Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

I'd imagine a retired consultant who lives in Basingstoke would have done the journey to London on more than one occasion, previously.

It's not far in the car, tbf, but if I had had a deadline to meet I'd have caught the train and avoided the, inevitable, London traffic.

They don't look particularly competent when they can't even pitch up at court on time imo.

MillieMoodle · 26/07/2017 15:57

Taratill only Connie is in court today, and only she was there yesterday. Chris has been with Charlie for the last 2 days.

Sirzy · 26/07/2017 15:58

Exactly words.

I hope that in any decisions with regards hospice care the needs of other families using it are considered. The "lovely" thing about hospices is how peaceful and relaxed they are. This sort of thing unless managed very well risks disputing the dignity of not only Charlie but others too.

Ceto · 26/07/2017 15:58

@Ceto That looks like the most random post

Which one, cjt?

Ellie56 · 26/07/2017 15:58

Does anybody know how old this retired doctor is? He could have been retired for years.

taratill · 26/07/2017 15:59

Millie I stand corrected.

teainbed · 26/07/2017 15:59

I suspect the retired Consultant has absolutely no idea what he's walking into...

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 16:00

I'm really hoping that this delay is because the judge has said to the lawyers "I've had enough, agree to short time in hospice, or staying in GOSH, you have an hour to decide or I'll make a ruling"

If only Sad

cjf is correct that the judge said he'd give one more day for an agreement to be made or he'd rule on the case himself - but it doesn't necessarily follow that he meant it

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 16:00

@ceto - Not sure why everyone in Basingstoke should know the best way to get to the High Court.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 26/07/2017 16:00

One thing I do think is it would be useful for the judge to ask for submissions to allow him to determine: Is it in Charlie's best interests to continue to live in his current state? I assume the answer is "no" considering the previous decisions.

However, If the answer is yes, then go onto look at for how long and where.

If the answer is no, then all of this current stuff is just a distraction and a waste of time. It's indulging the parents. Which is kind and understandable but actually skating very closely to breaching the law

If I was the guardian I would be asking to intervene now and make submissions to that effect

AcrossthePond55 · 26/07/2017 16:00

It's just a loop, isn't it? Judge says X, not Y. Gard team brings forth 'witness' who says 'Y can be done'. Judge listens and says 'GOSH, do you have a rebuttal?". GOSH rebuts. Judge makes ruling "Ok, Y is out of the question". Gard team says, "Ok, but we have someone who can do Z'. And it all begins again.

MillieMoodle · 26/07/2017 16:00

Taratill sorry I didn't mean that to come across like I was telling you off Blush just trying type quickly as thread is moving so fast and autocorrect is out to get me today.

oakleaffy · 26/07/2017 16:01

I agree with the transport thing..If the doc is so bumbling that he/she cannot organize a train trip into Town [It's pretty easy to get to] then I'd be concerned about their abilities..but that's just my opinion.

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 16:01

Puzzledandpissedoff not at all. But I rekcon he likely would.

CremeFresh · 26/07/2017 16:01

Where ever Charlie ends up , I just don't think it's going to live up to his parents expectations.

Ellie56 · 26/07/2017 16:01

I suspect the retired Consultant has absolutely no idea what he's walking into

Quite.

Ceto · 26/07/2017 16:02

Ceto I'm sure he [the doctor] can use google maps..they take one ''door to door..with time estimates!

It depends when it was decided he should come; also time estimates don't necessarily allow for traffic. They might only have decided to call him late this morning. To be fair, if I had to get somewhere in London I didn't know in a hurry, I suspect I'd opt for a taxi from the mainline station.

taratill · 26/07/2017 16:02

No problem Millie i didn't take it that way at all. I hadn't got my facts straight and assumed they were both in court.

Leontine · 26/07/2017 16:02

Laiste Exasperating it is! Just come on this thread and read the latest developments and was like FFS!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 16:03

I suspect the retired Consultant has absolutely no idea what he's walking into...

Only if he's been living on Mars, surely?

Nicknacky · 26/07/2017 16:03

If he is already two hours late then is there a chance he isn't actually coming?!

cjt110 · 26/07/2017 16:03

Anyone local, or with knowledge - how far is GOSH from the Court?

OP posts:
MillieMoodle · 26/07/2017 16:03

Also agree with your points taratill.

Regarding the latest doctor not knowing what he's getting into, I don't think there's anyone in the country who wouldn't know what they were getting into, so high profile is this case.

Fancythat69 · 26/07/2017 16:03

CGF- the family are coming back in now

oakleaffy · 26/07/2017 16:04

ceto I have a dread of being late for important meetings, wasn't having a 'go' at you at all :)
