Incidentally, one of my cousins is a surgeon and lives in the Basingstoke area. Maybe it's him it won't be.

Seriously though, at what point does the Judge say "no more" and make a decision based on what is already known. Is he even allowed to do that or does the law dictate that he must keep allowing these new experts to speak?

Jux · 26/07/2017 16:04

Across, yes. And that can go on forever.

Please Mr Wonderful Judge F, please make a ruling today.

Nquartz · 26/07/2017 16:04

Across you are spot on. It is never ending

titchy · 26/07/2017 16:04

Court to GOSH - 20 min walk.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 16:04

Ceto · 26/07/2017 16:05

cjt, That was in answer to "If the retired doctor doesn't know that Basingstoke to the High Court is best as a 45 minute train journey followed by a 15 minute walk, why on earth would anyone trust his judgment on anything else?"

AcrossthePond55 · 26/07/2017 16:05

I suspect that this 'expert' surfaced this morning and that no one has an idea of what they (or he) is walking into.

It reminds me of one of those old movies where some PI in a fedora passes a note to a defense attorney during the prosecution closing arguments who then stands and shouts "Your Honour!! We've found a new witness who can clear my client!!!!!".

family coming back into court - Sky news

Suppositions at this point:

  1. Judge will accommodate pretty much whatever Armstrong wants today. If a pink elephant is requested to dangle from the ceiling then he'll allow 24 hours for Armstrong to locate one which can be interviewed in court at 2pm tomorrow.

  2. GOSH will protest and the judge will agree with them, but still do 1).

  3. This will boomerang in and out of court several times more yet without anything changing for the child who should have been safeguarded back in April at the request of GOSH.

GOSH nurses volunteering are indeed exceptionally brave, however I wonder how much this is about being afraid to leave a child they are fond of and feel responsible for in an unsafe situation unprotected. This will certainly not end on July 31st or any other date soon.

CGF just tweeted a photo from the court room. I thought that was in contempt, even whilst in recess?? Else why court room artists and their coloured pencil sketches?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 16:07

I do think is it would be useful for the judge to ask for submissions to allow him to determine: Is it in Charlie's best interests to continue to live in his current state?

But this has already been thoroughly gone into, and the judge said he wouldn't re-open the case unless there was new and compelling evidence

Or perhaps he might not have meant that either ...

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 16:07

That's what I thought too, somedyke Confused

smilingmind · 26/07/2017 16:07

Quite Oak many people who do not know London well are aware of the traffic problems.
If the doctor lives in Basingstoke he will almost certainly be familiar with London.
Maybe he doesn't know where the High Court is but there are maps and tube maps.

Nquartz · 26/07/2017 16:07

Sorry, I'm still catching up, what was the mis-informed tweet just referred to on Sky News, please?

oakleaffy · 26/07/2017 16:08

''Congestion on M3 ''..maybe that's why he is late..[according to google maps]

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 16:09

To be fair, if I had to get somewhere in London I didn't know in a hurry, I suspect I'd opt for a taxi from the mainline station.

In this case, probably not much quicker than walking - it"s straight across Waterloo Bridge.

ajandjjmum · 26/07/2017 16:09

Poor Charlie.

And poor GOSH - how much money is this costing, that should have been spent on other sick children in their care.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 16:10

Spot on, MissH Smile

ScarlettSahara · 26/07/2017 16:10

I would be seriously worried that the retired 'surgical intensivist' would not have the skills for intubation (am not being ageist here but it is a skill and very different in infants to adults).
It would be unthinkable the ramifications of not being able to replace the tube.
I too fear Charlie is being lost sight of and that for his sake the timeframe should be short Sad

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 16:10

Look, I agree it's all a pretty shambolic arrangement, but in my view 'if he can't arrive on time he can't be trusted with anything else' is the kind of logical leap that has been criticised when CA do it. Let's not get carried away.

JaneEyre70 · 26/07/2017 16:10

There has to be a public investigation into all of this at some point, surely? To show what it has cost the public purse and the legal expenses, let alone those for GOSH.

Ellie56 · 26/07/2017 16:10

If a pink elephant is requested to dangle from the ceiling then he'll allow 24 hours for Armstrong to locate one which can be interviewed in court at 2pm tomorrow.

Not under a rock but unaware of the back story, the social media, CA, the forums.

Wordsaremything · 26/07/2017 16:12

Is anyone monitoring the tweetering?
