For Corbyn's role in Brexit, read Tim Shipman 'All out War' (a good balanced account of the Referendum) I don't think he comes across as honourable at all. He was obviously either pro-Brexit, or utterly uninterested in the result of the referendum (you can take your pick), but, along with McDonnell and with the help of Seamus Milne, was largely responsible for the result.
Of course, now he's got his mojo and everybody thinks he's the messiah, the events of only a year ago are forgotton.
He's despicable.

PortiaCastis · 24/06/2017 23:00

No Brexit is despicable

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:02

do you mean 'no brexit is despicable' or 'no, brexit is despicable@ portia. and it's not really addressing what I said.

Flumpernickel · 24/06/2017 23:04

Some random on twitter said it best regarding JC and eavis.

"Eavis and Butthead."

I have nothing to add that tops this genius. Grin

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/06/2017 23:04

Hmm, personality cults always end well don't they?

Highalert · 24/06/2017 23:05

Scared are you? Scared the Tories are finally fucked.

explodingkittens · 24/06/2017 23:06

The idea that Corbyn is responsible for the shitshow that is Brexit is just so laughable, I barely know where to start.

Are you seriously trying to blame the Leave vote on Jeremy Corbyn? Because you read a book by Tim Shipman, ex-political editor of the Daily Mail?

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:06

sittinginthesun I love the thought of young people reading the manifestos. Don't you think it's more likely that their opinions come from social media? This I find really worrying. At least with traditional media we have the safeguard of the complaints commission. Any old crap is put out on social media, with no standards at all.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/06/2017 23:06

Bit scared, but not because the Tories are fucked.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2017 23:06

Tim Shipman who writes for right wing newspapers? As Brexit turns to shit and corbyns popularity rises the right will attempt to blame it all on JC.

Flumpernickel · 24/06/2017 23:07

And once again. For shits and giggles.

"EAVIS AND BUTTHEAD"

GrinGrin

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2017 23:08

The right wing gutter press have the highest standards of journalistic integrity, especially when corrections and clarifications are buried on page 27. Hmm

Highalert · 24/06/2017 23:08

The Tories are fucked though. No denying that.

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:09

would you like to try reading it first kittens? Or do you prefer coming on here and shouting at everyone who disagrees with you? It is very balanced, and seems to be the standard text on the referendum so far. I remember Corbyn's behaviour in the referendum as well and he was piss poor

explodingkittens · 24/06/2017 23:10

At least with traditional media we have the safeguard of the complaints commission.

Oh stop, please. My sides are splitting. Yes, our holy and truthful newspapers, where would we be without them?

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:11

So ghost someone else up for self-censorship. Why don't you read it then make up your mind, or is that too difficult. Shipman spoke to politicians across the political spectrum FWIW

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2017 23:12

The referendum was the responsibility of the Tories, they called it. The two most senior politicians in the country Cameron and Osborne supported remain. They had been elected only 13 months earlier.

explodingkittens · 24/06/2017 23:12

Umm, shouting? Who's shouting?

Simply pointing out that something written by good old Shippers is unlikely to be either fair or balanced.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 24/06/2017 23:12

What scares me is the number of people who would seemingly welcome Marxism, that scares me quite a lot.

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:12

yes kittens I know the PCC isn't prefect, but are you really OK with the unchecked stuff on social media?

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:13

why don't you try reading it kittens. It's very good. Unless you prefer living in an echo chamber.

Sittinginthesun · 24/06/2017 23:13

Lucy it obviously depends on the teen, but those I know are very very aware of how fake news etc works. And they discuss it in real life, in class, with friends.

It's not surprising - my dc has been aware of at least two general elections, the Scottish referendum, and the EU referendum. To this age group, politics is real, it directly affects them, and they are starting to feel empowered.

They listen to the radio, they read the BBC news website, but they read widely. Not just one paper.

Flumpernickel · 24/06/2017 23:14

"What scares me is the number of people who would seemingly welcome Marxism, that scares me quite a lot."

This. X 1000

lucydogz · 24/06/2017 23:15

If you don't feel up to reading a book just check out what Alan Johnson had to say about Corbyn post-referendum, having tried to run the remain campaign with no co operation from Corbyn and McDonnell.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2017 23:15

I believe in a basic standard of journalism. It would be nice if newspapers weren't generally owned by self serving media barons peddling their own agenda masquerading as what people really believe.

I'll pass on the book, as I've said Tory mess, Tory clean up.
