwisdom4me · 14/08/2017 18:56

Actually we do know . Charles and Camilla arranged the wedding to use Diana as a brood mare. That is why I find it unforgivable. The marriage didn't go wrong as he tried to spin it, he used Diana from the start. He clearly said about love - whatever that means.
Charles slept with Camilla in a train carriage a night or 2 before the wedding. He had the two c's entwined in Britannia. He told Diana he was entitled to have a mistress.
No this wasn't a marriage that failed, Diana - young and green did go in to it fully and honestly, Charles didn't and yes was incredibly manipulative with Camilla from the start.
I have plenty of friends who have had painful divorces, not one was treated by their partner as badly before the wedding/marriage even had a chance.
Camilla pictured laughing with Charles will rankle with many.Despite this his work with the Princes Trust is excellent but for me personally, still not enough. His actions have made me lose heart in HIS monarchy. I feel so sorry for the Queen, what a worry. If Charles truly cared for the monarchy he would not create such bad will for it's future. Anyway, media circles have sat on many stories the public are not aware of. Unsuprisingly there are various members of the forces who also know the truth. Gibraltar holds many tales. There is much more to come out and I presume it will.

Hang on, have we suddenly gone back 90 years? Cad?????

Ceto · 15/08/2017 00:04

OP, you've been reading too many tabloids and/or paranoid websites. We don't know any of that, and in particular we don't know the full story and almost certainly never will.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 15/08/2017 00:04

Actually we do know

No we don't. Not unless you were actually there.

Thinking you know and actually knowing are two different things.

SuperBeagle · 15/08/2017 00:09

The Queen's not going to retire.

And I couldn't care less about Charles/Camilla becoming King/Queen. Aside from my suspicion that Diana gave just as much as she got, I have no ill feelings towards a man whose private life was never any of our business. Even if you removed Camilla from the equation, the marriage was never going to survive.

MissEliza · 15/08/2017 18:09

Op are you just totally naive or just shit stirring? Brood mare? Really?
I admire Diana for her charity work and she was clearly a wonderful mother but she could be nasty and manipulative in her personal life. I don't know what was said in the channel 4 programme but whatever she said, that's just one side of the story. She had form for making up rumours eg Tiggy Legge Bourke being pregnant by Charles. She had plenty of affairs and I think Will and Julia Carling's marriage broke up because of her. I think all of this stuff needs to be put to rest now.
Personally Camilla has really grown on me and I'd like to see her be Queen.

SerfTerf · 15/08/2017 18:16

OP you sound like a walking "lifetime movie" and every other Diana obsessive

squishee · 16/08/2017 04:51

He had the two c's entwined in Britannia

Eh? Care to elaborate OP?

MumBod · 16/08/2017 05:33

My DP used to work with guys who frequented Diana's gym.

She wasn't lonely, don't worry Wink

diddl · 16/08/2017 08:36

"As for Charles and Camilla - I actually feel for them both. They should've been allowed to marry."

But Camilla wanted to marry APB, so I'm not sure that there was any not allowed" about it.

Charles should have stayed single imo.

Queenie has 3 other kids-it's not as if it was all dependent on Charles!

He's in his 60s & still the heir as he was 30 odd years ago with all the panic for him to marry & have an heir.

The whole ridiculous thing about duty & not letting the side down like Uncle David is exactly what caused this imo.

As a pp said, it's not just about marrying someone he didn't want to, but someone who the establishment & "the Firm" considered suitable.

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 16/08/2017 08:46

And of course, Charles other mistress (Lady Tryon, and possibly more?) around the time of his marriage has been completely airbrushed out.

Possibly because it didn't suit the 'three of us' narrative (though 3 is clearly the wrong number, especially if you add hers in to the total)

tenpoletudor · 27/08/2017 19:41

I loathe Charles and would prefer the Monarchy to end than for him to be King.

If they didn't cost us so much of our taxpayer money instead of it going to say NHS, and if they weren't so rich themselves I wouldn't give a shit what they do.

But we ARE paying for them, and they ARE very wealthy and they don't give a shit about us really either.

Despicable caricatures of themselves.

ReinettePompadour · 27/08/2017 20:07

I've never liked Diana. I've always found her to come across as manipulative and quite spoilt.

I find it amazing that she spoke open and candidly to her voice coach about such personal things.

Im of the personal opinion that her voice coach was actually coaching her to sound more plausible to the public as there was the chance the public were starting to fall out of love with her with all the stories in the press.

And Diana didn't choose to do charity work thats always been the role of the Royals and Aristocrats historically. She really wasn't doing anything unusual. In fact had she not done any charity work then that would have been remarkable.

I've met Camilla and chatted about my volunteer role with her. She was very likeable and was very warm. I'd have no problem with her being Queen Consort or whatever her title will be. Let's face it Charles wont be King for too long given his age. Then William can step up and take the role.

sunglassally · 27/08/2017 20:13

They are all playing a role in public because we are paying them to do this.

I bet when they go to their boltholes they get hammered and laugh at us all, whilst simultaneously checking their enormous bank balance that is paid for by the plebs and the great unwashed.

chips4teaplease · 27/08/2017 20:13

Diana was the disgrace.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/08/2017 20:19

I don't understand the obsession with Diana.

sunglassally · 27/08/2017 20:19

Well it's very handy that she and her partner are deceased now.

Imagine if they were still alive. A former wife of a Prince of the Realm, and a Muslim heir to his dad's wealth, Dad was never accepted by the Firm either.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 27/08/2017 20:21

Who knows if he would have stayed her partner.
