This is a thread following the legal and ethical questions raised by the recent court case involving Charlie Gard.

Please could we refrain from insulting or otherwise "bashing" his parents. It isn't in the spirit of Mumsnet and will get the threads removed.

Please could we also remember that at the heart of this case is a terminally ill baby and his heartbroken parents. There are those participating in and watching this thread for whom these issues are painful. Please let's try and be mindful of them when we post. This isn't a place for name calling or trivialising the very real pain they feel. Many parents of severely disabled children are on here.

Does anyone think that there will be different evidence presented on Monday just to delay court decision again?

I have been keeping up with most of these threads and reading the CA page and I can't believe how they are all acting.

Yes about an hour after the GOSH statement.

She posted on the GOSH page about an hour ago:

I sent GOSH a message last week, thanking them again for the time and care they gave my daughter. Without them, her learning disabilities would probably still be undiagnosed and we'd be unsupported. The GOSH banner made a huge difference- other clinicians sat up and took notice.

I read a comment on one of the papers that GOSH should just let Charlie go to America and just be done with the whole situation.

There is a comment from 'Connie' on the DM saying that they don't condone abusive or threatening behaviour to the GOSH staff and that the comments (on the DM site) are horrible for the family to read.

More people are disagreeing with it (red arrows) than agreeing. It's in response to an article about GOSH calling the Police.

I'm wondering how come we've never heard of the threats and hate mail to the parents before.

I'm quite new to MN and these threads but have been reading with interest. I don't like myself for feeling this way but my sympathy for the family has really ebbed away recently. They've set in motion and emboldened the people doing this, it's too little too late to try and back track now. And to make it all about them and claim the death threats are a cynical ploy is despicable.

I think tbh the tide is turning against them. The tweets I've seen seem to be around them losing touch with reality ...that's opinions of other people.

Because of one of my children's condition I follow quite a lot of FB supporting sick children and it is very very common for parents of sick children who've put their story in the public domain to get trolling and threats. A troll's a troll, they're just looking for an impact. I am sure Connie is telling the truth - she will have received a boatload of abuse personally and also if she's sitting reading through DM comments and GOSH FB probably a lot of things which she's experiencing as abuse, especially if she believes in a conspiracy to murder.

Tbh I'm wondering what constitutes 'threats' to the parents. According to CA any suggestion that you disagree with C&C's stance or support GOSH makes you a hater, troll, is abuse. So I wouldn't be surprised if the threats towards them is actually just disagreement, albeit strongly worded. I've certainly seen nothing online in remotely the same league as what their supporters have been saying about GOSH.

I'm also a bit dubious about Laura Gard's video. Lots of footage of the empty streets around the hospital entrance, getting responses such as 'Where are all the protestors then? GOSH are lying'. Pretty sure it was deliberate.
