If anyone wants to post, perhaps we could consider what implications today's case might have for others in future ... ?

Can someone provide an update re the court?

What's happening now. thks.

nauticant · 25/07/2017 16:19

If he were to be moved, apart from the priority requirement that his life support could be accommodated and maintained, the second requirement would be a location from which people can be removed. A hospice could work, a private home of one of the parents' relatives could be a complete nightmare.

cjt110 · 25/07/2017 16:19

Writerwannabe83 Thank you again for explaining this to me.

What a mess. I am empathise with the parents but can also see that this in itself could cause problems.

TheFairyCaravan · 25/07/2017 16:19

This is really bothering me. GOSH don't just have a duty of care to Charlie and his family, they have a duty of care to their staff. How can they possibly send anyone anywhere with Charlie?

I can, also, understand why hospices would be reluctant to take him. Who would want 20 harpies from the Barmy Army outside?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 25/07/2017 16:20

Is it just me thinking of the flight risk if they're home with private staff?

This is pretty much the latest position. Apart from a brief hearing, the parties have been in discussion since 3pm. Hearing will then resume twitter.com/SkyNews/status…

Ah shit that posted rubbish.

Still in discussion Soda

Meddie...That cannot be an easy job to do.. so poignant..Respects to the HCP's who do this.

Writerwannabe83 · 25/07/2017 16:21

Today 16:16 SomeDyke

"They will just turn the ventilator off and remove the tube."

Except, I believe, as mentioned earlier by those who know, trained staff need to be there in order to ensure that Charlie passes without pain.

When I said 'they' I was referring to nursing staff, not the parents Smile

officeshoes · 25/07/2017 16:22

Meddie your post was so moving

LapinR0se · 25/07/2017 16:22

This is just awful and wil further solidify public opinion that GOSH is being obstructive and denying Chris & Connie any parental rights.

sodablackcurrant · 25/07/2017 16:22

cjt and office shoes....

Thanks. I am out of the loop a bit here and there.

MrsSthe3rd · 25/07/2017 16:22

I wouldn't have thought so, Beyond

derxa · 25/07/2017 16:22

Do also remember that Mumsnet is primarily a source of support for parents; Charlie's parents are real people dealing with a horrendous situation - please do keep that in mind when you post.
Well said MNHQ

Nope......

MrsSthe3rd · 25/07/2017 16:23

Meddie, very moving. I'm in awe of what you do.

angelnix · 25/07/2017 16:24

I've got to leave and go for a while, please could someone take over the tweeting once the case restarts. In all of this, I hope that Chris and Connie are able to work with the team at GOSH to get the best outcome for little Charlie and fulfil their wishes aswell.

friendlysnakehere · 25/07/2017 16:24

Has Charlie's guardian spoken? Sorry if I missed it.

sodablackcurrant · 25/07/2017 16:26

Have a feeling that once he is out of GOSH, (if that happens,) they will refuse to allow the ventilator to be withdrawn.

So sad, maybe their last act of control over the situation.

They fought hard for their child, but it is becoming impractical now to an extent, but hopefully some solution will be found.

I just hope that the judge orders the media and others to stay away from wherever it is and no reporting until he passes.

NellieBuff · 25/07/2017 16:26

Meddie Flowers

Puzzledandpissedoff · 25/07/2017 16:27

I'd think that the biggest risk would be that C&C might refuse to allow the ventilation process to be ended when the agreed time comes - and then what? GOSH (or somebody) is committed to providing ongoing care for Charlie at home while the case goes back to Court to hear "evidence" from more "experts"

Got it in one Sad

I don't know how much clearer it could be that the parents are never going to accept anyone else, no matter who they are or where they come from, making these decisions for them. The only realistic possibilities seem to be either Charlie slipping away on his own or somebody forcing the issue

By the way, is anyone else wondering when the court will have to rise, thus postponing this into yet another day?

OP posts:
officeshoes · 25/07/2017 16:28

Surely they will have to adjourn for the day shortly?

SomeDyke · 25/07/2017 16:28

Listening to the Sky News clip with Joshua Rozenberg, seems no other hospital willing to provide end of life care, but GOSH managed to find a hospice and come up with transport arrangements.

Seems to me as if the parents wishes to not be in GOSH have been respected as regards this plan. But of course, it is the GOSH plan, not the parents plan...............
