Ok guys, we have been very lucky to discuss this, please lets not give anyone anything to complain about, Mhq have been more than accomodating.

Back to lurking, sticky tape in place over big mouth.

DorotheaBeale · 26/07/2017 15:49

CGF says delay caused by London traffic.

If that's true, I'm not impressed. If the court was sitting at 2.00, he (do we know it's a he?) should have been aiming to get there by 1.00, to allow for delays.

It all feels very last minute and unprepared, if he couldn't even e-mail his CV, so they could at least have been checking that out while waiting.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 26/07/2017 15:50

I can't believe how long this is being dragged out for

Not sure why everyone in Basingstoke should know the best way to get to the High Court.

CotswoldStrife · 26/07/2017 15:50

I am absolutely disgusted at the further (continual?) delays. I hope the Judge (who has been great so far) can take this in hand and say enough is enough.

I can sympathise with the dreadful situation Charlie's parents are in but not the way they are handling it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/07/2017 15:51

It's all a bit like the situation with Hirano, isn't it? He hadn't seen Charlie or read the notes either, so everything was delayed until he had - and no doubt the same will happen here

Ditto any negotiations he may need to have with his insurers ... yet another opportunity for delay which nobody appears willing to bring to an end

@Ceto That looks like the most random post

I can't believe I'm just catching up since this morning and no decision has been reached.

This is just ridiculous, I really didn't want it to come down to the judge making a ruling but I think he's going to have to

oakleaffy · 26/07/2017 15:53

Ceto I'm sure he [the doctor] can use google maps..they take one ''door to door..with time estimates!

smilingmind · 26/07/2017 15:53

I haven't lived in London for a long time but have spent quite a lot of time there.
Presumably the doctor is driving. I do wonder why with the traffic problems, congestion charges and parking costs he would choose to do so.
Maybe because he is getting his expenses paid, but even so wouldn't public transport have been quicker and easier ?

AcrossthePond55 · 26/07/2017 15:53

By my 'world clock' it's 4 pm in London. I wonder if they'll reconvene or if Justice Francis will adjourn until tomorrow.

Lynnm63 · 26/07/2017 15:53

Could someone tell me where Chris Gard is tweeting. I'm lurking and sitting on my hands as I don't want to get banned again. I'd just like to see what he said though.

TinselTwins · 26/07/2017 15:53

So imagine what could happen if Charlie went to a hospice for a week. If the retired doctor is unable to cope and rings 999 does GOSH have to send out their doctors to the hospice to look after him for the rest of the week or would they have to readmit him to GOSH?

This was also discussed in a way earlier thread, and the short answer is yes, if the caller and those at the scene do not hand over to paramedics that the person is not for re-admission, and there is no out of hours message on 111, he could be re-admitted via A&E

Reasons could be new infection, uncontrolled pain etc
Nursing homes have been known to re-admit elderly end of life patients who were sent to the home from hospital to die if they don't want to deal with community based care for new complications such as chest infections.

Sostenueto ..Yes, It is bloomin hard to gag oneself under the circs..

LovelyBath77 · 26/07/2017 15:55

I'm suprised they can just spring this in the court. Is this normal? I would have thought they would need to tell the court in advance of new witnesses etc? Or is that not the case.

ScarlettSahara · 26/07/2017 15:55

I agree with you Meddie- there is a potential for a lot to go wrong and for unrealistic future expectations.

Wordsaremything · 26/07/2017 15:55

This makes no sense does it. Retired doc allegedly offering to set up an intensive care facility at home. But home has been ruled out by the judge. And the offer from the hospice was conditional on extubation happening shortly after arrival. They surely wouldn't want to accommodate the Gards, plus a team of nurses headed by a retired doctor who is not even a paediatric intensive care doctor, in their facility for a week or more? Imagine the potential disruption!

taratill · 26/07/2017 15:56

And all this time C&C are in court and not with their son. I really do think they need some professional help to come to terms with what they have been through.

I think they have been used by a whole lot of people with a lot of agendas.

I think one day they will regret all of this.

The court surely can't rule in favour of Charlie being kept alive for a further week in the manner requested by the parents for what can only actually be their benefit.

That is opening a can of worms. The NHS will be bled dry with other people insisting they are given the same.

Jux · 26/07/2017 15:57

It is tremendously unreasonable to simply keep on and keep on and keep on, using up Court time, lawyer time, NHS time. The end is inevitable. I do understand the desire to delay it, but there is a child who is almost certainly in pain and distress in there and even the judge seems to have forgotten that now.

Laiste · 26/07/2017 15:57

I really really cannot imagine what is coming next!

Now there's an ''intensive care surgeon'' (what is that?) coming out of thin air who can't get to court in time or submit a CV ahead of himself by email to ... do what?

Disagree with GOSH i guess.

So another GOSH say one thing - but here's someone else who says they shoulda cooulda woulda done x y z BUT wont actually commit to saying much at all probably.

Exasperating in the extreme!

Butterymuffin · 26/07/2017 15:57

While it is all last minute, I'm with Ceto in that for me knowledge of public transport and London traffic does not impact on someone's medical qualifications.
